  1. Hi Folks, Well, I can now say I've had the first video issues I haven't been able to figure out. I installed Window Blinds (a UI "enhancer") and I think it dorked things. I've removed the program, but there seems to be some lingering video issues. Here's some screenies. Notice the hightlighted text. I tried at both the usual 1600x1200, then dropped down to 1024x768 to see if that helped. no dice. Starting 1600 Setup 1600 Sturmy 1600 Starting 1024 Setup 1024 Sturmy 1024 Weird how the startup at 1024x768 is ok, but everything else is still dorked. I've removed, then reinstalled the drivers, but no luck. Oh, and I'm using the most current drivers: 2832w2k I certainly hope i don't have to reinstall the OS, but it may have to be done. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! [ July 22, 2003, 10:55 PM: Message edited by: leakyD ]
  2. Great camo. Would it be possible to camo AnfrewTF's JPZIV? That'd be swell!
  3. Good Lord, JuJu! Your attention to detail is amazing. Now please excuse me while I mop all this drool of the table.
  4. and if you didn't buy smoke (or were given by the AI/scenario setup) as the attacker, what the *hell* are you doing fixating on a few Mg's for? A Flag? ONE avenue of approach? Bypass, flank, back off, look for another way, hell, anything son. Don't give the enemy the luxury of having your react to him. Make him react to you. Easier said than done, but a good rule to heed nonetheless. Unless your on the open steppe, in which case, pray for CAS or have your boys crawl!
  5. Way cool! Nice to see the captured stuff getting some attention. Is it me, or are the lines on the yellow one kinda washed? The grey one seems more "crisp". Maybe it's just a color thang?
  6. Barumpity. bump. bump. Lovely, G. That dirty, rusty stuff is very nice....
  7. Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss! I really like the welds and the drippy bits on the hull front. All kinds of realistic 'n stuff.
  8. Ok, ran some tests, and... the T-34m43 is a superior tank "frontally" in early 1943 against axis armor (well, anything under 75 longs). weather effects on AP was inconsistent, leading me to believe there is no difference w. modeling. [ May 24, 2003, 03:24 PM: Message edited by: leakyD ]
  9. Hmmmm... I didn't think so, but those '34's sure did last a while. Time to run some tests! Thanks for the reply,
  10. Wow. Great stuff, Limey. That IIIN really needed some help. I am a happy boy now!
  11. Just finished a game where my t-34 m43's lasted extra extra long for some reason (they usually tend to die kinda quickly). There were a lot of ricochets, from both 50mm long and 75mm short shots. Ranges were 500m or less. Weather was freezing. Would freezing conditions have anything to do with shell break up/ricochet upon impact? Or was I just especially lucky this time? Curious minds want to know. Thanks! 12. B- Great stuff. Wanna play with Mr. Noobies Dunkelgelb King Tiger? I think you'd have fun! SCRATCHTIGER2.ZIP at cmmods
  13. Well, as hindsight *is* 20/20... Aren't experience levels acting as one "level" lower in CMBB compared to CMBO? so: Green = Conscript Regular = Green Veteran = Regular and so on. So, in CMBO terms, you had a Green shreck team out of command trying to nail a tank. In my experience, Green AT teams are almost worthless. Poor little fellers were prolly too busy crapping their pants to aim worth a damn!
  14. any chance of a post so we can view them? these would be great with accompanied voice AAR's
  15. Old Modders never die. They just keep on modding.
  16. Anyone feel like making this mod? Unfortunately, I ain't gots da skillz.
  17. DEFINITIVESWASTIKAPACK_JUJU.ZIP ...would be the file to look for. *way* cool. thanks, juju!
  18. Thanks for the replies. I'm all good on the offense (w/r/t dealing with allied inf). I have no problem softening things accordingly before sweeping over the objective. The problem I get is on defense in low light, woods, or built up areas where there is no or little capacity for maintaining range. In these situations, "sneaks up" happen and unless I have 3-1 ratios w/ the units getting attacked, I get walked over. It would seem that in these situations, effective forward OP's (or screening units) are necessary to spot Allied inf before they get too close for comfort. Maintaining range is key.
  19. Hi there- So I did a few searches and it appears there's been no discussion on how Axis infantry can effectively deal with short range (less than 100m) infantry combat against Allied infantry. If so, I would greatly appreciate any links. Obviously, the Allied short range firepower is a item that must be heeded. I've found at times Axis units getting surprised (EFOW is not fun if your on the receiveing end), by Allied inf, and before anyone can say "Was den?" (that's German for "Eh?"), they're at 50% casualties or worse, and yes, they're off to momma real quick like. Can't really blame them, can you? Was there any historical SOP's used by Axis units caught with their "pants down" so to speak? Are there *any* tips/tricks that can be used to extend a unit's lifespan should they find themselves up against high firepower Allied infantry at short range? Or, should said situation present itself, should one resign to the fact they're that unit is pretty much a goner?
  20. Interesting pic. These boys look 14-16yrs old. You sure they're not from an auxillary formation or something? Wouldn't surprise me if the VG's or Hitler Youth or some other similar formations used older equipment. Then again, it could just be a training pic. Items used in training are not always issued to (or used by) regular combat units. I'm totally ignorant on the subject. Anyone?

  22. Good Lord!!!     GEM, my good sir, you are outdoing yourself. Only 299+ more vehicles to go!
  23. You can't keep a good man down, can you? GEM, I, for one, support your new "less(modding) is more" philosophy. Quality has a quantity all its own.
  24. Nice one, PM. I esp. like the bubbled steel, as well as the damaged skirts. REALLY gives it an authentic feel. Thank you very much.
