  1. I would say not that it is difficult. It is just time consuming. What helps is to just take it in bits and pieces. I have been slowly expanding Venafro since CM:GL was released. You can easily make a small map that is also time consuming if you really get into the details, but those are the maps I enjoy the most. Hell I still remember the first time I noticed that in Bois de Baugin, JonS had inserted flavor items inside buildings. It was pretty cool.
  2. Don't use that. Post them elsewhere and just use links. http://community.battlefront.com/topic/96193-how-to-take-a-screenshot-edit-it-and-post-it/
  3. then you'd have to have a subfolder for every scenario that you want to use a mod in that would be filled with the same files? Nah I think the current set up is pretty flexible and works really well and takes up less space on my hard drive. Tagging is actually pretty cool, and when the 173rd airborne campaign for CMBS is finally out, you'll see a very good example of how well it works.
  4. I think c3k's point was it is far too much work for us. Considering how little the community as a whole produces already, that is a very valid point. I do like making maps, but I don't know how many I would do with that much effort required. I own both Far Cry 3 and 4. I have made a partial map in each. In CM I have a bunch, one being a 1 km square urban map with a lot of detail. Non urban terrain is much easier. I think the general consensus we can pretty much all agree on is the kind of tools we would need to make much more detailed maps would cut down even further on the community provided maps as well as the time it would take to see product come from BF. That doesn't mean however I can't wish there was both an easy and highly detailed editor.....just so long as I understand the likelihood of that happening is pretty low.
  5. I think this may be a good place to ask and eventually get to experience the answer, or at least an answer. http://community.battlefront.com/topic/119864-173rd-ab-campaign-word/
  6. Link or it never happened.
  7. LOL yeah but compare the time it takes to get a poster on a wall in CM! Seriously though, yeah CM is not about becoming CIv 2or something. There are a few things I'd like additional, but I don't need to have 1st person shooter map making. For one, those maps tend to be in reality very small. I have a 1km square map that I would have a heart attack considering doing this way. Still it is pretty cool.
  8. I actually caught that in a game while testing. Total fluke and luck. The downstroke is straight from CM, that is not photoshopped, otherwise the tank commander might have ended up being Kim Kardashian. I don't know the technical specs for any of this stuff. I am strictly a player. I'd be curious as to how high a weapon can be intercepted, the speed and the angle. I have had close proximity Javs get stopped, but that was when they were in an almost direct fire mode it seemed. (by the way in case anyone it interested, that is from poking the bear. I don't remember if it was Brad or Stryker launched.
  9. Make sure your son understands that house rules means your house, your rules.
  10. heh, I have already done maps where both heavy rocks and mud were changed to rubble. What I was looking more at was the building shells. You just can't get that effect in CM yet.
  11. can you point me to a youtube showing one. Just curious as I'd really like to see what potential even if it isn't in the same genre has.
  12. Well you aren't really gonna say much significant in a couple paragraphs. Any real discussion of it's strengths and weaknesses would need a more serious review. For what it was, it isn't bad. The main points are, it is a good game, it is friggin addictive and it is unique. (and it is hard on the eyes of us geezers sometimes.) I don't think tank hunter said any of those made the game unplayable, he is just pointing out that the review made mention of things without noting the drawbacks, which I think is true. And honestly yeah I like the graphics. Do I want more? Absolutely. I want to be able to create maps like this. Considering though I haven't seen a game yet that will allow me to do that in an editor I expect it will remain a dream.
  13. ME probably likes Bacon. ME would be better if he served, was pictured near or was wrapped in Bacon.
  14. So far I have not had an M1 round intercepted in this test.
  15. Mr Big Stuff..... I want to see that on a mod!!
  16. So what you are saying is, you are jealous of how well endowed I am? LeBron, move over.
  17. not sure what the implication is. The V2 wasn't accurate enough to do anything about Normandy. As to the claim in the video. It makes the argument that hearing from the high ranking Germans confirmed what was only rumor...that makes for good story telling, but it is a questionable conclusion. http://users.rcn.com/salski/No05-06Folder/Jedd-Poland-Contribution.htm Polish intelligence reported in 1941 that the Nazis were building new and mysterious weapons in Peenemunde on the Uznam island, on the Baltic Sea. Polish reports and maps delivered to British intelligence in 1942 and 1943 were more specific, and indicated that they were building rockets capable of mass destruction. Whether the British actually believed those reports or whether it was the additional info that pushed them over the edge is hard to determine. It is a conclusion the film commentator makes however that isn't substantiated. From wiki Two Polish janitors[18]:52 of Peenemünde's Camp Trassenheide in early 1943[18]:52 provided maps,[19] sketches and reports to Polish Home Army Intelligence, and in June 1943 British intelligence had received two such reports which identified the "rocket assembly hall', 'experimental pit', and 'launching tower'.[2]:139 An additional interesting article on some of the intelligence info used to confirm Penemunde. http://www.globalsecurity.org/wmd/ops/peenemunde.htm Hard to tell if this info was actually as important by that point as they imply, but possible.
  18. Thanks Nercon. I think I have a good shot. The distance just so everyone knows is approx 500 meters. One suggestion Nercon for test maps, you want to remove any extraneous influences. I edited your map and put a wall on each end to the side to hide the formation units you used to create the scenario. They were coming into play and affecting how well I could replicate what we needed. As to the questions of velocity and other weapons systems, I'll leave that to the grogs. FYI I ran the test 5x each with the original Oplot and then replaced with an M1. All 5x the Oplot was intercepted. All 5x the M1 destroyed the target.
  19. Now now George, I wasn't born yesterday. You can't possible have a highlighter collection like this. 152 different colors!!!!
  20. Testing grounds are really important for separating gut feelings from certainty. It is a normal reaction to notice when things go wrong for you, to the point you don't really consider how often they go right. At least I know it is true for me. I have become inherently untrusting of my gut feelings in CM until I can verify them. As a beta tester it is really important to make sure when creating a ticket that you can replicate or at least have a very good save to show behavior. Without that you might as well skip ticket creating. Interesting thing is I am surprised at how often once I test I either can never recreate the event or I simply prove myself wrong. For example agusto's comment above. That is a very good point. I just had a Bulat fire a Kombat at a Russian T72. I didn't realize it until after having done multiple views of the shot I actually saw the Kombat amount decrement.
  21. This is the second time in as many days I have been accused of being wise... oh wait perhaps you meant to put the emphasis on simple.... So you were an early modder? George, I am confused. Thank you for the compliment, but the part following seems to imply crayons don't work. How else would you highlight stuff?
  22. it is interesting, not earth shattering in any sense. What is sadder is how little they made use of the info. I get that you hate to give up intelligence collecting methods, but this material is graphic enough to really have an impact. For one thing the myth of only the SS being culpable would have been wiped out.
