This is not how the utility of tanks is determined.  Like saying Sherman 75s were outdated and useless in 1944.

Izium axis, Stugna-P crew hit 4 targets for 3 minutes like on the firing range. Russan spotting capabilities = 0. though, it seemed to me one BMP (?) made several shots "somewhere"
It's noteworhy, the operator commands in pure Russian language
PS. Flight time is about 11 second - the range to the targets is about 2200 m

    A few thoughts
    - the Russian forces are used to having quantity as the determining factor, as quantity has a quality all of its own. They used this method in WWII and in almost every other war they have fought (e.g. Georgia, Afghan). Once they could not afford to field an army in the millions, the doctrine of weight lost its ability to fight a near peer.
    - the Russians do have the ability to adapt, but it takes years as the system is resistant to change and there has to be some big setbacks to force change (all militaries tend to be change resistant but this goes above and beyond as corruption is the lifeblood of this leadership,  changing the system takes away big money). It took a few years in Afghan but at a tactical level is did become more proficient against a disorganized and fractured foe - air-mobile troops funneling jihadis into kill zones. They were still crap but they became  better than their opponent. Not a chance here as both time and the proficiency of the UA is working against them.
    - The Soviet/Russian system is plan oriented and not goal oriented (Look at Egypt in the Arab-Israeli wars).  You work towards the written plan, not the goal. But this is the better choice in a system with top down leadership. Authoritarian systems cannot allow a flexible structure as it may lead to an independent officer corp which creates greater problems.
    - as with an independent officer corp, you also cannot allow your citizens to see the dynamism in a flexible near state. Russia cannot allow an independent Ukraine, China cannot allow a democratic Taiwan nor a democratic North Korea.
    - How does a country with GDP smaller than Canada cause so much trouble? I can only imagine the power Russia would have had if it would have turned its focus onto enhancing its own society. A successful Russia with 4 x the GDP (just to be on par with Canada let alone the USA) would have actually created a counter-point to America and could have joined/directed the EU as Germany does today. It could have had respect, power, a rich and stable society. But perhaps it is better to reign in hell than to serve in heavan.

Unfortunately this is likely to be a morale-booster for the Russian troops at the front.

Agree. One thing to remember is that even if the Russians want peace, the Ukranians do not have to accept it. They may be able to take the Donbass, but would they be able to defend against a fully mobilized and western supported Ukraine three months down the line? No way. Thats why he needs to either get a negotiated exit (not happening, because I doubt the Ukranians are going to give an inch of their pre-Febraury territory) or push for victory, either by destroying the Ukranian army, or by overruning enough Ukranian territory thats its economy its no longer functional. These are more reasons why the "propaganda" victory is not enough for them.

He is refering to ukranian heavy equipment in Mariupol, not in general. Considering that they have been forced to the interior of the Azovstal factory, one could imagine that all heavy equipment would have been either destroyed or abandoned beforehand.

I am an expert on military operations and this war makes very little sense in both purpose and execution.

Alas, this is not quite. Significant part of Ukrianian generation of "millenials" and younger are indeifferrent, apolitic and even cosmopolitan. Instagram images of сarefree bright life, life like entertainment or in best case,  trend struggle "save coalas" or something like this, IT or blogger career and "get away sometime from this country" - this typical ideas of many young people today in Ukraine. Despite of 8 years of war, many of them consider that Russian business, society and culture give more opportunities, more respectable etc. For example, many pupils and even more senior listen dirty Russian rap, propaganding violence, anti-social behavior and "criminal romantic". So, this part of young people, which you could see is some sort of responsible citizens of own country, passionaries. Fortunately we have them, but... all not such in bright colors... I hope, this war forced at least a part of rest to rethink their values.

Looks like "every man for himself".  They didn't even pause to drag their downed buddies out of the area - at about 2:13.  I like to believe that a western force would do that differently, even under fire.  Although my little CM pixeltruppen don't, they just run.
Relevant to the game if it modelled dragging-to-safety with certain militaries, because it would result in fewer KIA in the victory conditions as BLS could be done without pushing said pixeltruppen back into the zone under fire.

....also, every man for himself is what happens when units have not trained or operated together for long. Not much cohesion, team spirit, fellow feeling.

Another interesting thread here, re the RU manpower shortage.

This is not regular AFU unit, this is "Hospitallers" volunteer medical unit, operating since July 2014 for medical support of VUC Right Sector fighters. The founder of battalion is 18-years old (in 2014) Yana Zinevych, which was heavy injured in 2015 in car accident. Tasks of this unit - first aid on battlefield, evacuation from combat zone, surgical. Their tac-med level, level of equipment and motivation are very high. During the war on Donbas this unit evacuated from battlefield 2750 wounded soldiers of VUC and army units. In 2017 "Hospitallers" had 60 of personnel and aout 100 of reserve.

So running from buildings that are being shelled is actually a RL thing ... Lots of people and threads on this forum  appear to have disagreed with this notion in the past ... 😉

On paper the Leopard1s appear hopelessly outdated and of limited use, but so were the Sherman’s used by the Israelis up until the 70s.
The people manning them mattered more than the specs on paper.

I recall that the operators are already trained and deployed (to a degree at least), as Switchblade 300 was reportedly already used in combat. Those were included in the previous batch of american support. Now US is just sending more rounds AFAIK.
Let's see what happens, we'll probably see a first mass use of those in next few days.

Sorry mate, there is no way that does NOT end up as 'ethnic cleansing'. And that's just about the worst direction Ukraine can possibly take postwar.
Remember, well over half of Ukrainians have some form of Russian ties, ethnic, linguistic or marriage. Especially in the East. You want a huge chunk of your own citizenry looking nervously over their shoulders wondering if some dirtbag will denounce them to take their home?
Anyway, Ukraine is like Russia, a declining birthrate country. Who will resettle those 'cleansed' areas? Turkish migrants?
.... I would suggest the reverse. One great way to defang Russia is to brain drain it -- offer visas to their young technorati.
