  1. It's too bad we can't enter those structures. I love the tight roads and town configs. This game needs an editor so we can build our own scenarios!
  2. Hey! Will there be the occasional female Soviet trooper? I know Russia used women as combat troops to some extent. Will we see them?
  3. Yeah, but if they include a "disable" feature, then no one will be able to capture anything that they don't kill the entire crew of. I for one look forward to turning MG42s against the Huns! I think running our own abandoned equipment over with our own tanks and blowing them up with our own guns is enough.
  4. If they don't add in "all your base are belong to us," then I'm not buying it!!!
  5. Great stuff! LOL!! I loved the German officer getting pissed at loosing while playing IL-2.
  6. Three things kept me with CM for the long haul: 1. An editor. 2. The QB feature. 3. The modders reskinning everything.
  7. I'm pretty excited about it despite some of the limitations. I look forward to plopping down my hard-earned cash for a copy.
  8. Sweet. Those will probably be very easy to take-out though. They should be very limited-use moblie MG teams. I hope we see similar "cool" things in CMx2 WWII. I just hope we don't see them being used in the classic "jeep recon rushes" of CM.
  9. Nah, that thing is just a late war 251 when they were making them out of clay due to metal shortages. The streaks are made with a leaf rake.
  10. Damn COG, it's been really rough on you of late man!! Well, my wife just beat a breast cancer scare no too long ago (she had it, but it was inactive and removed), and my world started to fall apart because I had no idea what I was going to do without her, so I know what you are feeling right now. As for the site, we love it, but you get the more important things in life taken care of for yourself before you worry about all of us and the future of CMMOS. We'll miss it for sure, but we understand your situation. Buck up. Karma always is in balance, so there are good things in store for you and your wife in the future!! My wife and I will keep you in our thoughts.
  11. Discard the 5. You might luck out and get a boat. Then raise the hell out of the pot.
  12. Try Railroad Tycoon II or III. Now boxcars, engines, and tenders (and damaged versons to simulate train wrecks) that can be placed on tracks (or off to the side for the derailed wrecks) to simulate rail yards and such would be great!! But functional trains don't make sence, even the armored types. [ October 03, 2003, 06:56 PM: Message edited by: Vader's Jester ]
  13. Download "Germanboy's" byte battles from the Scenario Depot. They are great quick engagements!
  14. I have to agree with Juju here. I sometimes want to reach in a kill a gun crew myself when they abandon their weapon because one damn 81mm mortar round landed 30m away from them! The AI having more ability to abandon it's equipment would suck. Now if the AI was forbidden to have it, then yes, I see some limited use in the player being able to tell an isolated unit to bail and run like hell. Makes for a more realistc game for those that play as though their men are real (as I try too), but the recrew option would be a 100% no-no. I still wish heavy weapon crews had rifles so they could fight like ad-hoc infantry units. This could be done by keeping them easy to panic even when in command.
  15. Human Wave is totally worthless IMHO. CMBB does not simulate enough troops in 95% of scenarios to justify human wave tactics. Besides, even if you had a 10 to 1 diffrence vs the German side, would you really want to use a command that sends 75% of your men to their graves while the remaining 25% shove their faces in the dirt and cry out for mommie? I think this command would suit an operational level game better that a tactical one of CM's scale. Speaking of operational games, I have been eye-balling Korsun Pocket. Might have to grab it after Trotter's excellent review of it in this month's PC Gamer. Gonna wait for the price to drop thou...
  16. There used to be a guy on this forum named Fred that threatend Matt he would still play CM not by buying it, but playing with pirated copies, and pirating them to sell for himself. Well, Matt banned him anyway (the guy had a real attitude problem, and thought he was a business god because he claimed to have gone to business school in Germany). I always wondered if he did the pirating or not. Kind of silly really. A guy who preached his ethics to others (and got pissed when he wasn't agreed with) had no ethics of his own.
  17. Whatever. In my day we stood in the middle of town against one another, snapping 'fausts off the hip at high noon over saloon disputes I tells yah! Them was the days!
  18. Too late. Bush has committed us to screwing up the mid east. Canada will have to wait in line!! We'll deal with those DANG NAZIS in due time!! Make one people mad at us at a time. From ABC NEWS; September 11th, 2033: 'Canadian terrorists hijack four American commercial airliners today with hockey sticks while yelling, "Get to the back of the plane eh! We'll kill any hoser that tries to mess with us." The passengers mostly said over cell phones to their loved ones that they just couldn't stop laughing at the terrorists. This worked to the terrorist's advantage however as no passenger could resist while doubled-over in pain like this. The targets? Bill Gate's house (not much of a loss), Disneyland (a wicked blow to that evil empire), The Governor's office in California (again, not much of a loss), and the Republican party headquarters (a major step forward for American politics and the future of the UnUnited States). Unfortuately for these would be attackers, the Department of Homeland Defence had pre-programed all commercial aircraft to smash into WalMarts at random if hijacked in responce to the original September 11th attacks (again, not much of a loss). "Yeah, well, these hosers ain't gonna push us around no more," said a representive of the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Leafs are belived to have planned the attack along with members of the terrorist group Kwazy Kanucks lead by the infamous Michael Dorosh. The FBI and CIA said they were too busy infighting to try to track down Dorosh and said in time they would get to it. "Yeah, we figured since Osama was so dang hard to find we wouldn't waist our time with Dorosh. We're too busy finishing up the final stages of this conspir--er, gotta go, boss is calling me." The President, George Bush Jr Jr, said that we would be responding with a full nuclear salvo because "we got all these cool bombs and nothing to blow them up with. Now we do."' 19. Yeah, but think about it. Waist deep snow, with a brisk jog, with a full kit, thick and heavy winter garb to stay warm in, trying to be aware of your surroundings, ducking, hunching, quick sprints, and trying to lay down fire if any enemy is in front of you. I think 10 meters my be slightly overdone (let's say 20 is better), but that would still be a rough deal for any person for sure.
