  1. You work together with Infantry? I don't know how long you have played the game. If your infantry can pass on their contact icons, the AFV's get much quicker full contact. Infantry spots AFV reliably at up to 1500 meters.
  2. You could create a 'house skin' for a bunker? I am only a novice in editing. Thank you very much for your attention.
  3. I only started recently playing with the editor. So don't get mad if I ask silly questions. Would it be possible if you increase the terrain by a few numbers overall and bring the cellars down?
  4. Very nice effort and I admire it. Would it be difficult to make houses with cellars? Or fortified houses, inner walls sandbagged and even foxhole type modifications inside?
  5. You need a degree to be considered for crew training. Like the first world war highly trained troops who could do the mad minute. By 1916 it was back to cannon fodder. 148 of these AFV's. Russian production will be geared for logistics and a driver's license and highschool certificate will be sufficient.
  6. I concur, I have not touched any other CM games. I like playing as Soviets just to make the C2 work for them. In future games I like to see more means of communications apart from radio. Real life examples cut jerry cans and face shiny part towards your troops. These could be night missions; infantry reaches them they knock them over. Other echelons can see how the advance goes. Defending troops use them as range finders. Advantage for the Soviets? Sunrise is in the east. Infantry were masters in innovation.
  7. I like this campaign. The FO is green if my memory serves me right. I made the HQ Sherman a FiST vehicle. The dialog said be economical with AFV ammunition feel free to use the 105mm. As they say the rest is history. What I like about it is the scouting party at the beginning. Find observer and firing positions. Made sure contact icons are shared among the engagement parties.
  8. Yes, she won't load in Australia either.
  9. I found understanding the game of chess gives me more insight. Hypothetically my HQ units use flares it is the excuse I use to cancel artillery strikes. I play on Iron for the reason I know at what distance I am likely to be spotted. Infantry are the pawns and they spot German armor. Engage 3 JS2 for spotted German armor, organizing the C2 is challenging 2 radio sets for the ground forces. The Soviet armor is the key to organize the C2 that makes the tank riders are the only infantry with communication, they need to communicate with the other ground forces too. I never let armor engage without a contact icon. I am sure otherwise the German armor gets in the first hit. Leave me in the dark my game is progressing. The Queen represents the C2 it enables me to strike anywhere on the battle field, the King represents the morale of my units, every time you become nervous or rattled the enemy checked me. If it happens often enough it becomes checkmate aka surrender.
  10. I never patched anything, once in a while I just do a fresh download and install. To patch something, I suppose you download the patch in the data folder. Anything else I need to do, or I got it wrong? Assistance will be appreciated.
  11. If something doesn't work, you try something different. It depends or you play the AI or a human player. The real bingo moment is when your recon hits an AI trigger. It is obvious when all of a sudden things start to happen. Hunting is not really for scouting vehicles; I gave up hunting with them a long time ago. One on overwatch the other dashing across it takes the TacAI some time to react. Experiment with tactics. Suggestions take a long time to process with the testers. Just sharing my experiences, take notice of YT videos experienced players make some good stuff. @Josey Wales and Armchair General presents Combat Mission Normandy Tactics Episode V - YouTube
  12. Command and Control. At present it is just the radio, and we have HQ units which can call in artillery without a radio. Since communication without a channel is not possible, I suggest we will be less cryptic about it. With F&R I suggest some protocol. FO calls in a fire mission and assigns the fire mission to Lt Ivan at reference such and such. Lt Ivan spots FLAK 88mm at reference such and such and fires a flare to confirm the mission. Or at reference such and such Lt Ivan spots the 88mm abandoned and disabled. Lt Ivan doesn't fire the flare inside the allotted time, and the FO cancels the mission. Easy to make house rules playing single mode or on Hotseat at home. Little harder to play it on PBEM. The scenario designer could configure a field radio system in a scenario especially for the defender.
  13. Some Soviet snipers could be improved on. The modders could do something. I realize we are a little of topic with F&R. But females were employed in WW2 too. Give credit where it is due.
  14. The situational awareness could be far better unbuttoned, at least that's what I think. I don't know or this was the case during the timeframe of this game.
  15. For ordinary cold and lukewarm objects, the thermal radiation is mostly emitted in the infrared. Over the course of the 1950s, improvements were made to the T-10. Later models had stabilization for their main gun, heavier weapons, NBC equipment, and infra-red lights for night fighting. 6 Soviet Cold War Tanks (warhistoryonline.com) it depends what your definition of thermal is.
  16. The thermal sights on armored vehicles can detect enemy activity through darkness and smoke, conditions that limit even the best-equipped infantry. I suggest that modern Russian equipment is on par. U.S. Army Tank Doctrine (inetres.com)
  17. Yes, I don't play Shock Force too much either. F& R just hit the sweet spot. I play mostly as Soviet now to set up the C2 is doing it. In SF2 anybody can call in anything. With Sci Fi after 5 years in the future nobody knows what the conflict will be like.
  18. He is more effective in tank vs tank engagement if you chat about WW2. In the game to unbutton has more purposes. If the infantry has spotted enemy armor and wants to share his intel with a tank, the tank needs to be unbuttoned. The infantryman needs to be closer than 30 mtr from the tank. I would advise against unbuttoning at 300 meter. Any rifleman can take out the tank commander. What you likely to see, is the tank popping smoke and reversing and won't show up till the end of the game.
  19. It is Lure and Trap stay out of it. Secure roads if there are no alternative routes. The MP44 will lose its advantage at short ranges 30round magazines vs 60 round drum magazines.
  20. You already have that. Camera Position1 with one notch up with the mouse wheel gives you the height of the fighting compartment, a 2nd notch gives you POV of the unbuttoned commanders hatch. To plot your waypoint, select a move command move the mouse cursor to the bottom of center of the screen till your move becomes an arrow. Now slowly move up till your movetool appears again. Click to plot your waypoint.
  21. *Possible spoiler! I done a quick map recon but once I start playing this campaign I would recon a 2nd crossing point. Approach should always be negotiating terrain accessible by all units. Using the other chokepoint can only be done by brute force.
  22. With any move tool there is a little pointer, with this you must plot very precisely to get on the right tile. If you're one tile off, they just let him bleed out. In case of a wounded, I split the unit high light the wounded and make a note of the tile. Seldom do I have a problem. I look also at the morale as I have now the perception that nervous and lower morale states don't take or are reluctant to take initiatives. Since you're a tester I would appreciate your opinion. Kind regards.
  23. I thought he meant can a lightly wounded trooper render buddy aid.
  24. Yes in the modern stuff every trooper has a PDA Device and can call in anything. Now in FR no such luxury you have one FO and ?????? you have 20 JS2, ISU 154 and ISU 122 to protect him. It is a completely different game and I love it.
