BF has a team of two.  If you see an item you "think" is an issue who's job is it to try and see if it is reproducible? It isn't mine I know that much.  I might be willing to help, but it ain't my job.  If you think Steve or Charles are gonna drop everything for a perceived issue.. well you are entitled to dream.  That leaves...….

I don't play in anything except Iron Mode. It does a better job of letting the player know what's going on.

    MINUTE 2
Still no contact... it might be a little while until that happens so be patient.  My philosophy is to generally not plan until I have some data on the enemy.. right now I have nothing.  This initial reconnaissance phase can really help when it comes time to throw in the works.
On my far left, 2nd Platoon is getting to their initial positions.  1st Squad and the Platoon HQ is moving up quickly...

2nd Squad and 3rd Squad have dismounted and are moving to their ridges as Dismounted Recon Teams (DRT).

In the 1st Platoon AO, they continue to move carefully forward, the infantry is staggering their movement and taking listening halts for 15-30 seconds at each waypoint.  The A Company infantry support tanks and the Platoon BMPs (except for one) are also staying close behind the infantry squads.
Next turn the T-62M will creep forward, peek over the ridge (hopefully masked from the rest of the map) and take a few shots at the top floor of the large building on the objective... then it will back off.  With this movement, I am just trying to force some movement from Ian.  Note on the far right that I have a dismounted team climbing the ridge at the map edge in order to look down into the objective.

Also looking down on the objective is one AT-13 Team.... many eyes from many different angles is key to successfully getting spots on enemy units or vehicles.

Heck I'd take H2H campaigns playable via PBEM even.

They're funny but can we keep politics out of this SF2 thread?
Not identifing with any political spectrum, just rather not see the bad Habits from CMBS seeping over here...
I'd much prefer to see Ian's dispositions!

    Muy Excellente!
To warn you both - this scenario is pretty unfair to UKR.
But, if you're mobile and remember your prime objective then you can still succeed.

Just a couple of screenshots.  The crossing continues, and is beginning to look a bit more organized.  I've been somewhat attrited, but in the next few minutes I should be able to dump a reinforced company across the river.

Supporting fire from the riverbank lays into a Ukrainian trenchwork blocking the railway access.  Staccato autocannon shots burst around an SPG-9 emplaced in the fortification.

A view from the railroad bridge at the BTRs as they cross the river.

Yes, I agree with you. A good commander needs a balance of the two attributes. Both Patton and Chesty Puller were hard charging, aggressive commanders who got the job done no matter the cost. Fortunately, they were balanced by their own superiors who were more measured.
I love CMSF now. Unfortunately, a MacOS update a year ago broke my ability to play my Mac CMSF with all the modules. Even Steve couldn't fix it. Fortunately, I still had my original install disks for the PC version of CMSF and Marines that I installed in Boot Camp. I'm super excited to be able to play on the Mac side again. I would caution new players of the Marines that they should not (must not) play them as they would play the U.S. Army. You should consider Marines as heavy infantry shock troops. Each Marine platoon has the equivalent of an additional Army squad. That means that a Marine company has the equivalent of an additional Army platoon! Also, while the AAV is lightly armored, don't try to use it as an AFV. Your Marines will die. We didn't have the LAV when I was in, so I know nothing about it.
I'd love to see a combined campaign in which we use Marine Amphibious Assault to take a beach or port, followed by turning it over to the Army, which then continues the assault until the campaign needs another amphibious assault. In other words, using Marines and Army in the manner they were meant to be used. Something like the battle for Guadalcanal.

He was on as of a few hours ago. I lean more toward Ken’s view that in his rage he has embedded some keys in his hands and is unable to type for the moment.
Baneman “Alexa call Bil. . . . . A whole lot of nasty names. “
Alexa “I have an assortment of names you have previously called Bil.......”

Personally, I think it is likely that he smashed his keyboard after that last turn you posted and has been unable to post anything since. (Not just because of the broken keyboard, but because of the keys embedded in the fleshy parts of his hands.)

The OPs post screams "learn to play" so loud that my ears are bleeding. Whatever meaningful points and observations he acutally manages to raise are drowned out by his ramblings consisting of opinions disgused as fact, influenced by a complete failure (or will) to understand even basic premises behind the design philosophy of the CM2-series, nor the subject matter covered by CM:BS. Waste of space.

I am not sure they would agree with you. While similar to some degree, there are enough differences to appeal to a slightly different core audience. I for example have not and likely will never buy their games.  Not that they are bad, they just don’t appeal to me. I expect there are some graviteam fans that feel the same way about CM. There is for sure overlap, but that holds true for quite a few other games as well.

Now THAT is a killer point, for me. I'm a  MOUT/FISH aficionado ref modern combat, so having that kind of flexibility in-game is very very attractive.

Where's Come And See? Horrifying, amazing and incredible that it got made in the first place. Plus, as a Tv/film crew, I can tell that the actual shooting must have been just. ****ing. Awful.

True that. In CMBS, as RUS v US I've found myself setting about 10-15% of points aside for Surveillance - Air, UAVs. I find mixed terrain (open + towns/villages) As the most dangerous, vis a vis javs.
Which is exactly where Baneman finds himself.

Not applicable to Shock Force, but the combination of discretion before valour, drones and precision artillery strikes has worked for me quite well, as long as my opponent gets a bit lazy and doesn't have his Jav teams changing position frequently.

Thanks Vin.  No air in this game, decided against it at the beginning to make it more about maneuver and tactical finesse.  Air has a way of skewing the results... much like Javs.
A properly commanded platoon with Javelins could indeed stop an enemy formation in its tracks.  It is important to take away the most obvious firing positions with smoke, artillery fire, or better, by quickly closing and disgorging dismounted infantry to clear them (which is why I am so concerned with the missing Warrior platoon that was last seen quickly closing on my ridge).
Also using some finesse with your armor to minimize their exposure and reduce any spotting chances a unit armed with a Javelin has is ideal.  The Challenger that was taken out this turn had not moved far from where my Abrams put a round into its turret.  And it definitely was not hulldown.  Can't put that loss for Baneman down solely to me using a "super weapon".
Also in this last turn six vehicles were destroyed, and only two of those lost were from Javs.  So they are hardly dominating the battlefield at this point..  of course I only have two teams in action at the moment... I have MANY more in reserve.  So they may dominate the battlefield eventually.
