To plaice the subject matter of this thread back in context I have after much oogling ascertained that the true origins of this title are more complex than would appear at first sight.

The "Space Lobsters of Doom" was in fact a fall-back - the original epic being called,

"Spice Mobsters of Dune"

the studio hoping of course to cash in on the coat-tails of the Lawrence of A., Godfather and basket full of druggie flicks.

For those "Groks" who want the full story read on;

The reason for the last minute change are somewhat shrouded in mystery, However the two main schools of thought are as follows;

In the run up to the release of the epic (ie after the big Bucks had been spent) it was found that that a well Known Sci Fi author might have grounds for successful litigation against the whole shebang, so the Producer/Director, Hiam A. Shmuck being the cheapskate that he was sought a real el-cheapo solution - "Just change the fecking title for Somebody's sake"!

The second and more generally acknowledged (at least to those who were in the know) reason is put down to our Hiam's Secretary and (very) PA "A typo in every word" Ami Agudleigh? showing that the grey stuff lacking between her ears was more than made up for by the abundant corn coloured stuff flowing around them. (To her credit it must be noted she was spot on with the "of" even though when at a later date when her services were no longer required she was unable to arrange the words Off, F**k into a well known phrase or meaningful saying).

Which is true? You may well ask..

David
