    Quite right!  And you should have known better before doing it!!
    (We appear to share the same experiences . . . 😱)
    So, Battlefront, please continue developing your games as you see best.  They don't call your customers "Grognards" without reason . . .

    This should be cheched into by the devs I suppose. CM's screenshot was taken while another game was being disscussed:

    Unless BF are secretly working with MOD / Dstl.... might explain some of the delays. 😉

    I play the game with average 60 fps sometimes dropping to 35 fps. I also can use reshade crazy like hell without any losses of fps.
    My settings are:
    3D Model Quality: Balanced (thats important!)
    3D Texture Quality: Best
    Antialiasing and V-Sync on in the game settings
    I found that the nvidia settings are critical too for a good performance. When I use my graphic card settings for Antialiasing or Supersampling etc, then I lose about 20 fps. All my games have these settings (others not mentioned are default):
    Anisotropic Filtering: 16x
    OPGL Rendering: My graphic card
    Power Management Mode: Maximum
    Texture Filtering: High Quality
    Lod Bias: Clamp
    Trilinear Optimization: On
    Vertical Synchronization: fast
    My System: i7-8700k, 16GB RAM, GTX 1080 TI, SSD Drive, Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit

    I have been getting this issue for a while too. A week ago I found a thread on the forum which advised me to change my nvidia profile. It seemed to work at first, but didn't in the end. Yesterday I changed my profile again and specifically changed the 'pre-rendered frames' to '4', texture to 'quality' instead of 'high quality', and made sure MFAA was off. I can't remember who posted the profile, but credits to him.
    Until my change yesterday I was able to reproduce the crash in the sense that it happened quite often, see below. Since I changed my profile, no more crashes have ocurred. I really tried to make it crash.

    System:
    * I7-7700K (msi z270)
    * Nvidia GTX 1080 with GSYNC monitor 2560x1440 @165hz (hence no vsync)
    * 16GB DDR4
    * SSD Samsung EVO 960
    * 3TB Toshiba SATA for (win10) /users/documents etc (so CMx2 game files are on SATA disk)
    * Latest NVIDIA Drivers: 398.82
    EDIT:
    I have experienced the crashes both with WEGO and RT. After my latest change I have approx played an hour of RT and 2 hours WEGO. The latter with a lot of alt tabbing, and both with some extensive clicking (except for the scenario loading screen, I left that alone). So far it survived. I wanted to share this before I leave my game for a couple of weeks and forget about the whole issue.
    In game settings: everything maxed and shadows & shaders on.

    I'm playing 'Debaltseve Devils' scenario now. Performance feels great, although fps is all over the place from 15 till over 100. I guess because of the GSYNC I don't notice the changes too much.
    @Schrullenhaft fyi sir 😇.

    1. Regarding the 'low trees detail' setting. If what it's meant to do is de-animate the trees, stop them swaying (as someone has mentioned above), then it doesn't seem to work in the demo. If you switch the setting to 'low' the trees still sway.
    2. I was just messing around trying things and noticed the trees thing. In fact, on my pretty mediocre laptop system (i7, 8gb RAM, gtx850m) with the demo installed on the D drive (an HDD) it all works really nice and smooth with everything set to max. I do, however, always use the (free) 'crystal disc info' app to manually configure the AAM/APM control to 'Feh' in order to prevent load stutters, which that app does beautifully. (I've posted before about micro stutters running the game from an HDD on systems with SSD and HDD - the stutters are due to lags caused by head parking on the HDD  when the sound files are loading real time during the game (they are not pre-loaded each game, like the graphics files), and this 'crystal disc info' app solves the issue completely.) I mention this again just in case anyone here with the game on an HDD in a dual SSD/HDD system was experiencing micro stutters and hadn't seen that thread...

    I'll never understand how you guys can say the game plays smooth. Looks like the meaning of smooth can vary a lot from person to person. I could call it a smooth slideshow if I would have used the smooth word describing my experience with the game and it has been like that on all the different hardware I had in these years up until the beastly rig I sport now. The only thing I haven't yet tried is using gsync monitor that purpotedly makes the gameplay "very smooth" but I am not falling for that any more, heh.

    So I needed more then one week, lol.
    I tried CMBS and CMRT on stock and OCed CPU. I can say results dissappointed me but didn't surprise me that much. I still can't have decent FPS non OCed or CPU OCed to 4,7 MHz. I can only achieve 40+ overall FPS in the most demanding scenarios if I set the 3D model quality to fast and set shadows and shaders to off. As soon as I set it to balanced frames drop too much. The biggest FPS killer for me is 3D model quality at balanced and above followed by the shadows (who flicker a lot and in general look very crappy anyway).
    Game is "bottlenecking" itself and no matter what kind of monster rig you bring into play there won't be great difference it seems. I can also dispute previous statement that OCed i7 8700k proves much better with the game - in my case I spot no difference.

    I don't mind that things are delayed, I mind that the customer base is often left in the dark, often for months on end.
    This has admittedly gotten much better in the last few weeks, but it has been months of waiting for the 4.0 patch.

    I can't say for sure how this is effecting the player base but look at how posting has died off for CMFI and CMRT -  titles I personally really enjoy. There are threads detailing bugs and TOE/OOB errors and omissions from 2014 that have still not been commented on. Are they being fixed in the next patch? Who knows?
    If BF is aware that for example FJ gun transports in CMFI carry 50mm ammo regardless of the gun in the platoon, and it's being fixed in the next patch, then that's something I don't have to worry about, if they let the customers know and then I don't have to resurrect dead threads from 2014 in the hopes that it will be noticed, only for there to be no response because nobody is posting in the CMRT forum, lest of all devs.

    In my opinion, it's not the big things like delays with the website or CMSF2 being a little later than expected, and certainly not major additions like France and Italy being added to CMSF2 at launch, it's the lack of patches and dev blogs on the existing titles. Little things like the graphics issues with the BMP-2M in CMBS, generated many, many community posts and were met with silence. Would it be so much to say "We're aware of that, we're fixing it, it will be in the upcoming patch for the 4.0 engine".
    The responses to the question about CMBS bugs persisting into CMSF2 and asking if they will be addressed in a patch for CMBS is a ray of hope, I can only hope that there is a more organized way of doing that going forward.
    Maybe have pinned threads in each of the titles' boards and one day a week (if possible) have someone a dev or beta tester come in and give a little update on what's being done on the title, what the known issues are, maybe even solicit help from the community if there is uncertainty about a TOE or OOB. So on Tuesday say, go into the Development Thread in CMFI and say "You know, we looked at that Italian infantry handbook you guys posted back in 2013 (and was reposted in 2018!) that mentions the squad breaking down into 3 man teams, but we think that was just for running in bounds and the Italian rifle squad was fundamentally a LMG section and a rifle section and couldn't maneuver as smaller elements than that." and then on Friday post on the CMFB board and say "Yeah, we're aware that the availability dates for HVAP for the 76mm gun might be off, we'll address that" (No more specifics needed, 10 seconds to post!). The following Tuesday, if there's less going on in the development of CMFI maybe just check in and say "We didn't really take the time to go back to look at the Italians after the engine updates, since they were in the initial release of CMFI and we couldn't just port over assets from other titles when we added AAA. We'd like to add stationary Breda 20mm guns to give Italians the ability to have AA units, and luckily we already have this modeled in game on the AS. 42. We'll hopefully have time to add this as a small patch to CMFI between CMSF2 shipping and Rome to Victory"
    I know people like to say customers ask for too much. I disagree. We're not asking for detailed weekly dev diaries, just some indication of what is being done.
    I know people say that posting on the forum takes away from development time. I disagree. Just say something like: "Not only will Module 1 for CMRT bring the timeline to the end of the war and add German formations and equipment, but the Soviets got a second looks too. So now Cavalry Uniforms are a selection as appearance in the unit purchase screen instead of a mod tag. Oh and since we already had Polish voice files from other titles, we're adding the First Polish Army to the Russian side". That took about 30 seconds and covered questions raised in dozens of threads and hundreds of posts dating from 2014.

    You're in luck! I just rebuilt my computer and put a new i5-8400 and an Nvidia 1060 3Gb with (for now) 8Gb of DDR4 RAM.
    CM runs very well on it. I have no issues with large or small scenario's. I'm running an HDD and not an SSD. On an SSD the load times would likely be faster, but on my HDD with the current set-up load times are pretty quick as is, and turn load times are very quick.
    If you have the means, an i7-8700k will probably last you longer into the future, but you won't see a large difference in CM between the i5 and the i7.

    Hister reacted to IICptMillerII in Turkish Leo2 tanks struggle in the Syria
    Without writing an entire essay on the topic:
    Gulf War 1: Most experts (military historians, those in the military, etc) will tell you that one of the biggest advantage the US had over the Iraqi's ended up being the training and competency of individuals. US tank crewmen were much better trained, and had a lot more practical field time in their tanks than their Iraqi counterparts did. Moreover, the Iraqis hoped to win that war through attrition using stand up, Soviet-style doctrine. Also do not forget that military planners in the US were expecting 30k-40k casualties for Operation Desert Storm. Why? Because the Iraqis had a massive military (4th largest in the world at the time) that was fully equipped/styled after the Soviets. US success in the war largely came down to better training and better tactics. The technology helped, but it was not the deciding factor.
    Gulf War 2 (OIF): The initial stage of the war went great. Coalition forces made a historic drive to Baghdad that would have made Patton jealous. This is largely due to the Iraqis not learning any lessons from Gulf War 1, and the US learning many lessons from Gulf War 1. However things changed when resistance in Iraq devolved from conventional to unconventional guerrilla warfare. The famed insurgency everyone is always talking about. Why didn't the Coalitions massive technological advantage end this insurgency in a few months? Many, many reasons, but my main point is that just because you are fighting a farmer with an AK and an RPG, does not mean you automatically win if you 'counter' him with a multi-million dollar tank/apc/plane/whatever.
    Zulu: I must admit that I do not know a ton about this subject, but I do know that the Battle of Rourkes Drift (made famous by the movie "Zulu") was won largely to superior training and tactics by the British (specifically organisation and discipline) despite being outnumbered by a massive margin. Take Custers last stand for example. How did a technologically inferior foe defeat a technologically superior enemy? Because the Sioux made up for their technological discrepancies with better tactics.
    This is the quick and dirty summary of these events. There is a ton more detail that could be gone into, and as always it is never just one factor that single handedly decides victory or defeat, but its a good general overview to back up my point. Just because you have better tech does not mean you automatically win, or that you have that much of an advantage over a less well equipped adversary. Its all about how you use said tech.

    Yeah, being born in the places where battles took place and interested in these things..., the two together amplify each other. I was born in North-Western part of Slovenia where "Isonzo battelfield" took place in the first world war. We still have an unexploded Italian granade under our doorstep for example and the area is full of trenches and metal. I even found remains of a dead Austro-Hungarian soldier in the collapsed cavern high up in the Alps as a kid.
    Happy for you that the game reignited your vanning passion.
