  1. I suppose something like Assistant Gunner. The Yanks use too many abbreviations and us foreigners are supposed to understand them all. I thought it maybe a spelling mistake for ammo carrier. It is All Good that was the start of OK. I am sorry @Splintyyou beat me to it.
  2. 4 action squares which is 32 meters. I use Camera Position 5 to set it up with 45 seconds pause. 2 scouts take a sprint near the end of a turn. The AI is just a touch to slow to nail them but gives the position away lots of times.
  3. Pick your troops for observing and do terrain sweeps, it is like finding sharks in the ocean. You need to go in the water to find one and the more people there the less chance to be pulled under. It is a matter of mathematics with two of you the odds are from 100% down to 50%.
  4. Still, they could have had their Dinner Plate Magazine (DPM-MG) on a turret ring for the commander in combination with the SU152. The 6-pounder is not a bad AT-Gun and quick firing. Nothing beat the HE of a SU152. Must be an SU152
  5. Looks like the Schwimmwagen instead of the Kubelwagen. If they are the same but different mods? I agree it looks comical especially the guy using his binoculars.
  6. Russian wheeled maxims deploy automatically, they look archaic, but it comes in handy. I think their 45 mm AT guns do too when they are manhandled. Just in F&R I observed this. I agree with @Erwin read the manual because sometimes words have a different meaning than in the dictionary. Like attack and assault.
  7. Something to put on the wish list. Once an ATG has fired you can't hide it, so the 'Hide Option' is meaningless. Say a limit of 25 meters would be reasonable before it is considered that the gun is abandoned.
  8. Alloys (lead, tin and antimony). For casting bullets, I have not done any since 1990. Not very good for your health.
  9. This could be solved by the 'Hide Command'. It would mean the crew temporarily leaves the immediate vicinity of their gun to seek shelter. They would return by 'Unhiding'. Needs a slight change in the coding. Or the developers could look at dispersing, the intention would be to rejoin.
  10. They only stop when they receive a contact icon, bullets go whistling by and blissfully ignore them. It works both ways, the enemy snipes away at infantry and blissfully ignore the five AFVs covering him.
  11. You read the script naturally as they are your orders. But in a scenario? Use it or you lose it, is my motto. I conserve the life of my troops and artillery makes life a lot easier. You must understand the beast it looks impressive, but a heavy barrage is an overkill. I go for light on long on areas I want to deny to the enemy. I never use artillery alone, always with other units. Different players different methods.
  12. Suppose you mean the 7.92 Mauser round. The AP round had a core of tungsten carbide. Scarce and expensive I can't imagine it was for standard machine gun use. It would chamber Halftracks had to protect themselves against allied light AFVs
  13. Be prepared, LOS with suspected positions? Call out your available mortar. Canceling a mission is easy, to wait for one when your troops are shot and blown to pieces is frustrating. Scout or probe the area of your strike and adjust or cancel when necessary. Trust the intel in the beginning of the game. You can strike anywhere later it takes a long time. Won a game with 50 or 60 105 mm HE left? I never do they are gone.
  14. Like this? I show you the magic of the reversed slope combined with the C2 Network. This is their intel a German position in the bocage. Note the 60 mm mortar shares the radio of the Sherman. You get this by unbuttoning the Sherman Tank. The HQ Sherman won't sit idle he will participate in the attack and will arrange a barrage when he is attacking. The first squad of US mobile infantry is not the platoon HQ but he has a radio. He uses the M4 Sherman as the channel between himself and his 60 mm mortar. Because of the US control and command I rate their units the highest in WW2 Splitting units is useful and the reversed slope is a good tactical position. Happy gaming.
  15. If I could travel back I would be a trader in stocks and shares and bet on horses.
  16. German troops were in retreat, a wounded German soldier entered Tandy's line of fire. “I took aim but couldn’t shoot a wounded man,” Tandey remembered, “so I let him go.” The German soldier nodded in thanks and disappeared. The theory is he spared Hitler's life. British soldier allegedly spares the life of an injured Adolf Hitler - HISTORY
  17. Keep on dreaming it was only the excuse they needed. They would have found a different excuse. Christianity imploded, Orthodox Christianity, Catholic Christianity, Protestant Christianity, Church of England thrown in decided not to turn the other cheek and 30 years later 80 million killed. Nationalism ruled it started with the La Marseillaise during the Napoleonic age and everybody followed suit. It reigns till the present day.
  18. At the bottom of the reverse slope the ridge is your aimpoint. Choose your terrain with care, ridges have saddles positions for observers and MG's. A shame but in RL MG's have sights to plot a beaten zone from just behind a ridge in the game I assign some mortars to their HQ for that reason. HQ's don't need a radio to plot indirect fire from mortars how they do it don't ask me it is part of the game.
  19. You forget about the 300000 well equipped rested troops in Norway because of Hitlers perceived threat of the iron ore in Sweden. Norway was not the only country. After El Alamein and Stalingrad, it was game over. The oil in the middle east and the oil in the Caucasus was forever lost. The Americans and Germans had radios and the US had the best in the business. The Soviets in this game Regimental level and armored units. Their solution tank-riders which need to get up close once they lose their C2 and are only aware of the intent of their HQ. For the Germans it is a David vs Goliath struggle. Optics and the quick firing 75mm L 70 of the panthers and Stug IV combined with the 88 mm of the Tigers and the Nashorn. Last but not least the PAK75 all these systems were designed to keep their distance. The Russians lots of artillery for obscuration and suppression fast T34s with their submachinegun equipped infantry. Once it has come to city fighting it is game over for the Germans as they can't afford the attrition. The MP44 in 7.92mm Kurz was too little too late.
  20. The magic words happy you don't think like that anymore. If a unit has LOF a full contact Icon pops up. Setting way points and plotting an LOF makes sense for area fire. Like your C2 gave an armored unit a contact icon in a house. Which a nearby infantry unit had a full contact with and is engaging. Now shooting the house into a rubble makes sense. It is what the game is all about let the TacAI play the game for you and don't replace the C2 structure with your PC. If your unit receives a greater threat, it can override your orders. It shoots because it sees an enemy unit and nothing inside your target-arc.
  21. Seelow a Screenshot before the Battle. Edited the Screenshot in Affinity Photo at least as good as Photoshop.
  22. Playing US WW2 You can make an Assault Party combined with a party for overwatch armed with a BAR, .30 Browning machinegun, accredited Marksman and a guy with the rifle grenades. The Assault party has 15 hand grenades. The combinations are endless.
  23. Depends on the situation, you receive fire, and your fire power is LMG. Split his team away and see or he has a LOS for area fire, Riflemen weapons free with bolt rifles, submachine gunners to close. Houses, scouts on the top-floor fireteam on the bottom. US squads can split up over three different buildings.
