  1. Nope. Games where the Russians have an Armata on the battlefield will automatically be decided in favor of the Russians, no exceptions. And because it would be waste of time to actually play such a game, Battlefront decided to remove all gameplay content in the upcoming CMBS module. Yeah, it' s true, after installing the new module, you will only be able to start the game to the main menu, and if you click on any of the menus items (including options and exit), you will immedeatly be shown a screen that says "Russian Total Victory". No, i am just kidding. The truth is that your computer will explode and kill you after installing the CMBS module containing the Armata. IIRC Steve said it was too difficult to get the CMx2 engine to simulate the awesomeness of the Armata, so they will simply use CDs made of RDX instead of plastic for the Armata module. Haha, no, i am still just kidding. Here are some real Armata facts: What happens if an Armata drives through a river? The river becomes Armata! There is no such thing as global warming, just the exhaust gases of the Armatas engine. Why are there no Armata LEGOs? Because no one can take an Armata apart!
  2. Germany forces game studios already to remove Nazi flags from the localized german versions of their games. Or to be more accurate, Germany doesnt actually force the game studios to remove the flag, games containing nazi symbols are just not allowed to be sold in stores, which leads to the game studios voluntarily removing the symbols in question. It' s still possible to get uncensored games by simply buying them online from US suppliers though. According to german law, nazi symbols must not be shown in public unless for educational or documentary purposes. It' s perfectly fine to have a Nazi flag at home hanging in your bedroom, to put one on display in a history museum or to print one in a school book (given that it' s put in proper historical context).
  3. Looks like you found a bug. None of the T-90As i found via google had the glacis geometry shown in the screenshot you posted.
  4. Fascinating - is the public display of the confederate flag such a faux pas in the US? Sounds like it' s almost as bad as running around with a nazi flag in Germany.
  5. Thanks. I didnt know that either. Gone are the days i have to register a new account at imageshack everytime i upload a CM screenshot just to get free file hosting.
  6. I am in my early 20s and i grew up with 3D games with mind blowing graphics. I agree with most of your critique of CM, but what for me makes CM superior to all other 3D tactical wargames that simulate platoon to battalion sized engagements is WeGo. I really LOVE to wind back time and watch the action from many different angles. WeGo, or to be more accurate the possibility to accurately analyse each situation on the battlefield in detail, adds so much tactical depth that i find other real time wargames dull and superficial, even if they dont have the shortcomings you mentioned. I tried many other games of the same genre, but i always came back to CM. But to each his own, we don t have to have the same taste in games.
  7. The M1A2 APS is the best killing machine ever produced.
  8. This reminds of the Star Trek Voyager episode "Death Wish". The Q are a species in Star Trek that are immortal and nearly omnipotent and have existed since time began. Yet they wish for death because there is nothing to do for them anymore that they havent done already and there are no thoughts for them to think anymore that they havent thought already. It the episode, one of the Q says that he has been standing in a wheat field as a scarecorw for over 2 millenia simply because he hadnt done that yet and he wanted to experience what it' s like to be a scarecrow. Personally i am less afraid of death itself than dieing in an unpleasant way. There are really lots of nasty ways to go: cancer, accidents, murder, torture, etc. I would prefer to just peacefully fall asleep and never wake up again.

  10. That what happens? That companies intentionally develop broken games to cash off with pre-order sales as their business strategy? Really, i doubt that there are many companies doing this (if there are any at all), and as i already said, i think that the phenomenum you described is in most (if not all cases) the result of bad planning rather than intentional fraud. I also doubt that they survive very long, if such companies exist at all. Anyways i dont see any point in argueing further. You claim that there is evidence that proves me wrong, show me. What is a healthy business strategy then if it' s not one that ensures the economical survival of your company and its employees without breaking any laws? Also Battlefront has been around for about 17 years, just for the record.
  11. Regarding the case you brought forward, i think it' s (in most cases) not their busniness strategy to sell broken games via preorders - that' s just the result of their actual business strategy failing. It' s either an attempt to save what' s left of an overly ambitous project or the result of the gamestudio failing to meet a deadline set by the publisher. I assure you it would not be a sound business strategy to intentionally sell broken games via preorders. Firstaval, who, in his right mind, plans on developing a broken game in the first place? LOL! Secondly, starting a company with the intent to sell broken games via preorders would be a very short sighted plan. You maybe get away with it once, but not a second time. I know a couple of game studios that went bankrupt over releasing an alpha/beta as a full priced title, doing that is nothing you want to do.
  12. Oh no! Not another discussion about Battlefronts business strategy. They usually end in lots of quarrel, no results and Steve dropping by saying something along the lines of: "Had our strategy in the last 10 years been so bad as you claim, our company wouldnt exist anymore. So naturally we must have been doing something right. Let the market decide whether our not our business model works"..
  13. If i just designed for myself, i wouldnt write briefings, make tactical, operational, etc maps, those are things i make exclusively for others. I simply wouldnt need those, as the designer i know everything about the scenario anyways.
  14. Where did you get this information from? I get your point though. Alerts, notifications or whatever you want to call them would indeed help RT players to manage large battles. Still, there currently is no alert system, so as i said, i recommend you to play large battles in WeGo.
  15. Unless you play turnbased mode (WeGo), of course. Personally i recommend you to play WeGo when you play larger battles, after some time you will get accustomed to it and find it easier than RT.
  16. I have problems DLing the patch. I start the DL, it says usually about 50 minutes left, and after about a third of the time has passed it stops. I have attempted it at least 5 times over the past 2 weeks, and always with the same result. I also tried using a downloadmanager but, it doesnt work either, same problem. Any ideas what i should do now?
  17. Aww man, i made such a nice philosophical comment and you are making fun of it .
  18. I fully agree with you on that. I am not sure whether or not your post was a direct reply to mine because you didnt quote me, but my point was that when i get bored in the middle of making a scenario, it' s other peoples interest in my work that motivates me to keep going despite i dont really want to any more. The word "cheers" maybe was a bad choice in my previous post, i appreciate any kind of interest or reasonable feedback. Personally i am fine with the status quo. When i feel the need for feedback, i do as grunt_AI said, i come to the forum, i open a thread in the general section of the CM game i am designing the scenario for, and in no time there are 30 comments. One day we' ll all die. You will die, i will die, slysniper will die and one day our sun will die and mankind as a whole with it. And if that isnt enough, one day the universe will come to its end, and as space and time as we know them cease to exist, everything everyone will have ever done will lose its meaning as causality breaks apart. All the things we do to stay alive as an individual and as a species, like eating, drinking and having sex are hence nothing but futile attempts to delay the inevitable, though i would not want to live a single day without them, or would you? I know, i just thought that the situation had the potential for one
  19. It hadnt occured to me to ask what the definition of a partial penetration in CM terms, but now i want to know the answear too.
  20. Oh lets not start to go down the flamewar road yet please...i still have something to say on this topic, i would not be particularily happy to see it getting closed. Some time ago i wrote in this thread that i dont care about the expected cheers when i make a scenario, but i have realized in the mean time that this is only partially true. It is true that i dont think about the expected cheers when i start making a scenario. When i decide i want to make a scenario, i always start because I want to play a specific scenario and i dont even think about anyone else playing it or anybodys opinion. Sometimes i read about a battle in a history book, on Wikipedia or in the newspapers, and i think "OMG that would be the most awesome CM scenario ever created, i cant continue my life without it!", and then i start designing that scenario. But scenario design is often a lot of work, especially when you are recreating a big historical battle with an accurate map built from satelite images, and that' s where the expected cheers come into play. They are what keeps me going, even if i start getting bored during the design process. I am not threatening to stop making scenarios if i dont get feedback like umlaut, but it' s a matter of fact that a lack of feedback reduces my motivation to make big and complex battles. When i say feedback though i am not solely talking about the aforementioned "cheers", if you didnt like my scenarios, constructive critique is appreciated too.
  21. You can get CMSF + all its module really cheap if you buy them as bundle. CMSF + all 3 modules (which is a LOT of content, probably 5001000 hours of gameplay) cost 55$ in total. You buy CMSF for 15 and then the modules bundle for 40.
  22. Would a Stryker Brigade Combat Team be considered light infantry?
  23. Silent one, womble, have you considered changing the colours of your monitor? If you have a better graphics card you should be able to do so comfortably via the graphics driver UI. Other than that, modding the seat occupation indicator to your likening is probably 15 minutes work, maximum. If that' s the only thing bothering you, you could try to change it yourself, that might be quicker than waiting for BFC to patch it.
  24. Yom Kippur would be interesting - not as common as background story for a wargame as the US led post-2001 wars in the middle east.
