  1. IS that 'Is' or 'Will Be'? How many F-16s or F-18s could one purchase for the same total cost as the F-35 project, just out of interest.....Quite a few I'd warrant! BTW is ALIS working properly yet?
  2. I tried out a new defensive tactic and found I couldn't do what I wanted because there were no doors on the accessible side of a building.....Pretty much had to be sorted or you'd all have pointed and laughed! All done now.....Will play it myself once more, then it should be pretty much ready to roll unless I discover something else, which is entirely possible on an urban map like this one.
  3. Mebbe. I'd imagine your micro-armour is 1/285, so about a quarter the size of my stuff.....I used to have some micro-armour too, but I prefer the modern freeform skirmish systems to old style 'I Go-You Go' games.
  4. Actually I believe Hitler was reasonably respectful of women (& reasonably kind to dogs).....Total A-Hole in all other regards though.
  5. Yeah.....Assuming I live long enough (unlikely TBH). I'm going to ditch most of the aircraft, restricting myself just to those with a close support role, (plus a few sexy ones that I just have to have) but the tanks are all to be built, by the platoon (typically) for use with Too Fat Lardies 'Chain Of Command', 'Troops, Weapons & Tactics' & 'I Ain't Been Shot Mum' wargame rules: https://toofatlardies.co.uk/product-category/chain-of-command/ https://toofatlardies.co.uk/product-category/troops-weapons-tactics/ https://toofatlardies.co.uk/product-category/i-aint-been-shot-mum/
  6. So the Great White Elephant goes east.....Bet the Sukhoi jockeys are just trembling in their boots. But it's got to go somewhere I suppose.
  7. I'm British and through my modelling hobby I've become friends with lots of guys in Ukraine & in Russia. There are lots of modellers from Latvia, Lithuania & Poland too, then there's my German, Canadian & American buddies to think about. TBH I'd really rather they don't start all start killing each other, it'd completely ruin the atmosphere on BM.....Might make it kinda like this thread TBH.
  8. The Tulip has the rockets set to two different elevations (each side is different if you look at the picures carefully), they are effectively pre-ranged.....I forget the actual numbers off-hand but I can find them easily enough if it's of value? Caliope is a different beast really, more akin to the Katuysha than the Tulip.....There's also the T-40 'Whizz-Bang', but this one never really took off: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T40_Whizbang WWII tanks are kinda my specialist subject BTW. This is my WWII 1/72 kit collection (as it looked a couple of years back, there's more now): Many of the boxes have two or more kits in them.....I don't sell them, those are all for me.
  9. Slightly beefed up the relief force, you now have two whole platoons of T-62s plus the company HQ for a total of seven, count 'em, seven of the Soviet Union's finest MBTs (well the finest of the shonky tat they sent to Afghanistan anyway). This is definitely a scenario of two halves.....First you do the running and the hiding, then you do the smashing and the burning! It all balances out quite nicely now.....Very close to needing an external tester. PS - Having just said that I've discovered a small section of map that needs some more attention.
  10. The CM:SF expansions are all really good value for money.....I'd recommend getting them, you'll be glad you did.
  11. Tulips were a rare beast too.....They were only used by the Coldstream Guards: Allegedly the idea came from the Canadian Manitoba Dragoons who added aircraft rocket rails to their Staghound ACs: PS - If you are a Sherman fan and haven't seen them before (unlikely), the first two pictures will be utterly fascinating.....If not, well they're Shermans aren't they. PPS - The Tulip was a very effective weapon, somewhere amongst my references I've got a contemporary account detailing an engagement where a company of Coldstream Tulips took out a fortified position in a wood, if I find it I'll post it.
  12. Surely there's an issue regarding whether BF are now modelling the actual Ukraine conflict or continuing with their hypothetical one? Personally I think it's a good idea good to include some of the 'future AFV designs', but I'd also like to see all the historical bases covered too.....It's a game I'd be happy to see massively expanded, perhaps widening the scopeof the game (in both time and locale) might defuse some of the 'political issues' that break out here too? LLF's CM:SF II 'Crescent Of Chaos' is a brilliant idea (see page 2): IMHO a future war in Korea should be at least a candidate for consideration too.....The chances of arguments breaking out with disgruntled North Koreans seem pretty remote and the Chinese don't seem to have a particularly heavy presence around here either as far as I can tell.
  13. Nope, tanks swaps we just can't do.....But changing the names of the unit and the crew in the editor helps to create a somewhat more immersive feel. Combatintman & I have been collaborating to model the Iraqi CTS for some scenarios set around Mosul, the provisional core unit file is here if you want to take a look: https://www.dropbox.com/s/cvua331nq3b8f6i/[CORE] Iraqi CTS (Revised).btt?dl=0
  14. I'd imagine that for every video you see with a bomb scoring a hit there are about fifty that achieve nothing.
  15. It's probably a one in a million lucky hit on internal stores, but it's real.
  16. Command & Conquer gets re-skinned again?
  17. Not really.....I wrote the scenarios and they were the only copies.
  18. I thought the same to begin with JK, but I'm coming around to the conclusion that they are real.
  19. Actually I had to Google MoW.....I haven't looked elsewhere for platoon-battalion level systems since discovering CM (the originals). It took me a while to get into the CMx2+ engines, but now I am of the opinion they are pretty much without peer in terms of realism (if not always balance). If they get prettier, that's lovely, but I'd rather see the balance issues sorted and the game's scope expanded, long before I'd ever ask for anything to change on the graphics front. I doubt I am alone in that appraisal TBH.
  20. Trouble is, in this scenario there are swarms of them.....It's a full scale attack! As I said above, I've decided the simplest solution was to remove the spotters, it doesn't effect the feel of the game, indeed the balance feels pretty good to me (I know what's going on), so it should feel pretty bloody precarious to the player, which is about what I'm after. I'm going to build a series of simple test scenarios to determine what the actual situation with AI controlled artillery is in CM:A, I'll post results (& any notably enlightening test scenarios) here in due course. So, a bit more tweaking is required, but this one is pretty much wrapped up now, on the scripting front at least.....I'm sure I saw a 'briefing template' posted somewhere, but I can't find the damned thing. On a vaguely related note, I've posted my no-briefing 'Hammertime' FSA variant (it's in the BTR-82 in Syria thread) and Combatintman has very kindly provided me with most of what I need to make some CM:SF scuffles in & around Mosul, just for you.
  21. Crusader what? Is it a kind of tank? PS - Buddy of mine is a flight-simmer, he's spent similar amounts on all kinds of bizarre gear.....His joystick weighs a ton!
  22. Apply that maxim to all mainstream news and most of what you find on the internet too and you'll be nearer the mark.....Everybody has a perspective, most have an agenda too.
