CM2 Name Poll

Recommended Posts

This is a poll for what CM2 should be called. Currently BTS wants to call CM2:

CM2: Barbarossa to Berlin

IMHO, this name is terrible. My suggestion would be:

CM2: Eastern Front, WWII

OR

CM2: Berlin to Stalingrad WWII :D

People will identify with these names better.

Regards,

Gunny Bunny

You say that as though they required our permission to name it that. Kind of arogant, don't you think?

The first is rather unimaginative and the second is bass ackward. I should mention that anyone with even a limited knowledge of WW2 should be able to identify with Barbarossa to Berlin

Since CM1 was titled "Combat Mission: Beyond Overlord", I'm really surprised CM2 wasn't simply named "Combat Mission 2: Beyond Barbarossa".

Seems to follow the logic of the first title, and it still has the clever connsonance (or is it alluring alliteration?).

CM: Beyond Overlord does not actually cover Overlord (neither beach landings or airborne landings), while CM: Barbarosa to Berlin covers Barbarosa

In Soviet text books there was no "against fascism" part. The longest name I've ever seen, iirc, was "The Great Patriotic War of Soviet Union 1941-45".

By the way, "Patriotic" is not a good translation. "Otechestvennaya Voina" literally means "fatherland war"; ie, the war of all people living in the country, for the country. This term itself is an anachronism. The first war that was dubbed "otechestvennaya" in Russia was against polish occupation, XVII century. The one against Napoleon was the second "otechestvennaya voina", and Soviet part of WWII was the third.

:D

I think that's my favourite!

Or how about:

CM2: The heroic struggle of the finnish army against the rest of the world.

Sorry, just couln't resist... ;)

Whatever they call it I hope they get rid of pillbox sound contacts (before the things even fire)

And they just _have_ to model drive-by shootings. Like a German HQ is loitering by a light building, and a jeep comes hauling ass with a roosky half-squad in it, they mow von Fritz down, go up on two wheels turning around, and buzz back to their own lines torturing a captured accordian in the back seat. As it is now, the guys have to dismount first which takes the whole thrill out of it.

Combat Mission: Great Patriotic War.

This is how Soviet-German war 1941-1945 is called in Russia and Ex-USSR.

But i doubt this name would be attractive to western players, so

Combat Mission: Eastern Front seems to be good compromise.
