    That does not compute . . .
We'll know it's done when we see it available for sale.  I expect after Easter but before Memorial Day.  It's not as if I don't have any other Combat Mission games to play while waiting . .

I completely agree that signs and wonders would be nice to see.  I completely disagree that "no screenshots equals no progress".  Given that Battlefront has a very small staff and must choose between developing the game or developing work in process marketing collateral, I prefer that they focus on developing the game first and then spend post development efforts to market the game when it is ready for sale.
I don't mind that what I think doesn't matter though.  Battlefront knows better than me what's best for it's business.

I think most of the problem with tD doctrine was that by the time large numbers of the machines and the battalions equipped with them were available in the theater, the threat that they were intended to counter, i.e. large formations of attacking German armor, had gone away. Furthermore, everything that a TD could do, the newer generation of tanks could do and maybe even do it better, in addition to a few things that the TDs never did too well.

The movie just did not work for me. Banal rants about the human condition and the endless French civilian scene, felt like they were there to fill a quota. I was distracted by Brad Pitt's funny accent and the Transformer's kid's mustache. Wasn't a huge fan of the shots, either. Locations looked all the same and everything seemed to be purposefully desaturated. I appreciated the tanks but I think this movie over-thought its own premise.
I feel like this movie was a compromise designed for no-one but everyone. Not too silly to be Kelly's Heroes. Not too existentialist to be Full Metal Jacket. Not too historical to be A Bridge Too Far. Not too dramatic to be Das Boot. Usually movies of these genres rely on creative writing, directing and acting to make the viewer care, and identify with, the crew. This movie relied on star power and tank-hype (props to Bovington, though).
Mediocre film in all sense of the word. Not the worst thing you can see in the cinemas, and certainly not the best. I saw it way back when and haven't felt a need to rewatch it. Hollywood can do better, see Hacksaw Ridge (not a fan of Dunkirk, though).

This is a great site on a unit which saw more consecutive days in action (341) than any other in the Fifth Army. This is an extensive site covering pretty much everything you'd want to know about an independent tank battalion which fought its way up from the toe of the Italian boot. Wiring diagrams, personnel lists, tons of photos, route maps, battle expositions (including great material on a Tiger 1 engagment, equipment lists, honor and more grace this useful site. If you would understand the independent tank battalion, this is a fine resource.

Update... FYI - Figured it out. All fixed.
I have Windows 10 and use Microsoft Windows Defender as my antivirus. I checked and I did change a setting (folder protection) that blocked access.

Came across this and thought people here would appreciate this dazzling example in HD. Their full scale warfare demo/wargame/? makes our stateside re-enactor battles look like scripted farces by comparison. How I wish I could be there!

    I concur, despite bocage!
If "best" is defined as being the only one you could afford to buy, then CMBN offers the greatest content for dollars spent.  Each game has a particular selling point.  If that particular selling point is not decisive to you, then CMBN will keep you happily occupied for a good long time.

@John Kettler - We're talking about "fatigue" effects in the Combat Mission games, not in real life.  Your well researched references don't apply.  Hence, LukeFF's note to move past them.

I showed CM to a friend and he said "Oh, that's like Men at War". Then he showed me some videos and I thought "yeah... for grown ups".

On your first matter, to better clarify my writing, I inferred that the stories which the Americans who grew up to fight WW2 told themselves more often than not strove to inspire civic virtues much more than is done today.  To your point, the horrors of war in those particular campaigns certainly affected such sensibilities at war's ending and afterwards.  I did not reference what you may be inferring; that the United States had several blind spots regarding racism.  The 1963 film "The Victors"  more actively explores those points https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Victors_(film)
On your second matter, WW2 Americans profoundly hated Imperial Japan and were unwavering in hostility to Nazi Germany.  (Recall that Der Fuhrer declared war against the United States).  For SPR to omit and ignore such sentiment would be dishonest story telling.  Those American sentiments would subsequently change to the better for which I personally am grateful.

"Fury" is nihilistic.  "Saving Private Ryan" is noble.  The stories Hollywood films and national radio told to the men and women who grew up during Depression and fought the Second World War strike me as usually virtuous and inspirational.  The stories Hollywood tells today are mostly cynical and dystopian.  "Fury" was far less a film than it could have been.

If someone cannot see for themselves that the game is worth the money, I am not going to waste my time trying to change their mind.
For myself, I have never regretted any purchase of BF games.
I wish I could say that for other games and items I have spent money on.

We agree, Ian. I was just trying to say that sometimes, focusing on whether someone is rude or not can be a red herring. I think what Pericles showed was interesting - and I also would be disappointed if I saw that bunching up behaviour in my game. But, here's the interesting part - I never saw that happen. Never.
And regular readers will know I'm probably the biggest stickler for details on the forum. Yet I never saw that problem happen. So I'm thinking it's not about how the game TacAI works, but an issue with the way the AI plan was put together for this particular scenario.
    Let's calmly discuss that

Agreed.  Yet Scenario Design remains an arcane art.  There are several very experienced designers who are very good at scenario design.  Maybe someday, an articulate, analytical, well qualified freelance writer could produce a BFC vetted scenario design document, much like Jon Sowden's "The Sheriff of Oosterbeek" design DAR/AAR with greater focus on programming the AI which might also incorporate the tips and tricks learned by the wizards of this craft.

As @MikeyD and @IICptMillerII suggest, I think there are other areas where coding efforts can much better enhance the game.

Well, with the holidays and then some 3 weeks of subzero temps, I was set back for a bit. It was so friggin' cold in my place I couldn't sit in my little kitchen where my computer is. Probably best I take it slow any way. The last couple times I've done these mods it really burned me out. But I did manage to whack out 276 portraits today (about 8 hours worth of modding). Percentage wise it's low, but work is continuing. Tomorrow is my B-day so I may take that off, don't know yet. Here's a peak at some of what is done.
