Just thought I'd share with you all the ongoing adventures of Tube Guytm Yes. He literally missed the broad side of a building. -

I agree. Really? There's literally nothing else improved about anything whatsoever? Not even a tiny little bit? That's awful. -

MMG/HMG Building Setup
General Jack Ripper replied to JoMac's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
While I haven't tested this in v4, this is a phenomenon I have wrestled with in the past. http://community.battlefront.com/topic/120293-mg-bridge-number-seven-slim-vs-john-kettler/?do=findComment&comment=1627871 When a machinegun sets up in a building, it does not like turning to face a new direction by more than a few degrees. If ordered to target something outside of that arc, the gunners will happily spend time undeploying the gun, moving, then redeploying the gun, which on average can take as much as 4 minutes. If you are trying to target something off a corner of a building, or slightly outside the view of any windows, the gunners will simply deploy the gun repeatedly, find they can't target, then deploy again endlessly. My best advice, leave the gun semi-deployed if you have that option, or if you have to change facing on an MG that can't fire semi-deployed, your best bet is to exit the house and find a new position. It will save you much time and headache. -

Pros and cons of on map mortars.
General Jack Ripper replied to Mark_McLeod's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
American mortar crews in particular can make good ad-hoc assault troops when their mortar ammo is all gone, they are a team full of M1 Carbines and a Thompson SMG. Just pass them some extra .30 Carbine and .45 ammo if it's available. There's nothing better than box-magazine fed, semi- and fully- automatic weapons when you're clearing houses in this game. -
Combat Mission: TTP
General Jack Ripper replied to General Jack Ripper's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I know it's been a while since I posted anything, but I will not apologize. Life is life after all. Anyways, I wanted to get some feedback on the use of infographics. The next TTP video is going to use a lot of them. https://www.dropbox.com/s/1c3gzic20dwcdt5/ApproachDanger.bmp?dl=0 This is an example infographic intended to show an example of selecting approach routes.. Is it clear? Concise? Does it convey the information easily? Any feedback you guys can give would be great. -

If it ain't broke, it doesn't need updating. I have yet to see a single thing that FRAPS doesn't work with, except for small hard drives. -

I think the Hubble Deep Field Survey did more to alter our perception of the universe than anything following the discovery of the spherical earth. Here's something cool, I don't know if I posted this around here before. Who knew gasoline could be so interesting? Among other things, of course: -
How do you rag-tag?
General Jack Ripper replied to hypeman's topic in CMSF Scenario and Mod Design Forum
Some things can be rag-tagged, and some things cannot. Helmets, uniforms etc. can, weapons cannot. The "Little-Guide to Rag-Tagging" is here: http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=314&func=fileinfo&id=665 -

https://www.youtube.com/user/NormalDude1066 Our very own Normal Dude has his own channel. https://www.youtube.com/user/Ithikial Ithikial as previously mentioned has one of the largest CM only channels as far as I know. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0Y5U7EYn4HO9dCSJsQH0Pg Josey Wales has a smaller channel, but his 'machininatography' is excellent. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCioGCKEcV-5tsgJEJdNUJoA Same with Peiper tj, he has wonderful video style. Those are my top 4. Most others I've heard of have already been mentioned. -
I almost didn't even blast my way in, until I realized I had two demo charges at my disposal. I keep forgetting the Marine loadout is different. Honestly, I had plenty of ammo. Barely used any of it. Then again, I was never decisively engaged. Yeah, I figured running the HUMINT guy to exhaustion was a small price to pay to stay ahead of any pursuit. He can hydrate and catch his breath now that he's safely on the chopper. Definitely enjoyable. I love a little covert action from time to time. I actually had no idea whether or not the Blast against the angled wall would put a hole in the building or not, that was just the safest place I could see to breach the wall. The orders were to Blast the wall, then Quick into the building (hoping the bad guys would be pinned by the explosion), and luckily it all turned out okay. Every brilliant maneuver is 50% luck after all... I never use Hunt to enter a blasted building, because any occupants won't stay Pinned for long (usually about 30 seconds), also using Hunt can lead to half your team outside the building, and half inside it if they encounter enemies while entering. I either let the Blast Command itself bring my guys inside, or I order a Quick move (so they'll stop and shoot anyone they see while entering). My one WIA came from him being shot while running up the stairs, but my guys downstairs eliminated the threat before anyone else got hit. The background is "Background Sounds Remixed" which is still on the Repository. The base markers came integrated with the NVG mod. Normally I use Bil's Hex Markers. (That wasn't a Red X, it was an Orange X, the guy isn't dead, damnit! ) I had 100 Meter arcs on at the beginning, but after the breach, we probably woke up the whole neighborhood, so I let my guys free-fire. Might as well stop the bad guys at maximum range.

Be sure to read your mission briefing, sometimes you are given heavy artillery assets specifically to allow for a pre-planned barrage. No matter what type of FO's or HQ's you have, pre-planned barrages can be set by anyone, and always arrive on target. -
