  1. Good, for people unfamiliar with Villers-Bocage. But, a decidedly amateurish production. You have to wonder who thought it would be a good idea to have the Patreon ad cut in mid-commentary.
  2. Thank you for putting me right on that one. Slightly off topic. We visited a National Trust property yesterday. They had an Edisonophone, so I asked the guide if she would play something. She obliged by putting on some ragtime. I then had to explain to both her, and my girlfriend how the wax cylinders were recorded. Meanwhile back to the first mission. My Canucks didn't sound "British", they sounded like they came from the wrong side of the pond, just as they should do.
  3. That is very true. At 400-odd years old I'm even older than the UK. Of course, Erwin fails to grasp both the history (and the humour) behind my comment. "Brits" fought in late 20th century Ireland, they have fought in the middle east in this century, and of course give, their name to an award for ****e electronic dance music. And the word is fine when talking about BFCs modern titles. Downfall is a WW2 title and the word is out of place. Granddad Paddy was born in County Meath, and fought all through the war (except when consuming vast quantities of the black stuff in the NAAFI). He was a Limey, but he could never be a "Brit". My USatian girlfriend can grasp this concept, and she has only lived in Limeyland for 7 years. As for filling out forms which demand our nationality, I'm miffed if I don't get the option "Anglo-Irish".
  4. Oh, dear. There are no "Brits" in this campaign. You begin with the Canucks, and then go on to fight as the Jocks. If you must use a collective to describe members of the British Army in WW2 then use "Limeys".
  5. Once the white flag appears they can't "unsurrender". And if you are playing turn-based they will disappear either in that turn, or the next.
  6. My reason for suggesting you try @Bootie was down to the lack of Designer Notes, and authors name in the briefing. Like yourself I found the map a bit flat and feature less. Okey, back to the Reichwswald.
  7. It might be due to the size. When I looked at it earlier it did seem to stick on 98% for quite a while when loading. I doubt I'll actually be playing it anytime soon, too busy with real life, and Downfall at the moment.
  8. It does say. Or at least, it does in the Market-Garden Manual (near the bottom of page 42). And yes, it does give the range as "up to 6,800 m". I suspect that that is the range when firing HE indirectly, rather than when attempting to tank on enemy armour directly.
  9. Mission 4 - Reichswald. "If you go down in the woods today, you'd better be on the lookout for Jerry AA guns". As Henry Hall often sang.
  10. Perhaps the OP might like to fix his Caps Lock.
  11. "Verdammte Jocks. Ich bin hier raus!"... A rare moment of joy for me in the slug which mission 3 turned into.
  12. Funny you should say that, a mate of mine had a Milk Snatcher toilet roll holder. The paper came out of her mouth. I wish they still made them.
  13. Of course, back in '81. It was still the Five Nation's Championship. France beat England at Twickenham. The Milk Snatcher was on the throne, and I still had enough hair to "Spike".
  14. It is disappointing to find out that you have encountered the infamous bridge bug during this mission. Although sadly it comes as no surprise. It will still be quite some time before I take on the "Spearhead", and knowing my old noddle I will have forgotten about this post.
  15. I still refer to the site by the old name.
  16. No. When I buy a game I just create word documents for both the campaigns, and the battles. If I then find something on Green as jade that interests me I can just insert into my list. Back in the days of CM1 I kept everything in a note pad.
  17. Of course, those two weren't the only ones to kill tigers. Bungalow Bill did it as well, according to Johnnie Lenin and the Bolshevik Beat Boys. Anyway back the campaign. It is a tough one, but I enjoyed it.
  18. I've always played chronologically ever since Beyond Overlord.
  19. Lizzie Saxe-Coburg und Gotha and Phil the Greek enjoyed killing tigers.
  20. "give me a poke". It's lucky that Frankie Howerd's ghost doesn't play CM
  21. It's called "The Bridge". And I think that we all know which bridge it refers to.
  22. Time to hit the "Ignore" button on this one.
  23. As has been explained to you above. You can't use a panzerfaust on a tank that is outside of the faust's range. Have you actually read the manual?
