  1. Why are these things not in the instruction manual? My friend said, "It's common sense, man," to which I replied, "Um, maybe in real life, but in games, I expect to be told things like that." I am disappointed in the manual writers. Oh well. Thanks guyzos. [edit] Don't get me wrong. It's cool that the game takes that into account. I just think that's an important detail worth noting somewhere. [ April 16, 2007, 12:40 AM: Message edited by: Noman ]
  2. A friend of mine and I are having a debate. As the defender I was practicing the "hit and fallback" routine, and during the "fallback" portion I had a unit set to "run". Said unit turned and began to run before coming under a lot of fire from man different directions. It quickly broke, and my friend made a comment about it not being surprising since it was shot "in the back". I said it broke because it was during a "run" move, and because of the combined firepower of the units targeting it. He agreed but stated that direction the firepower is coming from also matters. He went on to say that units are more likely to surrender if they are flanked or "surrounded" by fire. I thought it was just proximity to the attackers combined with morale/status. In the case of armour, I understand, but I don't think an infantry unit "shot in the back" is any more likely to break/surrender then a unit taking fire from in front of it (even though the unit will have to turn and face it's attacker). Who's right?
  3. I am making a scenario for the first time. In the instruction booklet it says that to load up a file for the briefings, it must be a .txt file. What exactly is that and can I save a file as such from a program like Wordperfect? Thanks in advance. Noman
  4. 27 and gaming till I die - which may be soon if I don't leave my room for food - and the excrement is starting to pile up beside my chair.
  5. Something strange happened in a game I am currently engaged in. I'd lost sight of a jeep just as it drove over a hill so up pops the tag. A few rounds later (at the beginning of the view) I was flipping through tags and noticed that the status of the jeep had changed. It said bogged. During the course of the round, it changed from bogged to immobile to abandoned. Is this a glitch or what? I shouldn't be receiving that sort of info!
  6. There are alot of factors but how about buying a 150mm Inf gun and a 251 to tow it? Even if you can't afford both as regulars, you have tons of ammo with the Inf Gun so even a greens gonna hit eventually, and a green 251 should have no worries chasing down routed inf under mg fire if buttoned up. Depending on the distance, the only fire the Inf Gun may need to worry about from the russian inf may be mortar fire. And if you have to cross the gap, the Inf Gun does have smoke rounds also. Hey why not load up a squad of inf onto the 251 and advance on the forest while the Inf Gun lays down smoke and/or cover fire? Just a thought. I'm a huge fan of the 150mm Inf Gun and use them in almost every battle (with a 251 towing and a MG42 escourt along for the ride). [ May 12, 2005, 01:17 AM: Message edited by: MaxDFury ]
  7. My favourite moment so far was against my best friend via a LAN game. Bear in mind this game was immediatley after a humiliating defeat at his hands after badly losing the armour war. My revenge would be sweet. So...I was the Gerries in a late war game versus the Soviets. My friend, poor soul, had been fed lies by the computer, who had incorrectly given him a positive ID on my Jadgtiger as a Tiger and "ambushed" it with 3 captured Panthers it as I was cresting a hill (the sheep ambushing the wolf in sheeps clothing?). They were veteran units and very accurate with their shots but, too bad so sad, all 8 or 9 shots they fired in the first round of battle ricocheted harmlessly off my 250mm of front armour. And I laughed... Actually, my words to him were "AHAHAHAHAHA!!! As your friend I must advice you to FLEE! FLEE NOW!! FLEE WHILE YOU CAN!!!" His response was an enraged "WTF!" (Remember he was getting a positive ID as a Tiger) He decided to stick it out for another 2 rounds. My J-T decided he wasn't gonna stick it out another 2 rounds. And I laughed some more. All this was after my J-T had killed a couple of his KV-2's that thought they could kill my "Tiger". I probably had 20 rounds ricochet off the J-T that match. Good times. Incidently, after calling a ceasefire due to a very late hour, he still had all the flags (5?) but I beat him hands down for points. I'd decided I was just gonna bombard him into oblivion with my Brumbars and J-T's HE rounds and the plan had been a overwhelming success. Poor bastage! P.S. In response to "How do I take pics of screenshots?" this is on the FAQ: "On a PC press Print Screen. This saves the screen to the clipboard. Then open Paint and use Ctrl + V to paste to a new document." -Big Ron" What if I don't have a paint program, what is a clipboard, and how do I attatch a pic to a post? Sorry I'm rather ignorant of computer whatchamadoozits... P.P.S. Dandelion, the games which leave you exhausted are the most satisfing for sure. Great post!
