  1. Gents, the Demo will be released when Charles/Steve is 100% satisfied. At this moment, I think its safe to say that they are not, nor are some of our beta testers, as were testing the final candidate. Yes, we have moved from beta over to final candidate, but it could take 1 day, or many more for the candidate to be ... final. Right now, if you gents want to have a demo now, we testers should not report any issues with the current version at all. Cause if the Demo = OK, the full release = OK'ed. If we don't report ANY issues, you guys get the Demo for sure, but we testers will get that hollow, empty stomach feeling of not giving respect to Charles, Steve, Moon, Dan et al for all their years of sweat, toil and countless beers/coffee and hard work.
  2. A bone? You can, with CMBN, use any grass mod.

  4. Heh, soft they were. Poor marsh mellows. Ignorance for the Brit tankers were bliss, up to a point, yes?
  5. Now that's a voice of reason and common sense, which isn't always as common as you would like to believe.
  6. This refers to the Peng thread. You can only be daft inside an asylum.
  7. boresite/~Viajero, So noted your desire. You will go on the Official "waiting" list. The signup for the tournament (usually) works as follows: The signup thread/post will be initiated by me, as usual with the immortal worlds of Wild Bill Wilder: "The guns are rumbling...the war is on" (Rumblings of War Tourney VI: SignUp)
  8. Worthy of a sigline & a good riposte to some coming here being "not so clear in their thinking" ... I'll toast that.
  9. It can be safely said you got a 'few' more players into the CM fold that were ... undecided.
  10. Heh, I believe that some say Jesus will never come too. Alas, hope springs eternal. Would certainly want to be involved with your next meta campaign in the works Bil. Even as a lowly platoon commander.
  11. Well, 50% of the matter is this: If, given current CMx2 data and they way the program relates to these unit data, and give Hunter's CMC approach NOW in creating an operational overly, would it NOW work, or is CMBN data sets STILL not capable of sharing it in any meaningful way with a 2nd program, even with a rewrite of same basic .exe program between the two, as was done between CMBB/CMC?
  12. Well, if somebody can lobby the programmer(s?) at Panther/Matrix Games' Command Operations: Battles from the Bulge (CO:BFTB, rated as one of the best Operational wargames on the PC - see product page at http://www.matrixgames.com/products/377/details/Command.Ops:.Battles.from.the.Bulge. ) to try and approach Battlefront a-la-CMC style with a business plan... who knows. Ahemmmmm.... Maybe Bil Hardenberger can broker such a deal/approach between BFC & Panther games to co-operate to make some very basic changes to both games so that CMBN can work (data wise) and they share in the profits of such an programming endavour? Bil aready stated that to some degree CO:BFB & CMBN might be a very good marrying of concepts given their focus on Normandy/Bulge. The former comes with extensive scenario/mapmaker/unit builder abilities to cover to make operational maps. Leave it then to the community to build those operation/tactical maps with BFTB/CMBN respectively, as long as their unit data can be shared in some basic way. Having some API format that exchanges the data sets between programs might be looked at in the future? But there must be a meeting of minds first between the companies, otherwise it will stay a pipe dream for another decade+ If not, at least some 3rd party hacks can try their hand at marrying the 2 sets of data to some degree to give tactical orders to CMBN PBEM. I would certainly buy such a game/concept, even at $100+. Maybe we wishing for such an idea are completely in the minority and not even worth the financial trouble to make it work commercially? Everything starts with a dream. Bringing 2 companies together and making a 3rd work it out, or themselves in a limited data capacity, knowing the pitfalls of CMC... who knows?
  13. Welcome back Juha. As a multiple Vet of Rumblings of War, you will get invited to RoW VI for sure. Just make sure I can access your Battlefront.com forum email address to send invites out when the time draws near. Regards.
  14. Aye, confirmed. CMBN was rock solid many betas ago. The last dash to the line has started: It's an utter privilege to be part of such a dedicated and open-minded group of gentlemen. A phenomenal group of individuals and I'm honoured to be among those lucky few that Battlefront trusted to work with their flagship. I wish the greatest financial success to Battlefront.com. May you make such a success out of CMBN that it continues to be the vanguard of wargaming. We, the rearguard following, can only marvel at your passion, dedication and grit to our hobby. A luta continua: Let the wargaming ®evolution, started by BTS/BFC so many years ago, continue. Respect.
  15. Steve, Do you and Charles envision, in future, you might partner with a strategic layer company, whether IN the Battlefront.com fold or not, to try the "CMC route" again if such a company comes with an idea/programming resources that would seem workable, given CMC's pitfalls? Or is the data layer that CMx2 produce not at all easy adaptable to export it to a higher level strategic game, apart from other reconfiguring programming issues?
  16. Good. Some to volunteer already their evil genius for specially created scenarios for ROW.
  17. Gents, enough. Whether true or not, I'm not interested. This is not the correct forum to discuss Franco's policies, as misguided as they were. "Shoot me, for they do not know what they have done." I started it, I'll take the rap Moon, despite the repeated words "Combat Mission" here to bring it either to conclusion, or different direction. Can anyone wanting to discuss their version of history, real or imagined, please take this up in the General forum. I should have known better even to refer to soccer in passing. Imagine underwater hockey!
  18. There are those rules in specific forums. While I understand that for some soccer is religion/politics, I just tried to explain why my testing schedule for CMBN went haywire. So, again, two words that impressed me today: Combat Mission (and the new Beta executable)
