  1. Colonel: Marine, what is that button on your body armor? Private Joker: A peace symbol, sir. Colonel: Where'd you get it? Private Joker: I don't remember, sir. Colonel: What is that you've got written on your helmet? Private Joker: "Born to Kill", sir. Colonel: You write "Born to Kill" on your helmet and you wear a peace button. What's that supposed to be, some kind of sick joke? Private Joker: No, sir. Colonel: You'd better get your head and your ass wired together, or I will take a giant s**t on you. Private Joker: Yes, sir. Colonel: Now answer my question or you'll be standing tall before the man. Private Joker: I think I was trying to suggest something about the duality of man, sir. Colonel: The what!? Private Joker: The duality of man. The Jungian thing, sir. Colonel: Whose side are you on, son? Private Joker: Our side, sir. Colonel: Don't you love your country? Private Joker: Yes, sir. Colonel: Then how about getting with the program? Why don't you jump on the team and come on in for the big win? Private Joker: Yes, sir. Colonel: Son, all I've ever asked of my [troops] is that they obey my orders as they would the word of God. We are here to help the [French], because inside every [Frenchman] there is an American trying to get out. It's a hardball world, son. We've gotta keep our heads until this peace craze blows over. Private Joker: Aye-aye, sir.
  2. And simulate/represent/abstract 1 single day of Normandy fighting instead of the 3+ months searching for real Calvados and Camembert cheese?!!
  3. And have we done some tests ..... I spend the better part of 3,5 days accumulating observation data on specific issue ( Sherman vs PzIV' first-hit %'s at various ranges) given an issue Steve mentioned after Bil Hardenberger's AAR. Many, many hours were spend by beta testers looking/ comparing certain issues with Charles' programming results. Nothing is obviously the last word, but nothing also will be changed by BFC just because somebody voiced an opinion and based it solely.... on an opinion. "This feels wrong" = only the starting point of the experiment. You better show us some empirical tests by running 'some' samples, compared against, at a minimum, some referenced historical result/data.
  4. Beta testers are looking (again) at this issue - it has been tweaked before by Charles in earlier betas if memory serves - and they will decide what to do about it, hopefully by patch time, depending on other issues and their ranking on the ToDo patch list. In short, BFC is aware of this.
  5. Read my post earlier. That IS the official answer from BFC. Which means, roughly around the Battle of the Bulge family for Armor Arcs. Obviously, BFC did not promise it will be in, but they will then have a re-look at this aspect, together with the UI re-design to accommodate this possible feature, as it needs to tie in properly with the TacAi elements + lotsa testing thereof.
  6. I vote you all chip in for a PayPal $+, hire an extra programmer after collecting enough monies for his salary, and then present the programmer to BFC. Fait accompli! My PayPal email address is in the profile.
  7. AFAIK, they are working on it. EDIT: And I did not read akd's post prior. Serves me right for reading it on a HalleBerry screen.
  8. They never do, as they are not a public listed company and it's nobody else's business, quite frankly. However, Steve will probably give some very general comments how CMBN fared compared to other BFC releases. Since Battlefront know their market relatively well, I doubt they will be surprised, unpleasantly so. Of course we are all interested in Battlefront's financial well-being. They serve our hobby, and they serve it well.
  9. Remind me Mr bbaker, when RoW VI comes around - loose lips sink download speeds.
  10. Some beta testers are (again) looking at this specific issue, as it was tweaked to some degree by Charles a few Betas back, given what we have spotted and reported then, originally. The re-look at the issue could be before release, or after thereof (during patch time).
  11. I guess then you dislike Mr Peng & Mr Spkr excessively? Aren't these 2 the Cesspool's beacon of light, hence their elevated status among the 'Pool's murky inhabitants wrt new BFC releases?
  12. Armor Arc: Chances are this feature will possibly be included for the "next major release" when, at that time, BFC will also have a re-look at their proposed new UI for the game due to the dramatic impact of armor arcs on TacAI behavior. "Not until then" is the official word.
  13. Isn't it quite cool that BFC offers both Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake. Ask Mr Peng. He went AWOL, prolly due to his own CAS using the "C" too literally. Several times. In Mr Peng's immortal words... Cant reason with that.
  14. Each to his own. The reason I find it better then using the relative keys: I'm right handed. I kick left, as certain opponents can attest. I use my mouse, obviously, on the right side of my computer. On the right side of my laptop is my keypad numbers. I love playing CMBN with both hands (**cough**, this just doesn't sound right ....). Therefor, I don't want to release my mouse hand to press a relative key, and then move it back to the rodent again. Why? My left hands does buggerall. So I 'wired' my brain to learn to use my left hand, which is hovering close to the SPACEBAR anyway. Plus I hate to click/press an extra click/button and change the relative command groups to go into that specific group of commands, as I cannot be bothered to memorize yet another set of shortcut keyboard keys. Plus using Spacebar will minimize for sure the mistake of pressing the bail key while inside the wrong command group. Easy to occur once you start fiddling with different unit commands inside various command groups. Thus, reasons to my madness. Heh, you did press the wrong button, carelessly, of course, not deliberately. AFAIK the AI does not press buttons on your behalf Anyway, seeing that posters here offered solution(s) to this minor annoyance, all is good I gather.
  15. Well, if I accidentally shoot you, reloading my gun will not bring you back to life. As said, get into the habit of using the SPACEBAR if you are that concerned about accidentally pressing the wrong key. It's easier using spacebar then fiddling with the remap button txt files. To be honest, it took my brain 2 days to move away from using the 'automatic' relative command button keys while testing CMBN. Now I never use the relative command keys. And I never see my crew accidentally bail. Regards, Charl Theron
  16. Order the crew back (by deleting their order path) into their vehicle, if it's not knocked out, and there are enough crew left to command the Sherman. You might have accidentally used the "bail" command. Tank crews can bail and re-crew their own tanks. Not so with AT gun crews. Or, your crew, though the tank is still working, are panicked (=loss of control over the crew) and they bailed automatically in this state, due to (multiple) penetrations that have not yet knocked their tank out. Better solution then mentioned by womble above: Use/press the spacebar to issue commands to your units. Personally, I find this the best method to give orders in CMBN.
  17. Indeed. Time was spend on a myriad other small things. This may, or may not, change for future games, depending on various factors.
  18. Some valid points Mattias, I sure would love to have a Hunt command for AFV's only and Armour arc's for AT guns. I can only guess why this was not included by BFC: Lack of programming time given other issues , difficulty, lower on priority list etc. Only Steve can tell us if these features were ever contemplated for CMBN and then left out for whatever reason, and/or if they might, knowing the caveats we're not aware of, be included in future releases. Steve, care to enlighten, if you have time? If I missed his answer, apologies in advance.
  19. My on-board and off-board mortars, more often then not, are quite accurate.
  20. AFAIK, since you did not indicate your interest in the tournament, it's moot.
