"Chance Encounter" CMBN scenario ready to download
CaptainFoobar replied to TCMHQ's topic in CM Normandy Maps and Mods
Ive just played it for the 3rd time, The old magic is back, I love this map. Tom, this does justice to the original... I love the compound around the church too, helps those green german squads grasp a foothold a little bit better Well done! -
Panzer Lehr Campaign - Spoilers
CaptainFoobar replied to CaptainFoobar's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Well I had 2 Panthers get an epic number of kills near the fountain, but 1 ran out of ammo eventually and the other was immobilized 200 yds back. All other armor of mine was dead either due to enemy fire or my stupidity That left my column of halftracks waiting in the background, but sadly still 3 allied tanks blocking the exit path. I wish I could have won it 1st time around without knowing the enemy disposition, but I have to go replay it. I want revenge!!! Foobar -
Anyone turn this campaign into a successful outcome? I just got violated by Steve Grammont's mission 4, right after the attack on Le Desert Had a great time with it, just wondering if an Axis "win" is really possible Foobar

Broadsword, In the case of 'Last Defense', 'Valley of Trouble', and 'Chance Encounter'.. I would say that there is nothing particularly unique and groundbreaking, other than the fact that these were the ONLY maps available to us when we were waiting for CMBO to come out. And as such, the result was a common experience, and a source of nostalgia... Also, it was our FIRST taste of the Combat Mission magic. You will probably be underwhelmed with playing them after hearing the hype, but I think this is what is behind it, at least for me... Foobar

Just finished the campaign; I had a great time, thank you so much!. I liked the village with the church, it felt very real, and not like a "map" I had a thought for you if youre doing a german campaign and working on dialog and backstory... Read, or re-read All Quiet on the Western Front. Its a quick read, and although its WW1, it gives a great internal monologue, and daily interactions in an infantry squad; just the sort of thing that could inspire some good briefings Thanks again! A lot of old timers coming back
CaptainFoobar replied to Nidan1's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Well I'm glad to be here! We would have take JoeShaw with us on our Battlefront Sabbatical, but I dont think he is fit for anywhere else. So where do I get a game on here now? It used to be the Madmatt's CMHQ; Im scared to go in the 'pool. I was afraid it was still here, but its gotten even worse in there... I dont think they are even speaking english anymore. Its some weird scottish accent-monty pythonese grognard hybrid. Cant understand a word of it... Foobar -
