  1. What do you mean in how does that help by getting a larger hard drive? Haven't you been paying attention? No seriously, after reading your last post I thought, what is he talking about so went back and reread the posts and see that you and Schrullenhaft are talking about hard drive speed not how large it is. Well, my hard drive will be 7200 RPM instead of my current 5200 RPM so that I assume is what you are meaning? To be quite honest Redwolf that other stuff you said went so far over my head it's not funny. I mean it's like a foreign language to me but I appreciate you trying never the less. And just so you know that I'm not just another pretty face I know that a faster CPU wouldn't help lockups, would it?
  2. Enjoyable post Michael I enjoyed it and thanks for the laugh. Some of you guys kill me.
  3. Thanks again Schrullenhaft that may be some of my problem and I was or should say am going to get a larger hard drive very very soon anyway so that may solve my problem. If nothing else it'll be interesting to see if it does. Thanks again for the help. I appreciate it and guys like you taking the time to answer what must seem to you to be a stupid question but hey to us stupid people it's serious. Thanks guy.
  4. I didn't know that but then again there's lots of things I don't know. Thanks for the reply then.
  5. Thanks guys for your comments and time. So I guess I'm just being a cry baby but it sure seemed longer then the other CM games which I'm comparing CMAK to. Just thought I'd ask. Again, thanks for the help.
  6. Any body know why it takes so long for the 3-D graphics to load on my computer? I have no problems with the the maps or movements or anything but even when I just load a tiny scenario it takes about 10 - 15 seconds to load up. The other games never took that long and I was wondering what part of my computer is causing it. I have a 850 processer, 382 Ram and a 64 video card. Would you think it's the processor which I assume is the weakest part of my computer? I would appreciate any comments or suggestions. I hope I gave you enough info?
  7. Were you aware that if you place two large building back to back that a unit entering one through the front cannot exit through the back wall into the next building? I discovered this in a scenario called Monte Cassino at the The Proving Grounds and later tested it out to make sure it wasn't something the designer made happen. It wasn't as he later stated and was unaware of it too. Anyway, thought I'd mention it as it could throw a money wrench into a scenario where you were needed to be able to. For what it's worth.
  8. Then it's at the Proving Grounds Mamluke256? then I'm on it. I've played 3 scenario's from The Proving Grounds this weekend so far and hopefully will get to yours tomorrow but I'll go take a look at it tonight before turning in to see what it looks like. And yes if you want a scenario played and some feed back the Proving Grounds is the place to take them. All us guys over there try to provide good feedback to designers in an effort to insure the game is ready for the Scenario Depot. [ January 03, 2004, 11:30 PM: Message edited by: lcm1947 ]
  9. Happy New Year back to you. Thanks for the link to your site. Interesting reading by Poor Old Spike. Course if he tried that crap with me I'd tan his hide for him.
  10. Korea would be my second hope after the Pacific threater that is, but I hope not another Europe, at least until we get something a little different.
  11. I think it would be pretty cool too. I first thought no, but the more I think about it the more I would like to see it. Just think of all the new stuff we would get to use and see. Anyway, not that it matters but put me now for wanting the Pacific Threater too.
  12. That sounds great but being somewhat ignorant about that kind of stuff I shall wait until all the bugs, if any, are out, but sure sounds great and thanks for this neat sounding tool. Please do let us know if you would when you think it's solid. Thanks again.
  13. No Viet Nam was a Counter Insurgencey and Korea was a Police Action. Had they been a war we would have won both. Our hearts weren't into either and it showed.
  14. Very nice Andrew. Outstanding detail as usual but then again what else would we expect from you. Thanks once again. You do so much make the game so realistic looking.
  15. I can't give you any advise as I don't know much about computers but thought I'd tell you what I have and how the game performs for me. I have a 850 Mhz processor with a 64 MB video card and 384 MB of Ram. I have no trouble with anything but the larger games like "All is Fair" which is 4100 points. This game is playable but not much fun as it is somewhat jerky and slow. Now if I play "2 Pounders and Tigers" which is listed as 3600 points everything is fine. No jerking and the speed is just fine. Hope this helps you? Oh as a point of interest. I recently changed from a 32 MB video card to this 64 MB before CMAK came out back when I was playing CMBB and noticed very little if any difference. I was actually very disappointed after spending the money so I think the processor is what counts, but that's my unlearned opinion and may not be accurate. Anyway, good luck and I can relate about the money thing. Not being rich sucks, don't it?
  16. Boy I hate it when people make me eat my words. And so so soon after saying them. Outstanding gentlemen. Simply outstanding!
  17. Hey, now I didn't mean that I wouldn't ever want any 3rd party mods. I'm not nuts. I was just wanting to express to BFC what a great job they did this time around on the graphics. No doubt our bunch of modders we have around here can and will improve the game with their superb mods and make it even more realistic and eye pleasing. And gautrek that mod is very sharp. I should have known you of all people couldn't wait to start whipping them out. Oh and what the hell does WIP mean? I've seen it a million times and should know but I don't. So what does it mean?
  18. I am blown away with the extremely realistic and good looking graphic's in this game and just had to mention it. BFC has done an excellent job this time where I don't know if I'll need any 3rd party mods. The detail of the vehicles far surpasses the previous games and looks as good as the 3rd party mods. Did you notice the silver bar on the back of the HQ units helmets? Those small details is what has always made it for me. Man, good job guys. Course in 6 months I'll probably be crying for new mods but it sure won't be because of the quality of these. Thanks again BFC.
  19. Sorry but I like the smaller print myself but if it causes trouble to others then I would be just as happy the old way, but I do like the info at the bottom. I thought it a neat idea. I agree though that if the larger print is what caused you to have to scroll sideways to read the posts then the smaller print is best. I hated that scrolling sideways thing and it actually kept me from reading a lot of longer topics for that very reason.
  20. I'm in Texas and got mine today, well actually yesterday. Happy days are here again. This beats the Russian Front as far as I'm concerned. Course I'm an American so guess that kinda explains my feelings. Anyway, looks like fun to me and thanks BFC!
  21. Yes it is good to have the Americans back in the fighting. Something I can get my teeth into, so to speak. I personally am a very happy person again. And yes thanks BFC!
  22. And here I was all bummed out about having to wait several weeks. Great news! You guys are tops!
  23. Outstanding Andrew. Excellent job again. Thanks. Pants wetting? I thought you had to be my age before that started?
  24. Hot Damm! Now this should be interesting. Really looking forward to this one. Thanks once again Guys for making the old heart beat fast and the excitment and joy that that comes with it. I can hardly wait to see what it's like. Here we go again. You wouldn't think a grown man could get so excited after 56 years.
