  1. I see your point, maybe the crew had a high experience rating? I just completed a scenario where my Abrams engaged a T90 at point blank range and failed to penetrate the side of the T90. My Abrams then recieved fire from the T90 and a hidden RPG, both doing no damage. By this stage my crew were shaken and promptly bailed out of their undamaged vehicle.
  2. Yes infantry combat is vastly improved. For me it's the biggest improvement in 1.10 and a critical one at that since this really is the guts of the game. It's great to see a quality squad get ambushed, stand toe to toe with the enemy, often giving better than their taking, then seek cover. Instead of hitting the dirt and crawling around pretending to be invisible. Now a peek / shoot round corners ability would be nice. Anyhow well done Battlefront!
  3. Opps I didn't realise this thread was already running with JK and friends. Thanks for the reply anyway Costard.
  4. This is probally old news to a lot of you but this has me fascinated http://shock.military.com/Shock/videos.do?displayContent=176143&page=2 any ideas what he's hinting at?
  5. I did a few more tests, moving fast around the corner into the ambush zone instead of moving in hunt mode. In hunt mode they were dropping to the ground and crawling to cover, occasionally returning fire. Moving fast or quick around the corner they halted when they saw the enemy, remained standing and quickly returned fire, sometimes even firing first and often owning the fight. Very nice!
  6. My first impressions are really good. The first thing I did was fire up a little test mission I had where a squad walks around a building corner into an ambush. Previously they would go to ground and try to reach a building door to get to cover, even though that meant crawling towards the enemy... Now they try to get back around the corner to where they came from and any squad members who hadn't entered the ambush zone halt and refuse to enter it. Even when I reordered them to, good stuff!
  7. In regard to the progression of future CM 2 WW2 releases on the Eastern front. Can anyone else see the merit if they were released in historical order? I think it would give a better sense of history and if nothing else the early war tanks in Barbarossa would make a nice contrast following on from CM 2 Normandy.
  8. I agree, I think the ability to take you time to carefully clear areas to keep casulties to a minimum would be more realistic than you have this set time to achieve X. Unless there is a valid reason for a time constraint, such as rescue this ambushed unit, ect.
  9. Thanks for that clarification and insight.
  10. Well for a few reasons. I would be reading the current rules, it's good value and a way of supporting Battlefront.
  11. So if I pre order the Combat Mission Shock Force + Marines Bundle it will include the updated 1.1 manual and not the old initial release manual? I'm tempted to buy another copy of CM:SF if it does include the updated manual.
  12. I think it would be really useful if the onscreen orders popup was colour coded like it was in the CM1 games, even with symbols before the text. It would greatly speed up finding the order you are looking for as it did in CM1.
  13. Games I am looking forward to besides any future CM2 releases. Operation Flashpoint 2 , Fallout 3, War in the Pacific (Admiral's edition?).
  14. Mord and Bodkin, your mods are spot on. Much more immersive. Many thanks!
  15. Or how about the option for the real time to pause upon certain triggers. Such as enemy unit spotted, casualty taken. I think this would make real time much more playable.
  16. M1 looking great! Your talent at skinning keeps amazing me. I can't say i'm a big fan of the Aussie desert cam. I think the designer needs his crayon set rammed somewhere. [ December 27, 2007, 04:09 AM: Message edited by: Spindry69 ]
  17. Hmm, should they even able to fire the AT4 at a target that close? I read that the AT4 has a 100 meter backblast.
  18. Armed Assult 2 will have AI that will make use of cover, in dynamic, unscripted maps.
  19. I totally agree. The cumbersome sorting through of the existing menus is a major negative and makes CM:SF a lot less fun to play than it deserves. When I think about it, this is one of the few reasons why I don't play CM:SF as much as i'd like too. We really need the RMB menu brought back. I'm curious what the official take on this is. 20. Thanks, very nice. I'm starting to realise just how much potenial the CM2 engine has when it goes WW2.
  21. Other games fully moddabe are Armed Assult and Oblivion. If anything they are much more popular and have greater longevity because of their strong mod community. If it's not to be it's not to be but in the case of CM WW2 i'll miss all those obscure vehicle variants that the mod community could release but Battlefront understandibly doesn't have the time or resources too.
  22. I think small arms accuracy is way too accurate at the moment. Many times iv'e had most if not all of a squad mown down seconds after dismounting. The accuracy may be fine for the US troops but I thought average Arab soldiers wern't renowned for their training and many just spray and pray.
