I went on Steam and then they said go away, and then some comments were deleted, then Combat Mission, then you don't own your games, then EULA stuff...then I passed the bong.
This is like a an acid trip where I didn't get any.

Well, after some trials and tribulations I have successfully modded another Independent building.
It's a whitewashed and weathered barn, suitable for most periods of CM.
    The Town of
    Маленький Mayhem
    Malenʹkyy Mayhem
is on its way, rather slowly, but I think it will now move foward.
BTW should I zip it to send it to the two game repositories?  As it is an extra building, not a replacement for existing ones it can be used immediately.

Once invited, one must look deep into the abyss within a sterile, controlled environment (deep in to woods of Maine, down a flight of very long, dark home-cobbled stairs), then make a scenario that reflects the essence of their experience. That seems to be the deciding factor in acceptance. These scenarios are then stored by Steve and Charles in something they call the "Soul Vault". There might just be some great 1960's and early 1970's record-albums in there, but...I think not, due to the weird blue vapors emanating from it.
The audio tape of my experience in the "Learning Chamber" (which Steve mails to those accepted in a plain manila envelope after 5 years) sits on my desk, unopened after receiving it a few years ago. I did tear it open enough to see a single image within, and it was this:

    I like that.
After the death of David Carradine, I told my brother if he ever finds me dead in an embarrassing position, like laying naked in bed covered in fudge, or croaked on the toilet ala Elvis, he is to get me dressed, go out and kill a shark or bear, tangle us up, destroy the room, and put a knife in my hand to make it look like we died fighting each other. I want to be a legend around the police station water cooler. Moral of this story? That's my shoe size talking...on just about any topic.
I always say, life is what you make it. If you choose to believe the world is a horrible place than that's what it will be. I find happiness in the smallest things; a nice summer evening, a crisp autumn afternoon, a brand new pair of socks, a fresh piece of paper, a new book, some cool music, etc.. If you learn to appreciate the seemingly insignificant then your existence will be filled with many joys and surprises. And of course find the humor in everything.
@Erwin. Yep, if you think about it, all this board is is a collection of (mostly) grown guys still playing in the backyard with their army men.

That day they announced the death of feature envy was probably the best day in my wargaming life. I was so pumped I could've did cartwheels. That kind of design decision for a game like CM is what battlefield dreams are made of.
Not me! I talk about it to anybody I tell CM about. It's probably the first thing I bring up once I explain the game to them.

Man, some people get worked up over the smallest of things. BFC will announce a date; check in on that date, if the game's out, buy it; If it's not, check in again on the revised date.  In the meantime do something else. Life goes on.

You are both right actually. I should refrain and check in on a later date. My posts aren't helpful at all and don't change a thing. I will do everybody a favor and stop posting until the end of the year.

First off nice try, but we don't get to dictate.  Why?  Because the above statement for example reflects an assumption- patently false that only one game can be worked on at a time.  There is a division of labor which means if Charles is waiting on something from someone else he should do nothing basically wasting time he could spend on another title.  That is something you should understand if you are going to make suggestions and if you don't understand it you should refrain.

This module will indeed fill the maps (and QB maps) out. I’ll say what I can.
Have a look at Aachen (all maps), Stavelot, Noville, Nijmegen, Elst, Ortona, and about half a dozen other CM big maps through other CM titles to see what I bring. MarkEzra is the master of the QB AI plan, and with the other guys kicking stuff in....there will be maps.
Steve also released 2 screenshots that show partials of two of the maps for the module. So, the maps are indeed going to be rounded out.
When the time comes on this module to get the gogogo, and I have the OK, we can give you guys the final list, from which QB maps are made (plus there are generally others that are from scratch QB maps of a smaller size than the masssive ones). And the big maps will of course be included for people to chop up themselves for their own scenarios.

Done...  before I  even got to your post. Trolls like this are a major reason why I rarely post on any forum.  The anonymity of the keyboard gives far too many a presumed right to be asshats  obnoxious.  I'm far from thin-skinned, but I doubt he's spoken with too many people in that vein

There is no competition. One is an FPS, and one is the Greatest Game on my computer, and always will be.

Battle Academy is a fun game. I play the ancients stuff as well on that engine from time to time- which signifies a good game system to me. I can be mildly interested in the subject matter, but the game elements draw me into the historical experience (and is also entertaining to play)
I don't know for sure how accurate the armor modelling is in PS, but everything seems to have made sense in the 3 nights I've played. Watch a tutorial or two on YouTube, as it will explain the roles to you. Thre's basically infantry, engineers and armor forces. Infantry can't pop into tanks, etc. You have your particular slot.
There are indeed proper seating positions for each vehicle, and if you play with people that are on the ball, each position in an AFV can be played as expected (player commanding, etc). I've seen long range duels between Fireflies and Panthers (I think! I stayed clear as a rifleman) with deflections, and close range surprise fights between AFVs- but the general FPS nonsense is generally absent.
I am actually with you- I can't stand multiplayer games for the most part, and FPS ones are the worst. I'm a 48 year old man that's seen some stuff in his time. I don't need to hear what passes for funny for ill behaved 14 year olds anymore (or 60 year old 14 year olds, for that matter). But the people playing this so far seem fairly serious, and I can get into that.
I don't know if bots will be added to PS- but there is a greyed out (it's in seriously late Alpha- no bugs for me yet) that says "Practice Mode", so I'd think that is a strong possibility.
But most of my time is spent right here, in CM Land. That's been the constant since 2000 or 2001. It's hazy now.

I do recall at one time there was a "No commercial links" bit on the website, but I also don't see it. I do believe that is still the policy. We all do discuss other games in the "General Forum" below- so that may be a better venue, since this is technically the CM General discussion area.

The main Fortress Italy page (with the short description and three game choices) has a bad typo.
"Combat Mission Fortress Italy (CMFI) allows you to experience the "soft underbelly" of the Third Reich.  The initial release details the Sicilian campaign in the summer of 1943, with expansions portraying the tough fighting up the Italian pininsual through to the end of the war.  Click on the Base Game option to see the full range of information about Fortress Italy."
I am not sure what a "pininsual" is exactly but it sounds oddly anatomical, like a gland or something. Along with the "soft underbelly" phrase it makes for a very engaging paragraph. Did I say "typo?" On second thought, forget I mentioned it.

There is a cost to everything. Stopping to change the engine would have meant stopping the release of new games and if there is one thing I think we can all agree on is our intake of new product from BF sometimes feels like a crash diet.
Within that CM is still one of the most stable games I have. I get crashes quite frequently with others and it takes a lot for me to cause that with CM. I pretty much have to keep loading really big maps in the editor to 3d view over and over.
