Incidentally, I've just been working on the 222 and 223 for Kohlenklau´s Romania mod.
So it was just a few minutes work to tweak them for CMBN - if you´d like a more weathered version.
They are a quick mod, though, so there are probably some details missing.

Give riding infantry a dismount order before plotting a movement order for the vehicle. The vehicle will move without the infantry. Do this a terrain feature away from a danger area.

I think the late variant Shermans still had the edge, but much less of one than vs. the T-34/76. Having a two-man turret eliminates the earlier T-34s from being considered in the running IMO.
Over the years I've gone from thinking the Germans had the best tanks, to the T-34, to the realization that the much-maligned Sherman was the best tank by a pretty wide margin. By "best" I mean operationally and strategically. Ease of production, reliability, parts standardization and supply, ease of transport (could and did go anywhere by whatever), adaptability and ability to upgrade, crew situational awareness and comm equipment, ergonomics and crew fatigue, ease of bail-out and ability to survive (astonishingly low fatality rates compared to the other tanks of the war across the board), etc. The T-34 K/D ratios were appallingly bad and, unlike the Sherman where on average four guys survived to apply lessons learned, you had just one for the T-34.
The Sherman was truly a war-winning tank in every sense of the term. Sure, it might be in trouble in certain tactical situations vs. certain opponents, but those don't outweigh its strengths and performance in macro.

Here is a series of images with my August Normandy setting showing a good part of the Lucky strike mod. This option avoids the use of Shader that I do not like and also aims to have a homogeneous display even if you leave the level vision of the ground and that you gain height by avoiding the "plated" effect of the textures at mid height.
Our war correspondent, friend of Ernest Hemingway follows an American attack in August 1944,he uses a personal film in Kodak Color normally prohibited on the Western Front !!!

A Sherman progresses in a road...
A classic portrait of a US infantryman awaiting engagement.

The Shermans are making progress !! the photographer is hiding in a cereal field overgrown with cornflower flower

By a breach in the hedges, he photographs an infantryman in the middle of the race.

A sherman stopped at one end of a field of flax "rotting , ruissant in french". This culture is quite specific to Normandy

Events are accelerating !! A combat group positions itself before the assault.

The photographer decided to follow the attack as closely as possible

A shooting breaks out at close range; a German grenade is visible in the back of the infantryman who fires! Luckily there is only one minor injury.

While our reporter came to his senses, the attack progressed, the road is crossed

The battle calms down, a Sherman approaches, the tank commander no longer fears snipers.

The last image! next to a typical Norman house and a barrier eaten away by lichens, a pierced Panther next to which lies one of the crew members.

Added a version for CMFB, and will try to add the rest for the other games over the next week or two. Its really quick to make because I have all the templates set up...

Think it will look nice as a series across all the games:

Looking at the magnificent master map: "Les Hauts Vents & Pont Hébert" from Kandu which used "Road at 22.5 °" for its realization, I saw that the mod could be improved.

    So here is version 2

I invite you to go and see the results on this map where the new mod is up to the breathtaking work it has done.

    use

Dragged the file into your z file

It will appear in maps made with 22.5 ° roads

For the design of a map, the keys 1 2 3 5 8 10 13 and 15 are now available and will allow you to make the roads at 22.5 ° but also a wide variety of turns.

For maps containing a highway, it can cause problems (to be checked according to the map) in this case it must be removed from the z file

Okay folks - it's the weekend (still) and now that all the drama is over we can get back to driving tanks through hedges ... and of course today remembering the guys that did it for real.
Go here to get the read me pdf file (please)
Then here and here for the two zip archives. (Hint - if you just want to get started without any faff then download the read me, grab the first zip file and you'll be playing in no time.)
Once it's been out for a few days and nobody has complained that it's broken their rig I'll get in touch with @Bootie to upload it to the warehouse, 'cos he probably hasn't got anywhere near enough to do ...

Now try to play this at iron, at ground level, with no spotting icons ... everything will soon suck!

    Thanks!
    It is working now
Even the depth effects seem to sort of work, focusing exactly on where the camera is pointing. So guess it can make nice screenshots. Although like you say it maybe a good idea to dive a bit deeper into the inner workings of all those and set it up properly.
I did get one error when loading the presets: "Some textures failed to load:  'V__PandaFX__NoiseTex'", tried updating all shaders again but that didn't fix it.
Anyway, it does look great already! So, again massive thanks! It is time to see it in action

Long story short...the kubelwagen I used for that snow camo was a bmp from CMFI and I noticed just now it was only 1012 x 506 and the one I used for a kubelwagen mod in CMBN was 2024 x 1012.
LIke 4 times as big. Wow. It is hard to put a tiny symbol on an image that is already small. So I went back to the larger kubelwagen bmp as the base layer. The symbols look good, I just have to now redo the whitewash.

During a rollercoaster year, one thing that has kept me happily distracted and occupied has been CM:BN and Paper Tiger's incredible Scottish Corridor campaign. Has been great fun commanding (and often cursing at!) the slow and lumbering Churchills seen below..
