  1. Sorry Pillar mate,I thought YOU were surrendering when you suggested ending that non-ladder training game and beginning a bigger Combined Arms job,so I'm waiting for YOUR surrender file!
  2. Nuku mate-I NEVER repeat NEVER use "seek hull-down" because its too unreliable. Instead,I use views 1 and 2 to get my eyeball down in the grass and mouse around, adjusting my "hunt" movement path lines as necessary, and it works just fine!
  3. Hey Tigrii mate!--Sorry I can't add anything to the HT discussion, but I just have to congratulate you on your topic title about "longwinded tacticians",well done! Sweet Jesus can't they talk and talk! War is SIMPLE,and just a matter of plain commonsense, there's no need for intense tactical study or anything else! I joined the Rugged Defense pbem club in early Feb and will shortly have finished 65 cmbb games in 10 weeks, all in my fast simple style and have somehow got to the top of the ladder without reading any longwinded tac articles at all! If I can do it anybody can!
  4. In a game against Maroule,I worked a group of about 7 T-34's into a dominating flank position on a ridgeline, but his invisible sniper took off the head of EVERY unbuttoned tank commander on successive turns! Even when I ordered them to stay buttoned, they would unbutton as soon as the action phase began, and CRACK!--off would come another head! I always buy snipers myself now...
  5. No tank in the world (not even Tigers) can stand up for long against infantry throwing plenty of grenades and molotovs etc at them. Each "hit" brings the "knocked out" or "abandoned" message a little closer. Problem of course is getting your inf within throwing range,as they'd obviously be cut down by tank fire and supporting inf fire if they had to cover too far a distance,so do the next best thing and let the tanks come to you! Try to strip the enemy's supporting inf away from his tanks with longrange bombardments and MG and on-map mortar fire (or even barbed wire and anti-personnel mines,so that his tanks have to come on unsupported to capture the flags. That's when your lurking inf can break out the grenades and molotovs close up!
  6. I NEVER,repeat NEVER use the Hulldown command because you can't trust it. Instead, get your eyeball down in the grass at view level 1 and 2 and use your judgement!
  7. Gentlemen! Check out my earlier topic and my replies in it entitled "Ladder top spot up for grabs!" to satiate your burning curiosity about my true identity! Also check out the Rugged Defense site and click on POS's name at the top o' the ladder to see a pic of me in all my glory! (BTW-that's also the pic which I send to women in dating agencies, but have had no luck so far,I must be one ugly sonofabitch,I dunno. I even tell 'em I'd shave my moustache off if it tickled 'em too much..)
  8. Hey amigo, Bravo! 1.8.2 canones anticarro,ATG en una emboscada! That's the way to do it mate!
  9. Observation--In 65 pbem games over the last 9 weeks, mostly Aug 42,in which I've played roughly half as German and half as Russian,(usually PzIVG early-longs v T-34/76 mod 43 earlies) the Russian long-range gunnery is always slightly inferior.
  10. To my fans who suggest I see a shrink,I was sent to one by my solicitor last year in connection with an impending court case against me,and was pronounced SANE,and have got his report to prove it!--"Mr. Godwin is an unconventional strong-willed man which would explain the present difficulties he finds himself in blah blah.." Its not fair! I don't want to be sane and normal,I'd be bored! (BTW-One of the questions he asked me was "do you masturbate?..) [ April 05, 2003, 09:08 PM: Message edited by: Poor Old Spike ]

  12. As I've been mentioning elsewhere,I'm retiring from Rugged Defense shortly as soon as my current games are finished,to pursue other projects. So here's a golden opportunity for those who've pointed out my 65% win ratio is nothing special. After all if a crap player like me can become a Cmbb Ladder Leader,ANYBODY can do it! Simply drop an e-m to RD boss Ed Vos at cyberfox@rugged-defense.nl and you're IN, no complicated membership ritual to go through like in BoB,and you'll be on the ladder as soon as you complete 3 games, wow, not 10 like in BoB ! "I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips, straining upon the start..!" (Henry V) Go for it ! [ April 05, 2003, 09:06 PM: Message edited by: Poor Old Spike ]
  13. Gentlemen!--As Broken and other dudes have pointed out,my win percentage in Rugged Defence is only 65% ! This means that ANYBODY who is a crap player like me can get to the top of the ladder! So what are you waiting for,go for immortality! Just drop an e-m to RD boss Edwin Vos at cyberfox@rugged-defense.nl and you're IN without any lengthy membership procedures of any kind to go through ! And you get on the ladder after completing just 3 games, wow, not 10 like in Bob! When I retire from RD shortly the top spot will be wide open,so here's your chance to win the crown of glory! ("I torment myself to catch the English crown,a torment from which I will free myself,or hew my way out with the bloody axe!" 14. Broken mate, haven't you cottoned on that I only do it to wind up the kids in the forum, its almost as much fun as playing cmbb to see 'em getting all hot and bothered! I've been doing it for ages in here under different names such as Veteran Gamer,Scatterbrain Kid,Licensed Fool,Combat Cuckoo,Headshot,Gutshot and Blikdat, and got banned all 7 times, with the 8th on the cards! The way I see it,the more times somebody is banned, the more of a man he is ! I just LURV taunting the kiddies by reminding 'em that I'm the Rugged Defense Cmbb Ladder Leader! As I say,I could be banned again anytime, but rest assured I'll always be strutting my stuff on forums and message boards elsewhere!
  15. I'm talking about the characters who squawk "Gamey!" at you, usually when the games not going their way,or when you've just beat 'em! They constantly complain like little gels that "you un-historically took too many guns/Hetzers/panzerschrecks etc" or "your tactics are unrealistic and you'd be court-martialled in the real world" or " you gamily hugged the map-edge" blah-blah-blah! These whingers are a pain in the ass for us all,so just don't play 'em again, and they'll soon get the message when everybody avoids 'em! Personally I just let my opponents use whatever tactics and play style they like,I couldn't care less what they do,and would never complain once a game is under way. And I'm still Rugged Defense Cmbb Ladder Leader! Even I get called gamey sometimes by sour-grapes losers, and I'm one of the most fair and popular guys around,as proven by the 65-odd games I've had in Rugged Defence over the last 8 weeks!
