Strykr45 reacted to Artkin in MASTERTOE Russian Motorized Rifle Brigade
I have quickly created a crude demonstrator scenario based off the Russian BTG on the move.
Ukrainian Situation:
March 3rd, just South of Ivankiv.
Yesterday the Orcs completely captured Ivankiv. Today they penetrated our lines deeply in the Southern direction and have left us cut off from the rest of our Battalion. We haven't created any serious defensive positions along this axis since nobody expected an attack from Pripyat.
Orders are to hold position and cause significant damage to our enemy. Prevent them from entering Alsfeld (Town South of river ingame). Their strongest forces have already passed, and have made contact with our rear.
Russian Situation:
Today our Brigade has made huge advances in the direction of Kiev. Territorial Defense completely collapsed under the might of the God of War!
You are in charge of a Battalion tactical group on the march. Ahead of you is 2nd company, who just reported in on Battalion net 5 minutes ago claiming that they made significant contact in Alsfeld.
Your task is to keep up with the rest of the BTG. Move all of our supplies and logistics forward as soon as possible and help the fight at Alsfeld. The pace of the march into Kiev relies on you, Commander. You have one hour.
Black box indicates where scenario takes place:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/7fv64y9aj8e14a7/Russian MRB Demonstration Scenario.btt?dl=0
notes: This scenario gives a feel for how the Russians might have felt early on in the war: Rushing equipment forward like a traditional Soviet assault to outpace the redeploying Ukrainian army. 1 small AI plan for each side, Pbem compatible (set reinforcement to 8 for blufor main body. Also set to muddy conditions). 100mm guns represent 122mm grad rocket launchers. Also the BTG Support company + Artillery Bn were chopped down a bit.

Had wee break due to family stuff.
Back to creating AI plan for the Soviets. Some screens (I'm playing Germans against my AI plan).
SPW move up to support the Panthers.
Männer gegen Panzer
The Soviet AI plan certainly has mass behind it!

Strykr45 reacted to LukeFF in How Hot is Ukraine Gonna Get?
Sure, but like @purpheart23 was pointing out, all I'd like to see is some oversight as well about where this money is going (as with any spending bill that comes up before Congress). It doesn't really matter to me in the long run if it was a conservative, liberal, or a senator of any other political stripe making the point. Politicians are going to be politicians and thus will always grandstand to one extent or the other, but it doesn't necessarily mean that the point they are making is a bad one.

Strykr45 reacted to LukeFF in How Hot is Ukraine Gonna Get?
No, not really - all he was/is asking for is some proper oversight into how this money is going to be spent. Without going off into tangents, the U.S. has been spending a lot of money recently on weapons for Ukraine (while ignoring some other critical, domestic issues), so it's only rational that someone with some sense stood up and said, hold on, where exactly is this money going?

We have our own issues, with supply chains, inflation, housing costs, last thing we need to do is print 40 bn more dollars to send to Europe to be laundered and for a war that's well on it's way to being decided.

That's conjecture, no i'm a fan of being fiscally responsible where it makes sense, we've already armed them with AT, Artillery, ISR assets, who knows what else. If anybody needs to fork over that money, it's the EU, after all they stand the most to lose. When the money finally moves, because it will, politicians gotta get paid you know, why not get receipts?

Strykr45 reacted to WimO in New scenario with new map at the FGM Repository - Villiers le Sec
This announcement is a little dated since I posted the map a few weeks back. It is posted as a scenario '6th Green Howards to Villiers le Sec'. The map is historically correct and measures 3 km x 4 km. The Green Howards fought across this area from noon to late afternoon on D-Day. Another wide open map, ideal for tank engagements. On D-Day the Germans were a little thin on the ground at this location. The counter-attack during the afternoon struck the Brits a few kilometers to the west. In the scenario I have imagined that a portion of the German counter-attacking force has drifted onto the map. Another 'adjustment' is the need to eliminate the German battery in Crepon rather than bypass it and take it out on D+1 as happened historically.
I recommend Falaise's new Caen stone church skins for the correct look as well as building skings by TaL, Umlaut and my own Hauts Vents building skins. The latter have been renumbered so that they can be added without overwriting the modded skins of other modders.

Strykr45 reacted to Rooks And Kings in Combat Mission Black Sea: Training Scenarios
I don't think they necessarily improve over the base game, just giving new players the ability to have more teaching moments. Also updated version fixing some AI plan issues.

I'd love for this topic to be about the war and not a coffee house academic discussion about the differences between the political Left and Right.

Strykr45 reacted to Valkyrie Yukikaze in Valkyrie's Russian & Ukraine Soldiers: my personal merging of infantry mod from Oleksandr's work, Blimey's work, Billy_sp's work, and Kieme's work.
Not yet, I'm still working on it. I should be able to finish it in the end of this month or next. (I'm working on both Russian and Ukrainian; plus improve details for vehicles.)

Testing about arm band which seems successful.
