  1. I do not KNOW if they are authentic WW2 images, but they look like that to me. People nowadays tend to look different. Watch their faces. Also each photo has a text that is shown when you move mouse pointer above the photo. They tell some info about the picture. Color of most photos has been added later. There are some examples on page 1 which show the original black and white photo and next to it a version with colours.
  2. This little robot can do gymnastics: quadruple backflip etc. All these videos are worth watching. http://io9.com/watch-this-robot-perform-a-perfect-quadruple-backflip-799858553
  3. My guess is that here you have LOS, but not LOF. Sometimes some tank crew member may have LOS to target, but gunner doesn't. I've had similar experiences when there were quite a few trees between my tank and the enemy.
  4. In Olympic games we have just human competitors, but machines are already challenging people in sports. Man vs machine table tennis match, March 11th:
  5. That link claimed bomb's blast radius to be 28meters, but effective casualty radius - 200 meters
  6. If feedback might contain spoilers it would be nice if the player could send text feedback to scenario author ONLY, not for other players to see. Something useful for other players: I'd like an option where I could recommend a scenario for either H2H or to be played against the AI. This way players might have easier time finding scenarios good for some playing mode. All scenarios are NOT good for H2H, yet all scenario briefings do not mention this.
  7. Yes, I'm interested in trying what kind of tricks can be done with the trigger system we're getting now. Surely it will develop, like infantry's tactical AI has done during CMx2 development.
  8. We know already that this will be the first version of triggers. No branching or other similar stuff. No new scripting AFAIK. Still it's far from texture-mod because all Russian units are new. Yes, fewer people play CM so finding opponents doesn't happen in seconds. But now when TCP/IP-WEGO becomes possible, maybe more opponents will be available. PBEM works well. I don't see "find opponent in seconds" a big problem there because most PBEM games take weeks to finish. Maybe AI opponent makes more sense if you've never done scenarios yourself. Once you understand how it works (doesn't react to what you do) it's difficult to play against it.
  9. And the best fix to problems in SP mode is to play against human opponents. The AI will never get as good as a real human opponent. Effectiveness and suppression of weapons is much better now than in CMBN 1.x.
  10. DARPA robotics challenge: shows what kind of tasks a moving robot is capable of. Quite impressive
  11. I wonder if this CMSF 3.0 upgrade will change its QB system? IMO it was by far the weakest point of the game and the reason why I haven't played it after CMBN was released.
  12. IRL it's much easier to spot movement than static objects. I wonder if CM's spotting algorithm takes this into account? For example if those spotted soldiers were just standing in their fox holes against similar colored background that should be clearly more difficult to spot than if they were running in the forest.
  13. I would love to see such crew comms delays added to tanks. Even if technology allows some things to happen many changes in tank state involve communication between people and they always slow things down and include possibility of error.
  14. British Taranis military drone first flight footage And what is it
  15. +1. I played several such QB games in CMBB.
  16. Robocop soon in beta test: http://rt.com/usa/california-company-android-robocops-knightscope-645/
  17. I have no idea what kind of game specific map objects we'll see in CMRT. Probably at least buildings and bridges are different from those we see in MG module's scenarios.
  18. This would be useful even if only some of the information could be converted, like just elevation part but no buildings etc.
  19. About detecting and clearing mines these days: http://www.theguardian.com/global-development/2014/jan/22/giant-rats-mozambique-landmines
  20. Over 1000 WW2 photos. Mostly from Soviet side, but NOT just from east front. https://secure.flickr.com/photos/36919288@N08/
  21. If you think about the OP case: bomb explosion that creates a 10m wide crater. Nobody is going to be right next to such explosion and after a few seconds be like nothing had happened.
  22. I can't remember whether the soldier heard a click or felt something under his boot, but he stopped anyway. No idea how realistic that is - you know a mine is going to explode once you move - movies are movies
  23. older discussion here http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=113359
  24. I recently watched a 3 part movie from TV where events took place during WW2. In one of the scenes German infantry was advancing towards Moscow through some large swampy area. Water was often 10-20cm deep. During such advance they noticed they had entered a minefield when one of the soldiers heard a click under his boot. Others moved away and then the mine exploded when the soldier lifted his boot. Because no gun firing was heard they assumed no enemy soldiers were nearby. The ground was so wet, so soldiers didn't hit the ground either. So did they choose another path to avoid the mines ahead? The solution was to take some civilians to march in front and soldiers followed. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1883092/
