  1. From the posts on the CMBB board, they will be scenarios that are already available on Boots and Tracks and Der Kessel. When the CDV version of CMBO was released in Europe it also came with an additional disc containing mods and scenarios, but it looks like the additions for the US retail version will be different.
  2. The graphics in CMBB are a lot better than those in CMBO, but their are a lot of mods around that improve the graphics of CMBO. You can't use the mods in the demo, but you can take a look at the screenshots at Combat Mission HQ for instance. The are quite a few people here who played the old Talonsoft games, so you should feel at home here.
  3. To be fair to the ladders and Fionn, the 'rules' were never mandatory and are only used if both players agree. It was quite common, in my experience, for two players to play their first game with the rules and then dispense with them in subsequent games once they trusted their opponent more. I prefer scenarios for PBEMs though, atlhough I still occasionally play QBs if an opponent wants.
  4. The British armoured counter-attack at Tobruk. Guess what happens when A13s hit PZ-IIIs in the flank .
  5. His personal piper though, the guy was probably as nutty as his Lord or just had trouble finding a better job.
  6. In one of the other threads someone asked if there was any evidence that bagpipes were played in combat in WW2 rather than in victory parades and was met with a deafening silence, it would require different sound files for Scottish and English regiments too. I just hope they get the bird songs right this time.
  7. Bocage is limited to part of Normandy, which was probably one of the reasons that it never occurred in QBs in CMBO, even in Normandy the eastern part of the area consists more of open fields. Despite what most people think, the Mediterranean does have winters, although in North Africa they tend to be cold and wet rather than snowy. The occasional winter snowfall in North Africa probably doesn't justify its inclusion in that theatre, but Italy probably has more snow than NW Europe - the majority of the country consists of hills and mountains.
  8. I don't think BFC work at 6:31 am, unless they are still there from yesterday.
  9. Interesting that the 7th Armoured Div. site gives the armour thickness of the Rolls Royce as 9mm, whilst Pitt's Crucible of War gives it as 8mm. BFC need to get Rexford on the job .
  10. The game sounds interesting, but from the blurb provided by Jaws, it sounds more like an Operation Flashpoint style shooter than a wargame. No bad thing, but not really a competitor.
  11. Lili Marlene played on the pipes should be interesting.
  12. Well POS told us himself that he was the same person as VG et al, I think he was getting upset that BFC were taking so long to re-ban him. Did we ever find out who the RD ladder leader is though?
  13. Actually Lou, they were quite smart with the .pdf part of the manual, by itself it would be no use as it only contains the 'additional discussion' parts of the full manual, the bits that tell you how to play are in the printed part.
  14. If you got the CDV version, it's on the CD, if you got the BFC version the entire manual is printed, so you don't need the .pdf, which isn't the entire manual anyway.
  15. Swastikas aren't removed, they weren't in the original of CMBO or CMBB.
  16. I'm pretty sure the Free French, attached to the British 8th Army were infantry only. Leclerc's Saharan troops (based in Chad) were partly infantry, who used Chevrolet trucks with mounted MGs, and camel mounted cavalry such as the Méharistes, who were a tough bunch used to living off the land. 17. The CD copy protection is different between the two versions too, so you will probably end up with a version of the .exe that doesn't recognise the CDV CD.
  18. Maybe where you are, but I think a lot of people probably remember the Desert Rats just as well and they did see action in Sicily as well . Still plucky losers are always popular.
  19. Of course we all missed the big hint Steve gave us back in February in a thread about possible add-ons for CMBB
  20. Shame on you, you don't have the entire script memorised . 'You played it for her! You can play it for me! Play it Sam!'
  21. Just think of the fun we'll have arguing about whether it's Canea, Hania or Chania, Retimno, Rethymnon or Rethymno. I can see MadMatt rubbing his hands with glee and anticipation already.
  22. If we're going to have a 'sung' version, I'd prefer Vera Lynn. What an agent that woman must have had - starting World War II just to plug her new single. Put me down for one of the St. Trinian's Bren Carrier mods too.
  23. Yup, Lili Marlene as it was the favourite of both sides, not sure about the copyright though. Failing that, something by Verdi or Rossini, or Lilibolero, that must have been out of copyright even when Custer used it.
  24. Fine by me - December 1940, I'm the Brits, you're the Italians .
