  1. Which means it would look incredibly lame. On that note, I do wonder how BF is going to visually render Soviet riflemen, given that they were to have their bayonets fixed at all times in a combat zone. Heck, they didn't even issue them bayonet scabbards!
  2. Apparently you've not much experience in the world of combat flight sims, where the games with good mission editors have resulted in a lot of good, enjoyable, and fun missions and campaigns from the community of players. Il2 is a good example of that, and there's no reason why the CM games can't be the same way.
  3. Oooookay, if you say so. Better not look at the British troops, because they're much the same way.
  4. In other words, it's entirely baseless speculation.
  5. One of the Italian vehicles has the same sort of issue (the AS.42).
  6. That's probably the best idea, given that the same thing is done with the Panzerschreck.
  7. US Army, Airborne Demolition Team: There are several pieces of equipment that look like they are floating in thin air instead of being attached to the pistol belt, such as the entrenching tool, canteen, and first aid pouch:
  8. As womble said, or just simply not render it while riding in the jeep. That's what's done with the Panzerschreck and the Kubelwagen.
  9. Didn't check this in CMBN, but I imagine the problem is there as well: The bazooka clips through the floor of the Jeep and onto the ground when it's being carried by a soldier. (I also checked the Panzerschreck and Kubelwagens, but there's no problem there).
  10. I found this here: Sounds to me like the 9mm conversion was fairly common, and so it wouldn't be out of place to give it 9mm ammo on the German side. However, there's also the issue of how the 9mm ammo changed the weapon's muzzle velocity and effective range.
  11. Translating one or two words is a lot of work? Not trying to be a smartass, Steve, because I know the challenges of translating digital work (I work with translators for the Rise of Flight documentation), but it's not like we're asking for large blocks of text to be translated.
  12. This is a big one. Right now the way ammunition information is displayed is very counter-intuitive. What ammo is my squad carrying? What am I sharing with another squad? What ammo is actually assigned to this vehicle's weapon systems and what ammo can my infantry acquire for my own use? That sort of stuff is not conveyed very clearly right now. Oh, and another one: the UI needs more tooltips when hovering over a particular graphic. The graphics for rank insignia are one example of this; the C2 icons are another. And, lastly, for those running the game on larger resolutions, the amount of dead space taken up by the bottom portion of the screen is simply inexcusable. It may have been fine for CMx1 and the first iterations of CMSF, but that was years ago. It needs to be updated.
  13. Vehicle damage is definitely high on my wish list. Seeing knocked out tanks that had been hit by multiple AT rounds but displaying no external damage looks...odd.
  14. "You guys do the shooting. I'll just watch with my binoculars."
  15. Perhaps because your computer is woefully outdated? By that I mean - it seems plausible that people with low-end computers are not going to be particularly concerned with improvements to the graphics.
  16. That's not hardly the case. I can run mods with twice the stock resolution, and the game runs fine - and it looks much, much better. It's about time IMO that BF adds a "high-resolution textures" option to the game for those like me who have the hardware to run the game in high-detail mode. The default grass texture is a great example of a texture is just plain ugly to look at.
  17. I know it'll be good based on the team's track record, and many others feel the same. Let's leave it at that.
  18. Not really. The codebase between the two games is totally different, and I knew that long before I was a friend of his.
  19. Yep, it's a great pic. Some background info on it: German snipers at Kubschutz near the German town of Bautzen. April 25, 1945. German snipers of the 1st Parachute tanks First Division "Hermann Göring" in Kubshyutse (Kubschütz), captured from the Red Army on the outskirts Bautzen, Saxony. Snipers are armed with rifles of various types: Gewehr 43 (1st and 5th right), Mauser 98k (third from left), as well as captured Soviet Mosin rifle (third right) . On April 21, 1945 the Wehrmacht made its last counter-attack, which occurred in the left flank of the advancing units of the 1st Ukrainian Front. After several days of heavy fighting in the environment, a small portion managed to get through to her. The last German offensive halted April 26, 1945, but the fighting in the area continued until the end of April. 20. No, it's only you that is succeeding in being wrong here, as apparently you have no problem with mixing up terms. The Karabiner 98 was a modification of the Gewehr 98 and pre-dates WWI. The Karabiner 98k was based on the Kar98b, which also was a mod of the Gewehr 98. There were plenty of design differences among these, but ultimately they all point back to the Gewehr 98. That was the base of the design. Go ahead and amuse with your obtuse reply. I'm sure it'll be good.
