  1. Can you not use Tiger smoke to give the Engineers rally time Jason?
  2. I thought I saw this happen in a scenario I was playing. One of my squads was using MTC with a covered arc, but didn't stop when contact was made with enemy troops outside of that arc. I checked and my squad did have LOS to the enemy. So, I was a bit confused for a while. Thanks for the clarification! </font>
  3. Additionally, MTC used with a cover arc will restrict the units that stop the MTC to those within the arc. They still stop when under fire.
  4. Oh yeah, you wouldn't want to look stupid .
  5. This seems a little harsh when you've not even seen it. I hate the setting myself but I'll at least read the reviews and see if they change my mind. To me, CM is about laying plans and gaining tactical advantage by good use of what you've got. CMSF could still have that. The US army is good, but it's not a cartoon foot from on high stamping everything it sees, it can be beaten if you do the right things with the right things. And the real time is adjustable AFAIK. The only *real* deal breaker for me is a lack of an asynchronous play option and we haven't heard anything about that yet. If it's pure TCP or even worst, single player then I really don't see the point. Gaining advantage over the AI or some l33t h4><0z kiddy has ZERO appeal. Some of us have kids, you need to be able to take as long as you want over games.
  6. Do you have a screenshot, taken at ZERO magnification, of this happening, as it's never been reported before.
  7. The terrain that can be seen is only a representation of what the game actually uses. When you have your waypoint, the actual terrain that the unit will be in is displayed...you know I've seen it a million times but I'm not sure if it's under the mouse or on the status panel. Anyway, place your units that way. And tanks on zero magnification won't go through each other.
  8. Ghost Column at Rzhavets. We had an absolute blast with this one, I'd recommend it to anyone. Everyone in fact.
  9. Der Alte Fritz, this site may help: http://cmbb.jemian.com/ It gives all the info from the game in one place. To add to JasonC's advice, target the preferred target from out of LOS to decrease the time taken to acquire it.
  10. They are just fooling with you. Download scenarios into your Scenarios folder C:\Program Files\Combat Mission 3 Afrika Korps\Run\Scenarios for me. They are free, there are several sites that hold them, this one is on "The Proving Grounds", here's the link Omaha. You'll need to register but it's free and they don't use your details etc. The reason they were pulling your leg is that all this info can be found by reading the manual or searching this site. RTFM
  11. Ahh I see. The best we can do is to store movies with a text or other file saying what the password is. You can extract images from it as a screenshot and have them in a HTML file. These are called "After Action Reports" (AAR's). There are several around, although most have just images and no movies. Take this recent thread for instance: AAR The introduction of movies is a good idea but the file size tends to be too big; I know this is why you ask if we can just store orders, but we cannot due to the reasons I gave in my first response. Does this answer your question?

  13. Do you mean is there a way to send the commands and have the movie developed seperately to cut down on file size? No. Each time a movie is made there are hundreds of different decisions made, you could replay the same turn over and over and never get the same result. So the combatants must share the movie. Another way to play is "trusted" mode, using PBEM Helper http://www.nic.fi/~fuerte/pbem.htm this allows you to play 2 turns/email but as it is easy to cheat, it's only good with someone you trust. I hope either of these answers helps.

  15. Have you modded the front screen? ISTM* that PBEMH fakes a click to the button on the page to open the dialogs etc. As I'd replaced the image with another one but the buttons didn't match. They were too low, therefore the click that was meant to open "multiplayer" opened "single player". Then the faked button click for "exit" actually opened "editor". So when I replaced the image back the buttons were in the correct place and the faked click worked. So back up you BMP folder, re-install CM and see if PBEMH works as it should. *someone will now come along with the real answer.
  16. I found out what it was. I was using a new HP image without the matching buttons. PBEMH seems to go by faking screen clicks: As the buttons were in the wrong place I was pressing the wrong ones. Madness.
  17. PBEMH started acting very odd today. When a file was opened, instead of going multiplayer->load email, it went to scenarios. If I exited that by hand and went to multiplayer->load email, it would load the correct one and work fine, until the next time it had to interact with the main menu when it would do the same again. In the final step, instead of exiting it would open the editor. The only thing I've changed (I think...) is I've installed a new front screen image, which obviously wouldn't do anything. Very odd.
  18. I don't know art, but I know what I like. Beautiful.
  19. An AAR like this reminds me why I fell in love with this game.
  20. I'm enjoying this. Could do with a few screenshots if you've got the time. After the battle of course.
  21. The communication channel news is very interesting.
  22. Have you area fired as close to the guys as you can? Don't target them directly as they duck - get 0 exposure and everyone stops firing. Then they stand up when they've had a refreshing cower and are ready to fight again. If you area fire next to them then you force them past supressed into broken and then they abandon the weapon. If you're already doing this, forget I said it.
