  1. Is this going to improve the version of CMBN that we have on our PC's now? I am kinda lost here.
  2. But shouldn't the sherman crew also suffer from not having a covered arc? How the hell did that Panzer IV not get the first shot off?
  3. AKD, You should put your "corrected" version up on the repository. If you do you may want to edit the Allied setup zones. As of right now the right AT gun is out of a setup zone and cannot be moved during setup.
  4. *** Spoilers*** In "Closing the Pocket" battle downloaded from the repository but also maybe available in the demo (not sure) I have a strange observation. As the US, you get 4 M10's TD's later in the battle. I notice that these TD's have a radio in the list of items that can be damaged but I never have seen them have the radio C2 icon. Even if I put all 4 side by side out of combat for 10 minutes they just dont get a C2 radio icon. Anyone know what I am missing here?
  5. My guys with demo charges seem to like to use their grenades first on a tank and only THEN use the demo charges. This is completely backwards.
  6. I dont know about you guys but I think we should be able to use AT from inside buildings to offset the ubertanks in towns! LOL
  7. Sburke, It's not about if we blaze away high ammo usage at all. The POINT is that it is a simple fact you can do it in real life (pull ammo up off the wounded) and it was done alot so we should be able to do it in the game.
  8. Rocketman is correct. Anything else is just lazy game-defending rubish. In reality you can pick up your fallen comrades ammo. Probably 80% of it. Hell I would settle for 60%. Even if they are from a different company. There is no reason it shouldnt be that way in the game.
  9. Yeah I like that idea. So: 1. Be able to recover most ammo from fallen comrades. 2. See what special items are available before you do buddy aid 3. Share small arms ammo no matter what unit.
  10. I always thought that a tank should execute its "self preservation" mode if it ran into the situations above. You know, back away quickly to another position and from there, do an elevation check to see if it can defend itself. If not, back away again. Rinse, repeat.
  11. Actually, tanks can fire at 6 story buildings while adjacent. Its a limitation of this software. This and the "no shoot zooks/schrecks/fausts from inside buildings" equals some very difficult city fighting for infantry vs tanks.
  12. I would just like to chime in here as well. I am playing the Raff Campaign and I am not using the tanks for an added challenge. As you can guess, my boys are going through their ammo quickly hammering those hedgerows. When I go back to do buddy aid (really looking for ammo) on my guys who went down early without firing a shot I only get 3 or 4 rounds. This makes no sense. The guys doing the searching are almost out of ammo so it is not a weight issue. When a guy gets hit with rifle fire (especially from a single shot) we should be able to recover 80% of his ammo I would think. The few rounds being lost to damage/hidden/whatever. This is a area which I would REALLY like BFC to speak up on in this thread. It would be nice to hear their take.
  13. I use windows 7 64 bit but I will test when I get the chance.
  14. I am replaying the Raff campaign but this time, to make it more of a challenge, I will not use any of the tanks. Made it through the first mission (crossroads) with only 9 wounded or killed. Now on to the next mission!
  15. AKD, Have you heard anything from Steve on this?
  16. JonS, You do not qualify yourself very well if you still think that communication over a radio is done with the same speed and clarity as communication face to face. You simply cannot look at your 60mm mortar man and say "Johnson! Give me HE bearing 350 at 250 yards!" over the radio. I am not going to dismiss what the real 60mm mortarman from WW2 said as the amount of time it took until FFE (1 minute). He was there. He knows. Not every story from a vet is anecdotal. I mean we are talking about setting a direction and range relayed from a guy 10 meters away and dropping a bomb into a tube. I am not a 60mm mortarman but I know I could do that in 20 seconds flat with a setup mortar. Maybe I have a bug with my foxholes. Thanks for the thread AKD. I will look into it.
  17. Well there is more of a delay IRL when using a radio because of establishing contact and using proper radio proceedures, readbacks, ect, take time. I can relay information faster face to face than over a radio. Your modern day cellphone is a good example. Stories just take longer to tell when you are not face to face. It has already been established by a guy that did it IRL that 30 seconds was the time for first spotting round from a 60 mm mortar in combat conditions when the spotter was 10 meters away so the current system we use is off by several minutes. How is that more realistic overall? You mean to tell me that when you spot those foxholes a few hundred meters away you dont hose them down? I dont think we should spot the foxhole at all until much closer.
  18. After being away from the game for a bit and comming back I just wanted to bring up two things that I thought would have been corrected by now and see if there is a reason that they have not been. 1. When a HQ is spotting for a 60mm mortar sitting 10 meters away with voice icon the delay is still 5 minutes in elite mode. We had a person on this forum who had a family member that was an actual 60mm mortar guy in the WW2 era and he said that the time from first request from the HQ to the first spotting round leaving the tube was about 30 SECONDS and full FFE was 1 minute! This also just makes morre sense to me. Now when there are radios involved I can understand a delay but when it is close voice this long delay makes NO sense. Why hasn't this been changed to reflect a more realistic value? 2. It is still impossible to ambush from or get ambushed from an enemy non AI) in a foxhole as the foxholes themselves give away the positions. Are there any plans for a more camouflage foxhole?
  19. You are not doing anything wrong. The way LOS is calculated through brush and trees was changed after that map and tutorial was created. When CMBN was new you could use that building as an OP but with the changes you really cant. You did the correct thing. The hegerow (overwatch) makes for a great spot to send your mortars.
  20. ...and lets hope that the "morning fog" is very thick in the bulge module.
  21. Sorry my fix didnt work for you. That must be frustrating! I hope you get it worked out.
  22. YES! I had the exact same thing. I have not put CMSF on this computer either. Very strange. I had 40mm grenade text on my screen and the graphic bugs you are talkng about. I fixed it by redownloading the patch from a different site (<---probably not really needed but you never know) and deleting CMBN from my computer totally and reinstalling fresh. Then install patch (1.0 to 1.10). This fixed it and all is well. Good luck!
  23. Well I tested more while I was NOT near the map edge and it worked fine. When I was seeing the problem it was at the vey edge of the map.
  24. Try this: Split a US squad into teams and have the leader team face a direction and smoke in the same turn (WEGO). In my limited testing the leader throws the smoke 180 degrees the wrong way. Will test more. Happens at map edge.
