  1. Yes. Nice find. Military commissioned publications like these can often be found on the net, at the war colleges, or other military.edu sites, particularly the older pubs.
  2. Sorry, one more recommendation, also a Bing West book, and this one may indeed offer some inspiration for your effort.... Small Unit Action in Vietnam Summer 1966. It was commissioned by the Marine General Staff as part of an effort to provide enlisted Marines and junior officers with narratives of small unit actions for informational purposes and lessons learned. It was printed in '67 and done with little glitz and glamor, but it met the goal. I read it years ago. It's barely 100 pages, but you can't get it for Kindle at $2.99.
  3. Whether or not you find the inspiration you're seeking, this is an excellent read, as are all of West's books, IMHO. I believe it's still on the Commandant's reading list. No True Glory (Iraq), The March Up (Iraq), and The Wrong War (Afghanistan), are also excellent books. As a combat Marine and former ASD, he has a valuable perspective. Jim Mattis thought enough of him to have him co-author Call Sign Chaos. Hope you enjoy!
  4. Currently reading the book, authored by Jake Tapper. Story of COP Keating. Very good read. My son spent 15 miserable months in that AOR with the 173rd, a year prior to the main event. We were just discussing the book a couple nights ago and he told a story of sitting atop a cold windswept mountain watching the COP get pounded with mortars. Said they were only a short trek away as the crow flies, but given the terrain it would've taken them hours to reach it. Ironically, he found himself in nearly the same situation a short time later when on what was supposed to be his last few nights in
  5. Any sites other than TSD III host CMA scenarios, or MODs for that matter?
  6. Very fond of this game....scratches a different itch. Hope you enjoy it.
  7. Recently upgraded to 4.0 and for many scenarios my weapon and unit IDs are out of whack. Example: playing Beyond the Belice scenario as U.S. Rangers and one of my Ranger platoons is IDing as 2nd Rhino, A Dutch Army, 1st BM-43, and the unit's Thompson is displaying as an M4A1 76mm. Is this likely a mod issue or a scenario not fit for 4.0? I have over 30 mods under my CMFI Z folder. Anyone have an idea which mod may causing the problem? Otherwise, I suppose I'll have to remove all mods and re-insert them one-by-one to determine the issue.
  8. Off the charts entertainment value!!! Well done....well done. For the better part of a month, a quick cup of coffee and a 15-20 minute scroll through this thread each morning before heading out the door to the salt mine was the perfect vaccine for the madness that invariably ensued. Whatever shall I do with my mornings, now??? *Snap*! Onto the Axis thread....what else?
  9. Aye! Still play CMA fairly often. With a little imagination it's not difficult to immerse yourself, even with the outdated engine and models. Currently slogging my way through a poppy field with a DRA unit, awaiting the inevitable ambush.
  10. Yaaawwwnnn! Visit any successful gaming software forum and you'll witness the same angst, playing out across countless threads and posts, ad nauseum. Sorry, not bagging on anyone, but I have to wholeheartedly agree with Mr. Emrys. I love CM. I have every game and module dating back to the original, but it's a miniscule part of my life and I have scant time to fret over the next release. My life is far too full and complicated. That, and I'm still having so much fun with the six CM games clogging my hard drive.....not to mention the hurricane bearing down on me with all the wrath of the g
  11. From pre to post battle, I thoroughly enjoyed this presentation....a real pleasure to witness "virtually". You're both to be commended!
  12. Still playing this game. Care to share your MODs further? PM sent. Thanks!
