  1. In the dropteam engine review they talk about the inside of vehicles being modelled quite accurately: linky Even to the extent that if the radio gets shot through, the tank is out of contact. I'd expect the same sort of thing for CMx2.
  2. The best I've had is being locked to an enemy AFV going down a road, as it disappeared from view the lock wasn't lost, and my POV moved to where it went. Never worked again for me though. The most abused glitch in the game is the ground type display under a unit goes blank if the unit is destroyed. Mainly used for seeing if you really did kill that AT gun. Don't know how I'm going to live without it in Cmx2.
  3. I'm playing Elmar in LfB, we were doing 3-4 turns a night until the 1km first shot hit on his (FOW). Dropped off somewhat after that. Still we should be finished soonish. Maybe by the end of this weekend. Or at least A weekend.
  4. I'm playing LfB against Elmar cheers. It's going swimmingly now.
  5. In non-RT mode can we rewind the action? Sorry if this has been stated but I'm under the weather today.
  6. For me, the fun of CM has been making plans and seeing them unravel, or even occasionally work. The fact that you are committed to 60s of action is what keeps me playing. And of course, being able to rewind a specific piece of action to see exactly WHAT happened. Saying that, one of the things that put me off playing CM until so relatively late was the fact that it was turn based. So having both available really is the best of both worlds. Hurrrm...In the non-RT option, we still get to rewind the movie, yes?
  7. Will the player be able to pause and check, say, the previous 60 secs action? Sort of like a rolling 60 secs action buffer?
  8. It's the dust I think. It's got to calculate the size & shape of the dust cloud and calculate LOS through it. Steve said that LOS from anywhere on the map was a pre-calculated table, therefore the dust being added must be done in a seperate and probably CPU/RAM intensive process.
  9. Kingfish, I've emailed you this but I'll post it here too, just in case; Hi, I'm playing Mike Dorosh in Loaded for Bear and he doesn't feel he can finish in the time available, what with different time zones etc. i'd love to finish if there is someone else i can play. if you have no-one, i am friends with Elmar, who i think has already played LfB but had the Soviet side there as well: Elmar Bijlsma {email address deleted} i'd be willing to play him if you can't find anyone else, ideally someone close so we can do a few turns a night. I've CC'ed Elmar into this so he's got visibility of me dropping him in it.
  10. As you play you will realise that this isn't true. 15 tanks vs 1 tank, even if it's PzIII's or IV's vs a KV, do damage to the tanks tracks and vision systems. This is moddeled in the game so 15 to 1 would end up with the KV with a "gun hit" which means he can't shoot and "Immobilised" so he can't move. Usually the crew with then abandon it, if they haven't already. You'll get a lot of dead III's & IV's but having the bigger tank != assured victory. It's one of the things that make the game fun. This kind of attack is called "hail fire" and was historically how lighter tanks took out heavier. Good luck with the game.
  11. Sounds like an excellent module though.
  12. Lol. Boy, I bet your face is Emerald.
  13. I've had squads like that kill guns in seconds. Don't let the fact that you've experienced a freak result affect your decision making in the future. You may never see that particular result again, although personally I'd keep them no closer than 30m.
  14. That's my guess. Something you're not picking up because of FOW. Listen for the sound of a sniper before they start to move.
  15. --> <-- This far from quoting the whole post and "Thanks". Interesting stuff though. Might be fun playing Syrians after all.
  16. Huh? Where did you get that idea from? I've never heard that before. Isn't it a Zis? Checking from CMBB, the Zis-2 is 57/L73, while the British 6pdr in CMAK is 57/L43. Looks clear to me. Oh, and L&L Valentine IX and Churchill III (?) in CMBB do however have the British guns, of course. Of these, Valentine's gun is L50. The ingame L73 is slightly more powerful than L50, which is again slightly more powerful than L43. An interesting difference is that the Soviet gun has a blast value of 26 compared to 19 for both Brit guns. </font>
  17. I'm no expert on this but ISTM that if you lengthen the barrel without adding more propellant, you MV will actually decrease. The Soviets could probably include more propellant in the charge, or increase its efficiency, therefore lengthening the barrel would actually do some good. Also, I think the Soviet 57mm were all CW lend lease 6pdrs, rather than built in house, that's why in the game they are more use as the CW propellant was of a higher quality. The Soviet 76mm seems dreadfully under modeled to me. But then, I'm not qualified to have an opinion .
  18. You're right. If the unit feels threatened, it will fire on the threat. It works well most of the time, I think.
  19. Mike Dorosh and I are doing OK on LfB now, but realistically it will take us a few weeks to finish.
  20. Pair Programming, if it's what I'm thinking of, is quite a cool concept. Basically 2 people work on one piece of code. This enables each to spot check the other and lets them bring 2 times as much brain power to bear. Guess why it's not the norm? Yup $$$. So if that is what they're doing then kudos to them. It's quite a commitment.
