  1. If it comes to that, what about female troops? Certainly need em in the modern titles, and IIRC the Soviets had them as well. (They did in "Cross of Iron" with James Coburn, so it must be true.)
  2. Nice signs. Don't forget to weather dirt em up - bullet holes etc. Can they be made bent out of shape?
  3. Painted? All the models I see are so beautiful Am still surprised that youngsters can afford anything but a few items. Or, perhaps the historical wargamers are a different (older and with more money - like RR modelers) market from the fantasy gamers.
  4. I recall seeing a funny "rock band style" T-Shirt: "Hitler World Tour 1939-1945" with a list of the cities his band was playing in.
  5. Thanks Aquila... Keep up the amazing work you are doing!
  6. Was just trying to determine which scenarios with very similar names can be deleted. So will delete v4 and focus on v6 and the "Halt Hammerzeit!" variant. Just started and enjoying v6 now. Thanks George.
  7. I wonder how they can afford it... Maybe it's a middle class thing?
  8. Been playing the Canadians in "The Khabour Trail" campaign and their vehicles are all green as if for Europe. I have a desert color LAV mod but this doesn't show up in this campaign - so maybe it's exclusively for the US(?) Anyone know of a Canadian desert LAV mod... Or can one rename the desert colored LAV mod that exists so it shows up for the Canadians?
  9. Wargaming miniatures has gone the way of RR modeling. That used to be for kids when I wuz one. Now it's an expensive hobby which has become the preserve of relatively well-off oldsters who have the money (and time). Young folks these days are just trying to keep their heads above the mountains of debt they have been saddled with (largely from going to those ridiculous new 3rd rate "universities/colleges" that have proliferated to make money and churn out poorly educated folks with useless degrees).
  10. Ya gotta watch that "burn-out" Mord and take a break. I think there is a point where the most dedicated CM enthusiasts just can't do it anymore. We've lost so many talented folks over the years.
  11. Yes, unless one is an experienced game/graphics programmer it's hard to figure out what is possible vs what is practical. However, one has to "shoot for the stars" to get anything worthwhile accomplished. Even if you don't quite make it, you'll probably hit the moon - and that would be damn good.
  12. Re hilly terrain, some CMSF scenarios have incredibly craggy, hostile terrain - elsewhere I mentioned "A Helluva Opening" and "UK A Helluva Takeover" which have outstanding maps that feature some of the most inhospitable terrain ever seen in a CM2 game. Hope designers use it for scenarios for other titles like CMFI. eg: a North Africa mod version.
  13. LAV's are another example of vehicles that have dedicated crews and no one else seems to be able to embark if the original crew disembarks. In addition vehicles like LAV's have 5.56mm ammo that seems to be usable by troops, but no one can embark to acquire it. There are other vehicles like Humvees with 50 cals, AGL's etc that also will not accept other troops as new crews. (However, troops can embark these Humvees to acquire extra ammo.) PS: Just realized that this is for CMBS. My experience with this issue has been mostly with CMSF1 and 2. So, CMBS may have different issues. The only thing that's certain is that it's all rather confusing.
  14. The mods make a huge difference. I still hold that at level 3 or 4 and higher, a heavily modded CM1 game looks about as good as CM2. At close up obviously there is no contest of course.
  15. For desert scenarios the desert look is the way to go. (Good idea making it a single object - presumably units can enter it.)
  16. This will do for the CM2 graphics what MOS's amazing designs did for gameplay. Very exciting.
  17. I have both v4 and v6. So, v4 is obsolete and should be deleted... it is not a variant?
  18. From the press you have been finding it seems like detailed modeling is taking off as a leisure activity. Can wargaming and the big bucks that brings in be far behind?
  19. Bootie has asked for no more uploads as dealing with those is slowing down implementation of CMMODS IV. So, Dropbox is it for now. Hey MOS... Would these techniques enable you to make more realistic ships for your Coup scenario?
  20. Thanks for that. So, the v4 can be deleted? Uncertain if that was a variant or just an obsolete version. Please designers, label your scenario designs clearly so we know what it is. There are more than a few scenarios and even campaigns that have same or similar names (other than date of release) and one can't tell if they are variants or versions without loading em. And when I loaded "NATO Halt! Hammerzeit!" that looks the same as "Hammertime". Anyone played these or know if there is a difference?
  21. Wow. Amazing work! It seems like forever we thought all these graphical things were impossible.
  22. In Khabour Trail when the Canadian Platoon Support Squad is split into "Assault" teams, the team labeled "Rifle" has the MG, and the "Machinegun" team has the AT weapon.
  23. Link not working at this time(?) BTW: Is this the "NATO Halt! Hammerzeit!" scenario? I have "Halt! Hammerzeit!" and noticed that it has exactly the same description as Hammertime v4 and v6, but those must have been the older versions for CMSF1.
