Here is What I Dont Understand about BF?
Commanderski replied to weapon2010's topic in Combat Mission - General Discussion
No game or marketing concept is ever perfect. There will always be people who love the game and the way the company handles it and there will always be people who complain about the game and the company whether they buy anything or not. Personally I like the way BF is doing things. -
I recently bought CMRT, CMFB, and CMBN and bought the bundle for CMFI. As detailed as your are making these games the nationalities that participated in various theaters should be included. Their participation definitely influenced the battles they participated in sometimes positively and sometimes negatively. The inclusion of the new nationalities didn't affect my decision to buy or not to buy but now that you are doing that other nationalities should be included in any forthcoming games/modules. For example the next installment for CMRT (Fire and Rubble) should include the Hungarians and Romanians along with the Germans and the Poles should be included with the Soviets as the First and Second Polish armies were formed in the Soviet Union and fought along with the Soviets.

I think that you are referring to when many years ago "back in the day" when they used to give away the new modules. That was when it was just Combat Mission before CMBB. They don't charge for patches, just for the new modules. They can't really afford to give away new modules anymore as they do take time to program and with all the games out there now some players naturally gravitate to different games and some like me come back after being gone for a while. The amount of posts is not an indication of sales or how popular the game is. It's usually means that there are no problems with the game and no one is complaining. Only a small percentage of people generally post, in some sites you would think the game is dead but there are actually quite a few people playing. As far as deadlines go it's better to have some people complaining about how late it is than to have everybody complaining on a poor product that came out on time. -
Any tips for a new player?

Also if it seems that you made a mistake in your planning don't give up. Just stop for a moment and see if you can regroup and still achieve your objective. In one battle in Red Thunder I lost about half my troops and most of my medium tanks. But then stopped, let loose with artillery and smoke and took the objective. -
Problems installing the game
Commanderski replied to Commanderski's topic in Combat Mission Final Blitzkrieg
I submitted a ticket and they said to use another program to unzip my files and they recommended Bandizip. That worked great -
I just purchased this and the entire Battle For Normandy pack and I'm getting errors that some files are missing. I had no trouble with Red Thunder. Any ideas on what to do?

Megalon Jones Youtube DARs & AARs
Commanderski replied to Megalon Jones's topic in Combat Mission Final Blitzkrieg
I think some people actually have, they are quite a dedicated bunch. The game is also insanely detailed down to every ship of any kind that ever floated in the Pacific from every nation and every pilot by name for the US. -

In War in the Pacific Admiral's edition you can play the game day by actual day so it will take you at least 4 years to complete a campaign. -

The most important thing to remember is to have fun! -
I know that mods go into the "Z" folder but will they work if there is a subfolder in the Z folder? Like if I put in a Finnish mod and the it would be in Z/Finn Gear would that show up in the scenario? Thanks.

Is there any update on this? Is this still being worked on or will it be after the Rome To Victory is released?
-
I noticed for some scenarios you can see the enemy icons at setup even though you have no line of sight to that area. Is this an anomaly for some or is there a setting to get rid of those without turning off all icons?

Hello to you too I wonder how many WITE and WITE 2.0 people are also CMRT players. -
CMx2 WWII? Scenarios & Quick Battles?

I agree... I recently retired and am getting back into this. I also like War in the East but these games offer something different on a much smaller scale. I'm glad to see that there is still lot's of user created scenarios and campaigns and hope that people still create them. Lot's to learn in both games. Beats anything on TV or the movies these days. -
Another contentious topic: CMx2 vs Mius?
Commanderski replied to markshot's topic in Combat Mission - General Discussion
I'm just getting back into these type of games and looked at both Graviteam and CMRT. I chose CMRT due to the WEGO system. It's much easier to plan your attack and to make adjustments. Graviteam reminds me of what Theater of War Kursk and Theater of War Korea were. They were both great games and I wish that the Battlefront team would have went that way with the graphics but you probably run into issues with older computers. Plus when playing Real Time games you can't take the time to watch one area that interests you. You have to look over the whole battlefield and may miss some cool action that you can't look at again as you can in the WEGO replay system. The current Combat Mission series can be played on relatively older computers and don't need the high end graphics cards or systems. I also played the original Combat Mission when it first came out and a lot of things are still basically the same and it's relatively easy to pick up again. -
I just downloaded version 4.0 of Red Thunder and want to apply the new patch but want to make sure I really need to do that. The downloaded version of the game is V2.02 game engine 4.0. Do I need to install the patch or is that update included in the version of the game I just downloaded. If I need to do install the patch how do I do that?
-
Are the quality of the graphics better with the game engine 4.0 or are about the same with the demo. Considering buying Red Thunder and have the demo which ahs teh game engine 3.0 and wondering if the quality would be better under the 4.0 engine. Also is there a good video on the basic movements, not strategy or anything but basically how to move the units without them running all over the place. It's been many years since i played any game like this.

I also just recently upgraded to a game computer. The Theatre of War series is great!

The fix in Tech support works! Playtime...:-)
-
I did find the fix on the the support area that some people used and will try that later today. Also I found that for some reason the Map Editor works but the others don't. The Map Editor in TOW 1 is very easy to use. I wish they would have done the same for TOW 2
