Barticus
I was sorting through some vacation photos from two years ago and stumbled across this pic which may be pertinent to this forum's interests. So....at the risk of resurrecting an old flame war i give you.......The Bren Gun Tripod!

Holman
This controversy may now be laid to rest! I have gone through the editor very carefully, and I can confirm that every Bren in CMBN is fully tripod-capable.
Sgt Joch
I have it on good authority that the Bren Tripod will be in...i'm just not sure if it will be in the Canadian module or the Space Lobsters game.
Michael Emrys
Nice pic, Barticus, and thanks for posting it. However, it was established long ago that the Bren tripod did exist and was issued to units, but rarely used in practice. The Brits already had the Vickers for the MMG/HMG role and the tripod would just be an encumbrance for the LMG role. Nevertheless, it did see some use now and then. Black Jack Pershing III
Wouldn't the tripod make it more difficult to fire from the hip?
Michael Emrys
And just about impossible to fire from the shoulder while standing. Michael
WineCape
Dear Almighty God. Not the Bren Fry-pot thread again. [Hi Mom!]
Lt Belenko
IIRC the tripod was only issued to the Space Lobsters of Doom and was never on the TO&E for the Commonwealth Forces. Please close this thread.
gunnergoz
Didn't the Finns have some made out of tree trunks? If they could fire those from the hip, why couldn't the Brits do the same? Weeners.

Cymru
Having actually trained with one of these in the late 50s, I remember (as much as I can nowadays) that the joints were notorious for pinching fingers and the set-up time made it less than useful. Our RSM did mention that in WWII an abnormally high percentage reported as 'lost during action.'

FFE
Wait a minute. We need someone to reconfigure that Bren tripod into its AA stance, pronto!
