I would like to thank all for the suggestions and information. It has helped me a lot in deciding although I've not quite there yet. Special thanks to Kohlenklau for pointing out that there are those demo's I could check out and I did check them out this morning. It's a shame that CW doesn't have one but oh well. Well, gents I greatly appreciate all the helpful suggestions. Really helped me understand more about what the different games were and that helped lots. So, I will at this point try those Demo's like Kohlenklau pointed out. I was totally unaware of them so that will surly point me in the right direction so thank you yet again Kohlenklau for your help. Those German smocks showing up in my games are awsome! I too would love to see a China and Russia versus the USA and Israel for example.

If we where to get things like current day Iran Vs Western, Current day Korea or current day China Vs Western then the fully modern stuff might very well become my favorit games... I too would love to do current day equip like of China and Russia on one side and the USA and Israel on the other.

Oh no you guys have made it even harder to decide. Just kidding thanks for the replies. It is actually a tough call and I'll have to dwell on it but at least I have a better understanding of all the games than I had thanks to you. I hope to get more replies before I bite the bullet but right this second, I'm thinking about going with CBFB. I am anxious to see what and how the two counties improved their equipment especially in regard to their armor. Feel free to express your opinions and thoughts and regardless of what I decide rest assured I will be here playing one of these truly magnificent realistic games. Pretty exciting just even contemplating which to go with.

First I must tell you I will probably stick with the modules of CBNB because to me WWII was the great one not WWI but could be convinced because lord knows I would like to pit modern US forces against a modern enemy. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated,

Well, I just minutes ago saw this last post of yours so went into the game and changed it to show " Mix ' like you spoke about and sure enough I see the smocks now. A couple of posts ago when you mentioned " mix " I thought you were referring to the " mix" you can select for the different units like mix of Armor and infantry when picking what units will participate in the game not what you were referring to when you said appearance mix. WOW! what a good feeling to have uniform choices in the game!!!! You Da Man Kohlenklau. A million thanks!

Oh Ok, I see what you mean about the smocks necessarily show up on all the infantry troops. I did not know that. Boy, this game is very detailed and realistic! Neat! I only have the base game of Normandy Beach so like you said that could be the reason I can't see them. I do know how to adjust the units appearances and I always in my quick battles which I almost 90% play use Mix. I will start playing more scenarios by chance so I may see different uniforms. Hope so. Also, I will be buying more modules in the future as money permits so I may finally see them appear one day. Anyway, I certainly appreciate your efforts Kohlenklau. You've been a big help, Thank you.

Kohlenklau, Sorry for the confusion but when I place that particular smock mod into my Z folder I only see the same gray german uniforms that game came with or should say had originally in the game. Now when I place a vehicle mod in that z folder the appearance of that particular vehicle is changed to the new mod folder. Hope that maybe better explains it. Plus I completely deleted the game and installed everything again to my computer and the exact same thing is happening about the vehicle, terrain and misc, mods appearing but none of the uniforms do regardless of the several difference uniform mods I install in the z folder. Now let me clear this up for myself in this sentence " A uniform mod only is seen when that uniform it is modding is normally on screen. Make sense? ", I am assuming you are telling me that a uniform is only seen if that particular uniform mod is supposed to be worn? Now that confuses me somewhat so let me try saying this to be clear. Using any of the uniform mods pertaining only to CMBN cause that is the only game I have that any uniform that is considered a CMBN uniform should always appear if I install it in the " Z " folder? I mean it overrides any game original skin so my question is how would it not be seen if installed? I am talking about German infantry be it any type of the several infantry names there are like Fusilier or Pioneer or Grenadier. That smock should appear on all of them - period?

That is too strange. WOW! I don't believe it. I believe you but don't believe that that is possible that I can't. I don't even know what to do next. I mean if it wasn't for me being able to install vehicles, terrain and Misc. mods I would think I was doing something wrong, but I installed dozens of those, and they work. Good try Kohlenklau but I can't open it. I downloaded it but it says the file is empty. Would you try installing the mod we are talking about and seeing if it works for you?

Could some kind soul try installing this mode and tell me if they can do it?

Erwin. Yes I do. I have no problem using vehicle and Misc. mods and have plenty of them dressing up my game but uniforms for whatever reason flat out won't work for me. Surly it's not my computer but why can I install vehicles, terrain and Misc BMP's but not uniforms. Very strange indeed.

Erwin, this is what my folder tree looks like; This PC > Data (F;) > combat mission battle for Normandy > Data > Z > The files I am trying to use are actually zipped files as many of the uniform BMP files are in the CM warehouse. I gave up on even trying to figure out how to work with RezExplode and or Rezpack files but there are so many of the zipped files at least for CMBN still available I can live with just them. As I mentioned I have no problem unzipping and being able to use all the vehicle and misc. mods it's just for whatever reason the zipped uniform BMP's that do not work and that is strange. Redwolf, the particular BMP file that I am using as my example here is the German_Smocks mod in the CMBN Menu Mod By Mord (thefewgoodmen.com) and here is folder you asked I provide. smod_german_helmet-soldier 2.bmp smod_german_helmet-soldier.bmp

I am still not able to use uniform skins or I suppose they are called BMP files? Anyway, I tried the following skins; after extracting the downloaded mod I got a folder named German_Smocks opening this I get Damian's German Smocks. Inside that folder I see 6 skins labeled as smod_german_helmet-soldier2, smod_german_helmet-soldier, smod_ german_smock_soldier_uniform, smod_german_smock_soldier_uniform2, smod_german_smock_soldier_uniform3, smod_german_smock_soldier_uniform4. I placed the folder named German Smocks into the following: This PC > Data (F;) > combat mission battle for Normandy > Data > Z > Any idea what is wrong?

I cannot for the life of me get uniform mods to work be it German or American. I have changed most of my vehicles, several terrain mods and several Misc. mods and they work fine but out of about 15 uniforms I haven't found any that work. I can't imagine them being any different than installing the others so there is something wrong or something I'm not aware of. Any help would be appreciated as I thoroughly enjoy using them especially uniforms and it sucks that I can't. Thanks

Ahh, that may be my problem. I was getting them from the " CM Mod warehouse ". Thank you for the reply I will try that site.

I have been trying to deck my recently purchased CMBN up with mods I like but can't seem to be able 90% of the time. Am I doing something wrong or are the mods so old or outdated they no longer work. Any help or comments would be appreciated.

Thanks so much for that info SlowMotion. I appreciate you taking the time to help me decide. Based your your post I will go ahead and buy CMBN. Hadn't thought about the Italians and their lack or quality of equipment. Good point and one that is important to me. Thanks again.
