Are triggers also used in QB maps? I played a QB against the AI and it seemed to me that at one point once I had gotten units to a certain area enemy infantry counter attacked.

Maybe they let preordered people download first, others later - like starting from Saturday? -

Even if both players select Cease fire, the game doesn't always end immediately. Why this is so in PBEM (keep exchanging turn files until it really ends), I have no idea.

Will 3.0 unbalance older scenarios?
SlowMotion replied to warrenpeace's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I wonder how this works in practise. If a FO has ordered Fire For Effect, can he then start spotting rounds for another artillery unit? Or does the first fire mission have to end before another can be started? -
Just finished playing that as PBEM game. It was quite interesting scenario until the final AAR screen. Different sides had different objectives and the most valuable objective of the attacker wasn't an objective for the defender at all. I found that a very strange decision from scenario author, since it gave such easy points for one side. Just move some units to a part of map that has no defending units because it is not a defender's objective.

Just being curious, is spotting speed affected by unit's condition? Things like whether a unit is fit or unfit, ready or tired/worse? -
And this is how the robot played:

Vehicle spots without crew
SlowMotion replied to SlowMotion's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
It's not a problem once you KNOW that it shows the overall situation. But if you THINK it works like other units and gives spotting info that wouldn't be available otherwise then it would be a bug. -
Vehicle spots without crew
SlowMotion replied to SlowMotion's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
No, the Jeep is not highlighted. Some of my other units are highlighted when I select this tank. It's a PBEM game, cannot remember difficulty level. I checked and it seems when selecting a vehicle without crew, things work the same way as if NO unit was selected. Not the way I'd do this, but I guess it's the logical reason for what happens in this case. Thanks Ian.Leslie. -
Vehicle spots without crew

No, there was just the driver in the Jeep and he dismounted. Still the Jeep could spot. And what the driver spotted just few meters away was totally different than the Jeep. -
Vehicle spots without crew
SlowMotion replied to SlowMotion's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
If you re-read my opening post, there was NOTHING about units that only my Jeep could see. The point was this "Shouldn't vehicles spot only when they have crew?". So when I select such vehicle, NO ENEMY UNITS should be highlighted, becase the vehicle has no crew that can do spotting. Maybe modern vehicles can have TV-cameras etc. that can do spotting without human help, but AFAIK those were not available when CMBN battles took place. When you select some unit on map, other units that this selected unit can see are highlighted. That's what happens when I select this Jeep. A tank that shouldn't be visible where my Jeep is, is highlighted. So 2 problems here: highlighting a unit that my selected Jeep cannot see AND even if it was visible it shouldn't be spotted by a vehicle without crew. -
Vehicle spots without crew
SlowMotion replied to SlowMotion's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
No, not only to the Jeep. But for example the Jeep could spot an enemy tank that really was beyond LOS. The Jeep crew near the Jeep couldn't spot the tank (which was correct IMO). And the tank couldn't spot the Jeep or its crew. -
While playing a CMBN 2.12 MG scenario I noticed something that looks like a bug to me. I had driven a Jeep to a place on map and then told the crew to leave the vehicle and continue on foot. While watching the turn movie I clicked the Jeep after crew had left it and become a separate unit (same turn though). When the Jeep was the selected unit I could see some enemy units that it could "see". Shouldn't vehicles spot only when they have crew?

My biggest problem when choosing QB units is I cannot remember weapons of different vehicles. Especially German armored cars & HTs. I'd like to see a list of just tanks or vehicles with type and weapon calibre. And with some vehicles I'm interested in how many passengers they can take and how big guns they can tow.

use edge of the map to attack
SlowMotion replied to Jorge MC's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
IMO there's less need to use map edges if the map is big enough that its full width cannot be covered by defense. If there is enough cover and map size is right so that there is room to manouvre, no need to use map edges.
