  1. He did a decent job as Minister of Defence (a post he created himself) once he had Alan Brooke to hold his hand. Whilst, Atlee, Morrison, and Ernie Bevin ran the country, something the voters clocked onto. In the meantime I'm off to play "Neues Reichskanzlei" my (very slight) reworking of Mr. Pye's recent offering.
  2. "I don't know much about Limey politics Mr. Churchill but all of your troops that I've spoken to are voting for the one with the pipe."
  3. I thought he was going to burst into "What a wonderful world". Which was probably the worst thing Satchmo ever did.
  4. A great series of photos. I think that it is safe to say that if any Panther had attempted to cross that bridge it would have ended up face down in the water.
  5. Sorry, I'm watching Canned Heat at Woodstock at the mo. I'll come back to this, promise.
  6. Yeah, I think overall the way you have littered the streets with debris and knocked out vehicles looks great. I certainly won't be editing it much more than the private cars.
  7. Hopefully it will more accurate than "Poxy Bleeders", although I very much doubt it.
  8. Finally got around to downloading the Berlin mod. It does look good. But I will be editing out many of the civilian cars. The amount might be in keeping with 1939, but not 1945.
  9. "Don't shoot. One day Aunty will make a telly show about you blokes."
  10. Yeah I'm not sure how our "toy town" would have fared had it found itself in the front line. Taking the eastern end of the bridge parapet away to give our boys in the Westborough a clear shot at Gerry might not have been enough.
  11. What you can see "up" in the background is a church. Below it is a palace which Henry the Gross stole off of the one true and apostolic church in the 1500's. I don't think PC Plod's wages would have stretched to renting it. Sadly, the warehouses in the left foreground were destroyed in the name of progress in 1959. Interestingly the moveable tank traps that would have filled the gap that the car is going through lay alongside the bridge until the late 1970's.
  12. Sadly, Prez drank himself to death before LSD became the drug of choice amongst longhairs.
  13. P.C. Plod - My tank traps look better than yours.
  14. No, this is what "jazzy" looks like...
  15. I remember as a somewhat innocent teen hearing my old dad shout "Helmet" at one of the blokes who played in the football team that he ran, whilst he walked through town minding his own business. Me - Why did you call J***** "Helmet"? Him - Cuz 'es a K*** Head. Ah, the joys of a puritan upbringing.
  16. Bud Flanagan's trilby is hanging up in one of those trees.
  17. You seem to be forgetting that a US 57mm ATgun has a six-man crew, and the Jeep only has five passenger seats. Therefore, in order to tow the gun you need to dismount the driver of the Jeep. Also keep in mind that you will need a second Jeep if you want to move the AT ammo bearers.
  18. He was in ENSA during the war. But I doubt if he was armed with a stencil.
  19. According to the Bundesarchiv, the original entry in 9. Panzer's official history read. "Fick! Crommers konnen jetzt fliegen". Allegedly.
  20. I've always loved this photo. Nervous bipeds, whist the cow just carries on munching.
  21. I do have a "Wyvern" yt video queued up in my "Watch Later" list. Not sure if it is the same one.
  22. "Rear area" doesn't give us much to go on, so it is hard to say. The Wyverns led off Bluecoat in the XXX Corps sector. I don't how thinly 654 was spread during that battle and whether or not they came up against them as well as 15th Scottish and their Guards support. It might just be that it was towed into their rear area after the fighting had moved on.
  23. I'm really interested in the Jadpanther that has had a wyvern painted on it. To my old eyes that looks like a slightly different design to one used by 43rd (Wessex) during the war, which became the official insignia in 1935. Perhaps an old sweat made a stencil himself or found an old one knocking about at some stage.
  24. @Lucky_Strike Thanks for posting these. A fascinating series of photos.
