  1. You don't have CM:SF.....Dude buy it! At the current price, with all the modules it's a steal.....Seriously get it. You'd be staggered at just how much content there is for it and just how creative some of that content is. PS - If you don't have CM:A get that too!
  2. In the old CM games engineers could target mines and clear them with their satchel charges.....Is that not possible in the newer games?
  3. All those nasty NATO planes trying to kill the Russian military's favourite little droid.....A2/AD.
  4. Just out of interest, which bit of Poland is on the North Atlantic coast? Or Turkey for that matter? NATO is a dinosaur and it should have gone the same way at the end of the Cold-War.....It's continual posturing to maintain its 'purpose' has been a veritable fountain of pointless bloodbaths ever since, from the Balkans to the Middle East. Do not be trying to lecture me on morality.
  5. A gun that seems perfect on the workbench or at the range, can display unexpected characteristics if you jump into a drainage ditch and then try to use it. The SA-80 (even in it's updated form) represents the UK's slightly unique approach to marksmanship, I recall seeing it referred to as a Rolls-Royce of a rifle, when what we really needed was a Jeep.
  6. I've got a Free Syrian Army version of the classic 'Hammertime' you can try (it was a test version for a campaign), it's quite a bit harder than the original.....The full campaign version is a little bit bit easier.
  7. I ran up a quick CM:SF scenario based on the (rather beautiful, kudos to whomever made it) 'NATO Borders' campaign map, it was loosely modelled on the TV footage we saw in the UK at the time of the first Turkish incursion into Syria.....At the time all we were seeing were M60s on TV, so I used Canadian upgraded Leopard 1s to replace them (Turkey has AFVs of a similar spec), and Dutch mech infantry to provide the AIFVs. Now that we know they sent Leopard 2s (and will probably soon have a Fennek variant in service) it's quite easy to model a reasonably representative Turkish force for CM:SF.
  8. Alex I can win all my own battles too.....Every time. As I said I'm pretty busy with my own stuff, but I'd be glad to play and comment on an amended version of your scenario. Where are you from BTW Alex.....I'm British.
  9. That's correct, the slope was too steep to bring their guns to bear, so they improvised.
  10. Why is it different.....Are you suggesting the Russian border stealthily crept toward the NATO units? Now, let's be truthful here.....If Russia triggered a coup in and deployed an Air Assault Battalion to Mexico there might be some equivalence. The fact is that NATO is marching ever eastwards (breaking its solemn word by doing so too).....Historically that usually doesn't end well.
  11. But, but.....He's gone green! Apparently after burial he was renamed Bob.
  12. If you are for instance, the Mujahideen, playing in a campaign with low reinforcement rates and you are attacking, lets say a small Soviet detachment supported by a FAC with access to Hind Gunships.....I can assure that there is every reason for the player to want access to an Exit Zone, because those Hinds could wipe out half his force if they are still on the map . Using exit zones to preserve unconventional units in a campaign is a very sensible option IMHO.....It's a shame you can't do it with the uncons in CM:SF.
  13. IIRC one rule of thumb is the more windows on a given side the less cover it provides.
  14. I'd imagine that feeling is widely reciprocated in Eastern Russia, when NATO start pratting about in Poland.
  15. I know.....The whole 'getting him out of the freezer' scenario is really difficult to implement in CM:SF.
  16. I still didn't play it.....Was testing my own scripts until the wee small hours. I will do so though.....I promise! Even though I think it's a total fairytale!
  17. Oddly enough I was just loading pick-ups when your reply notification came in..... If you chuck the HQ in a Humvee with a RPG or sniper from the Command Group you can get him to bail as the test shows. The other option is Tiny Fighter Teams, which IIRC often have three members, so they can be teamed up in a similar way to the HQ.....It seems to be a bit random which one bails though, in my test 1 RPG & 1 HQ bailed. PS - I'm going to put some Syrian Tank Crew In Leopards.....Turkish operations anyone? PPS - Actually might this be a use for all those bloody Taxi Drivers that you inevitably wind up lumbered with? Assign 'em to the same group, stick 'em in the Hummer first and hopefully their driver MOS should kick in. This then leaves you four seats for other flavours of 'head-chopper'.
  18. What about having the commander be replaced at random to represent him committing Sepukku.....It would be appropriate, but it wouldn't destroy the player's position completely and it might on occasion be a blessing. Just a thought.
  19. I've created improvised ISIS units, as I mentioned in the Neptune Spear thread, but decided they were in bad taste so I junked them. You can do a reasonable job of modelling the 'head-choppers' without mods, but why would anyone want to play as that filth? I never went to the effort of testing my improvised ISIS units fully in an OpFor capacity, but it would only be the work of about an hour to do so.....EDIT - OK I did a quick test and they work OK but you can't get the Fighter Groups to dismount from the Humvees as far as I can tell. Will play around a bit more.....The quick test file's at the bottom if you want it. Play as Blue, don't expect much. I am working on some FSA stuff.....It was inspired by the Zawiya Uprising campaign oddly enough, which we both seem to have enjoyed, and I've used a few 'CM:SF Classics' in a new way. quickisistest.btt
  20. IIRC there were indeed two different Sd.Kfz.251/9 variants, the earlier version on the Ausf C chassis usually had a lower profile superstructure than the later version on the Ausf D chassis.
  21. And when that gets stale it's off to CM:A for a bloodbath of a different colour.....The options are endless.
