  1. See Mr. Burke, what you fail to understand is that if a vehicle exists, and its in the military, it has to be a tank. Its a simple concept; army vehicles go boom boom with big guns. Trying to apply any logic or reason to this simple equation just gives everyone a headache. And remember, the Bradley is such a good IFV, why not have a knock off version of it rolling around? Seriously though: Fetishizing some of the worst armored vehicles ever made to justify making the Stryker worse to be like them. Now this, Mr. Burke, is how its done.
  2. Go ahead and add me to that list. All of this sounds fantastic. I'm very surprised that the CMRT module is as far along as it is. Very excited for winter conditions on the Eastern Front, as well as expanded German forces. This is excellent news! 2018 is looking like a great year for CM.
  3. Being able to blow up bridges is not a new feature. You can destroy bridges with artillery and air strikes in all CM titles that have bridges in them. You can also destroy them with direct fire from tanks and IFVs, but anything larger than a wooden footbridge would take a very long time to destroy via tank. Being able to destroy bridges with IEDs gives the player some more direct control over destroying the bridge with hand placed explosives (controlled detonation) but its really nothing new. I don't think this'll impact gameplay any more than IEDs have in the past. Plus, remember that CMSF2 will have amphibious vehicles available, and both the Syrians and NATO forces have amphibious capable vehicles, so there are ways to mitigate a destroyed bridge.
  4. There's a whole playlist by Usually Hapless. Same with Krause. There are others but these two channels immediately came to mind.
  5. If anyone ever wonders why there aren't more bones, here is the reason. No good deed goes unpunished, especially on the internet.
  6. Anecdotal evidence isn’t. (Spelled out, that reads; “Anecdotal evidence IS NOT evidence.” As in it is not valid) For every example one gives about a Panthers gun being knocked out, or a lucky round penetrating the frontal armor, I can find two other examples of everything going completely right for a Panther, or any tank. As to crew panic, late in the war a lot of German tanks were soft killed. As in, they were hit with non penetrating rounds that caused the crew to panic and bail. They bailed out because they were inexperienced and didn’t know any better. CM does an exceptional job of simulating this, and morale in general. @c3k hit the nail on the head about ATG set up. It’s a whole lot more complicated than just pointing the gun in the right direction. And even that is easier said than done. There is a reason most modern armies abandoned the ATG promptly after WWII ended. (PS, always a +1 from me for mentioning CM Fulda Gap!)
  7. The only thing that irks me about ATGs in game is that once abandoned, the crew can not re-man the gun. I'm sure there is a valid reason why this is the case though. Everything else in the posted rant is either wrong, or an extreme exception of the regular. CM isn't perfect, but honestly, does anything else come close? In my opinion, no.
  8. Screenshots and news all look/sound great! Very much looking forward to everything.
  9. @Combatintman thanks for the reply. I'll give it a go when I have some time to sit down and riddle it all out and see if I can get anything to work. Otherwise I think my best bet will be to wait for CMSF2 to remake the map, and just use the overlay feature in the editor.
  10. This was legitimately spectacular. @Mord thanks for supplying a hearty amount of laugh and cheer. Merry Christmas and happy holidays all!
  11. Wow! Really impressive that they were able to get the entire Belorussian military in one photo!
  12. @MOS:96B2P thanks for the info! Very much hoping for a bone in the very near future. Either way I'm sure we'll be hearing something about CMSF2 soon.
  13. The result of the better half of a company getting caught in the open by a mortar barrage during a real time mulitplayer match: Hans was not thrilled witnessing the carnage of his sister company: A menacing German defensive position, somewhere in the Ardennes: American infantry overlooking said defense: Finally a personal favorite of mine, US Airborne defending their OP from attack, somewhere in Normandy:
  14. As I've said before, it really comes down to what theater/era of warfare interests you the most. CMBN was one of the last titles I bought because for a while I just wasn't as interested in the battle for Normandy as I was with the other theaters CM offered. As for CMSF2, I'm hoping we get some kind of new information about it in the coming weeks, and hopefully its released in the next few months. If it were me, I would probably buy a game now and expect CMSF2 to not be out for at least another month, maybe more. Same issue here. Hoping I'm wrong about CMSF2 and that it comes out much sooner rather than later, thus solving my problem. Is it possible to gift the games? I've never tried it myself. Is there a way to do it other than sharing a license key, a more official way?
  15. Just a thought, but would it be possible to mod the UI of the game to show these figures? For example, instead of saying "Light" in the artillery dialogue, could it say "2-4 RPM" or something like that? Not sure if its as easy as making some new artwork, or if string text files need to be edited. Could be a useful mod though.
  16. Has anyone tried porting CMSF maps, or maps to CMSF? I made a map for CMFB I'm rather proud of that I want to remake in CMSF for a scenario idea I have, but if its possible I would like to save myself a lot of time and just port it from CMFB to CMSF. Anyone know if this is possible? I haven't tried porting maps before, so any instructions on how to do it if possible would be appreciated.
  17. You're confusing the tactical layer with the operational layer. In CM, all of the planning you are talking about happens before the battle, thus allowing the battle to happen. The briefing is a summary of this.
  18. Steve already confirmed this is being worked on and a fix will be released in the next patch. This is already in game. If a soldier performing buddy aid gets shot at, he will stop and go prone. Further if there is a known enemy within 80 meters (I think its 80 meters, but if I'm off someone feel free to correct) no one will perform buddy aid due to the spotted enemy in close proximity. Definitely agree with this.
  19. Try this mod: http://cmmodsiii.greenasjade.net/?p=2012 Note, it works for all CM titles.
  20. Ahh ok. Doesn't take away from the experience at all. I was just curious if I was missing some parts from the modpack. Thanks for clearing that up. I definitely appreciate the narrative approach to the campaign. Especially when its all tied together in the final mission. I was just over eager to get to the snowy missions
  21. Well I can say with confidence that you have made a tough campaign. I've played all the missions but the very last one, and all of them gave me a run for my money. My biggest issue always came down to a time crunch. I'm interested to know what others think of the first mission. For me, it felt a bit too difficult for what I viewed as a prequel/intro to the main campaign. There are a whole lot of Germans in that village. I think my favorite mission was the second one. Really good mix of attacking and defending, room to maneuver, and more than a few nail biting moments. Also a quick question on the modpack; where are the Mord portraits? You list them as being part of the modpack, but they aren't actually there. I figured it might just be a simple case of copy/pasting from previous campaigns mod lists but I thought I would ask anyways. All in all I think this is another great campaign! Its release was also very timely, and I'm glad that CMFB has gotten some more much needed community attention!
  22. They aren't being scrapped because they're ineffective. They're being scrapped because they're a one use vehicle for a specific instance. Off the top of my head, these numbers seem about right to me.
