  1. As often in the army which finds their tradition from the Middle Ages depending on the weapon regiment and rank there are great variations in the uniform. to have something realistic without multiplying the models there are some tricks

The "capotes" (coat) has "concealment flap" which hides the numbers of the regiments

the kepi are covered with a cover9cww.jpg

  2. A section in the French army of 1940 is composed as follows:
a section chief; lieutenant or second lieutenant or adjutant
armed with a gun - revolver
    a deputy: sergeant
a corporal VB with a grenade launcher
    a signal officer with rifle
    infantryman with rifle
    plus 3 combat group/ squad
    composed like this
a squad leader sergeant with rifle
    a deputy (corporal) with rifle
    an FM shooter with 24/29
    a loader man with gun
      3 outfitters with rifle
    4 outfielder with rifle
a VB shooter with a grenade launcher

    Close Combat

    crazy pictures
What interests me the most is to see at least one of these comrades holed up in the shelter frozen in fear
The attack at this point fails only by one who "pête les plombs"
It reminds me of reports that in a combat group there is one or two only that shoots and faces the attack
    fascinating your pictures !!!

I came up with a simple test that I think proves that the position of the TC matters a lot and thereby that the 3d model for infantry/TC is also the hitbox. I went back to @kohlenklau's fixes for FI and used the Firefly one. Unmodded the TC was barely visible and if my hypothesis was right, he would be impossible to hit with rifle-fire. I put 10 Fireflies at 50 m range from sniper and scout units (submachine guns). I ran the test with modded and unmodded. The unmodded variant suffered no casualties in one turn. What would be an easy target. With the modded visible TCs, they suffered 5 casualties in 7 seconds. So I don't think much more testing is needed.

It would now be interesting to see what else can be modded in Blender. Can optics be blocked? Can the breach to the gun be blocked. Can armor be made full of holes?

Back to my earlier statement about if this makes cheating in PBEMs possible - it seems like it might be (unfortunately) but that needs to be tested as well.

    very interesting
In the test you performed @kohlenklau took an existing position in a version of cm to replace. Except it is possible that it is coded like this (I say this but I have no idea how to comment it works)
The ultimate test would be to use a fully cloaked, lowered tank leader modified in Blender to see if he is under fire or not

  5. very sad news
I had noticed his absence, especially as a tank enthusiast he would inevitably have commented on and identified the tanks in action in the Ukrainian conflict. He had already disappeared for more than 2 months in 2020 I had sent him a message but did not tell me answered. I think it was not in his character to complain
In any case it is enough to see this post to realize that we miss it.

    RIP

  6. Great Jm
have you solved the pb of the movement?
About the camouflage of helmets in Normandy, in the majority of cases:
the ss rarely use foliage on the helmet covers despite the loops provided for this purpose
the wehrmacht more depending on the units, the example of anti-tank and excellent
the luft and in particular the flak used very heavily
On the side of the allies it is the burlap which is used in particular by the US para
and all British and Canadian infantry
I think you should use the same foliage relief as on the German helmets but with a green and brown burlap texture
    Great
ha and the us bandages of para in relief as well as the glasses on the us tank helmets
    c'est infini
    bravo pour ta tenacité

  7. I will test this mod.
I already use the lowered reload mod for cmNormandie which seems useful in hurdles.
Whatever happens I find it aesthetically better than vanilla
it always seems strange to me to see the heads protruding under fire and the shooter standing behind his shield while there are incoming shots is disturbing
in the unbuttoned position it seems more realistic to me too, it seems to me that the bren carrier is already using this original position
you should ask @Drifter Man to rate your mod this guy did a great job!!!
For the aesthetics I also use the mod de @Frenchy56 shooter mg 42 34 with the hand on the butt there is a small defect sometimes with the flame which appears higher but honestly in games you do not notice it
