With all respect, my friend, I have no pity on Russian soldiers, but on Ukrainian civilians. I'm with Kraze on this. Those escaped russians will climb in another tank or truck and continue to kill and destroy.

Time won with Minsk accords was used absolutely to its fullest to change a lot of things in the army.
This is why it was such a shock for russians when they realized they aren't fighting an army that was stuck in the '80s together with them, like it was back in 2014 - but an army that trained hard for years by NATO in how to do logistics and insurgency.
Of course UAF isn't as effective as US army in that regard - but the difference is major.

The plan all along was to brutalize the urban population no matter how the war went. The Russians had collected a veritable rogue's gallery of 'hard boys' to insert into the cities, from Chechen gangs to mobsters to Russian riot police. I get the impression if they could contract with ISIS (who were largely Russian, BTW) to cause havoc they would.

The convention doesn't restrict itself to "war".  I went and read some yesterday out of curiosity.  It also covers a number of types of conflict.  I think however they may need to revisit some aspects of the convention.  Russia is way over the top violating everything in the convention and is a signatory.  The videos etc are an attempt to break through the Russian media lies in the hopes of getting information to the Russian people on the reality and stopping the war.  The Geneva convention may need to adapt to the reality of social media.
Regarding the crimes committed by Russian troops an argument could be made that as Russia has not declared war, Ukraine is free to try these criminals in their own courts.

While clearly sarcastic, a fair point could be made that one cannot ignore international laws of war on the one hand, and then simultaneously bring charges in international criminal court regarding violations of those same laws. 
That being said I think one crime (the murder of civilians) is a bit more serious than the other (the doxxing of surrendered soldiers). The second is far more common, and to be honest I think the law in this case is out of step with the realities of war. Im not a lawyer or anything, but I have a hard time seeing how Ukraine has treated these soldiers as wrong.

How are you holding up @Haiduk and our other Ukrainian family. I really appreciate all the comments you are sharing in the thread. I want you to know that everyone I know here in the USA stand behind you and Ukraine. We are glad to see reports of weapons  and intel flowing into Ukraine. I hope you can see some signs of them arriving this past week. Please stay safe, you and your families. 
 
I really hope NATO can find a reason (and the guts) to enforce a no-fly zone over Ukraine. Even with the risks of WWIII. I believe it could make all the difference. A stealth no-fly zone would see Russian aircraft mysteriously disappearing off of the scopes and force Russia to keep its Air Force grounded. Just my honest opinion.

If the transfer of planes is going to occur, could get into an almost Battle of Britain feel to it .  One important aspect of that historical success was that shot down British pilots were parachuting into friendly territory unlike the Germans.  Same situation could apply here.
