  1. I believe I read somewhere on the forum that it will be digital download only. That might be only for the upgrade though. I seem to remember Steve saying that was how they would keep he cost down.
  2. I bought my base CMSF on PC disk from paradox. I also bought the Marines module on disk on the BFC site. My base CMSF key isn't on my BFC account page, but Marines is. I've since loaded both the base CMSF and Marines from their disks, and used the Marines key from my BFC account to license the game, so it works without the CMSF key. Fortunately, I later bought the CMSF "Big Package" for my Mac, and I will be able to use that license to install the CMSF2 Big Module on both my Mac and my PC. just relax and dream about the CMSF2 release!
  3. Awesome video! You can really tell the difference between the 7.62 and 5.56mm machine guns. I had an M60 machine gun squad in my weapons Section, and you never forget the sound of those 60s. Do the Donovians ever win?
  4. @citizen, for the WWII families, the formations, equipment, and vehicles evolve and change as the years progress. CMFI begins with Operation Husky in Sicily so you have the standard operating procedures (SOP) learned in North Africa. CMFI's module Gustav Line begins after the invasion of Italy, and I believe the formations evolve to include lessons learned during Operation Husky. CMBN takes place just after June 6, 1944, and incorporates formation changes resulting from lessons learned in Sicily and Italy. The. Vehicles are later models than those in CMFI. The formations and vehicles evolve through the CMBN module Market Garden (MG) (you also need the Commonwealth (CW) module to fully play CMBN and MG). CMRT is the Eastern Front in 1944. Soviet and German formations and vehicles. CMFB is late Western Europe through the Battle of the Bulge and into Germany with formations and vehicles evolving from lessons learned during the Battle for Normandy and Market Garden. I hope this helps to give you a sense of the different Families and how subtly different each is. I Started with CMFI + GL and worked my way through time.
  5. When asked by my manager at work why I laughed so much, I told her "You need to act your shoe size instead of your age. You'll have a lot more fun!" It still applies.
  6. I'd have to check, but I believe most, if not all, of the mods I have for CMSF1 are terrain or building mods. I don't remember any that are specific to Army or Marine Corps units. Of course, that's all dependent on an old man's memory from more than 10-years ago.
  7. I know that GreenAsJade is running the Few Good Men repository now, but does he still have his CM repository running? That's where I got most of my CMMods.
  8. I believe that LongLeftFlank was simply using the propane explosion as an example of the progression of the fireball and how the appearance changed. I saw the report of the explosion on the evening news, so I don't believe it falls into the "gore" category.
  9. Wow! Just think of the possibilities with what we already have, think Commonwealth Operation Veritable and US Operation Grenade on the flooded Rhine. The Sturmtiger was actually used against Veritable. Cromwells, Crocodiles, DUWKs, Ram Kangaroos, Wasps, all kinds of stuff!
  10. Just beware that 10.13.xx "could" break CMSF1 if you have it installed. It broke the licensing of my CMSF Big Bundle more than a year ago, and even with Steve working his magic, it's still broken. I'm waiting patiently for CMSF2 (while playing CMSF Marines in Boot Camp).
  11. i began getting random BSOD a few weeks ago after updating Steam IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad with the two new Flying Circus airplanes. I never had a BSOD until that point. I didn't need to be using any particular program, and the time could be any where from1 hour in, to almost immediately. I used F8 on startup to select "don't check driver signatures" or something, and stopped all applications running in the background that were'nt necessary such as Process Lasso, FRAPS, Steam, Discord, and etc. the BSoDs seemed to have stopped. Using Windows Is what makes me love MacOS so much!
  12. Hope Viper just hasn't returned to post his results.
  13. Not sure if this has been asked yet, but is anyone having this issue on Windows 7? I'm not, at least not in CMSF1 Marines. Sorry, I apologize for the double post.
  14. Not sure if this has been asked yet, but is anyone having this issue on Windows 7? I'm not.
  15. But they allow so many to gloriously die for their causes!
  16. We just need some of our excellent and talented designers to create some missions with amphibious landings!
  17. I honestly feel that besides the Uncons and the asymmetry, anyone who hasn't played CMSF1 will be really surprised with the one thing that no other family or module has; Marines. Please know that you should not play the U.S. Marines the same as you play U.S. Army. They are totally different animals. If you do, I'm afraid you'll be disappointed. The current mission of the Marine Corps is as follows: "Our Mission. As America's expeditionary force in readiness since 1775, the Marines are forward deployed to win our nation's battles swiftly and aggressively in times of crisis. We fight on land, sea and air, as well as provide forces and detachments to naval ships and ground operations." When I was in, it was in part, "To seize and secure advance Naval bases." That is a bit aggressive and probably some find it offensive, ergo the new mission statement. The two statements indicate how you should play the Marines; aggressively with overwhelming force. Smashing is one of the things Marines do best.
  18. The Store page states that we can simultaneously install CMSF2 on two different computers or operating systems, i.e. one on MacOS 10.13.xx and Windows 10. Can the other families and modules (CMBN, CMFI, CMRT, CMBS, and CMFB) also be installed on two systems simultaneously? I apologize. I checked the new store games and the all say they can have two simultaneous installs. I tried to download my CMSF1 Big Bundle onto my PC side last night and got an error message that the license had expired. It didn't seem to have the big bundle modules in it, but I'll try again tonight.
  19. LOL! I spoke in jest, but thank you for your research. I'm a retired old man, so some of those "symptoms" could be difficult to differentiate. Symptom No. 3 - Old men have been known to skip showers and meals. Symptom No. 4 - Retired, so don't generally work or go to school. Symptom No. 6 - Old men tend to be easily irritated by ANYTHING!
  20. Many thanks. I'll have to do some Uncon, if for no other reason than to learn their capabilities. But that would mean forgoing my Marines. Maybe I'll just use them against the Army!
  21. Of course, my comment applies only to drill and admin formations. In the field, my Marines were the model of coordination and team work. A well-oiled machine that anticipated what was expected and just carried it out. I'm sure Splinty's squad was the same.
  22. I don't remember if IEDs are in CMSF1. I haven't encountered any during play of Stryker or Marine campaign missions, however, I haven't played any Uncons. I expect that the timing would be much the same as the "Blast" command when breaching. In fact, I expect it will be based in some way on the "Blast" command.
  23. I am simply salivating at the thought of the CMSF2 Demo, and quivering in anticipation of its release. I was just playing the second mission of the CMSF1 Marines beach head campaign last night on my PC side (I have a MacPro with Boot Camp), and every time I thought I'd just make my commands, save, and go to bed, I'd say to myself "just one more turn," and hit the GO button. Is there a "Seven-Step Program" for Combat Mission addiction?
