Irrational tank crew behaviour
Wego McPbem replied to noob's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Had the same thing happen with a stuart crew. Commander was killed by a pistol wielding vehicle crew. Then another crewman popped up to take his place and was shot. They finally buttoned up after that. Also, has everyone noticed a huge increase in unbuttoned crews taking casualties since the patch? I never used to worry about it before, probably had it happen twice in total before the patch but now I find it happening all the time. Not complaining btw, think it's a good thing. -

Panzershrecks give away there position to fast
Wego McPbem replied to skelley's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
In my experience the tacai considers infantry in buildings a prime target for schrecks\bazookas. I usually agree with it but there are times like this where you don't want them to engage. I guess it all comes back to the armour arc thing. It's the only way I can see to solve issues like this. -
Wanted: Tips for Managing Large Scenarios
Wego McPbem replied to Lt. Smash's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Use plus and minus to cycle through all your units. It's very easy to miss a single unit in need of orders otherwise. And I agree with people saying the advance to contact is the most intimidating part. Once you know what you're up against and where they are the rest should come naturally. -
Bocage aux Folles 3 – Armor Hammer
Wego McPbem replied to SteveP's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I assume you're talking about the first one? That was definitely brutal, I can see why some may not have liked it. I did get slaughtered myself. But you shouldn't let that put you off the second, its much more "fair". Managed to scrape a win on my first try. -

Nice. Enjoyed the last two, will probably play this tonight. -
We're not so old after all
Wego McPbem replied to Cymru's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Well, it's fair to say that this is the only forum I visit that actually makes me feel young 33 btw. -
Yes again Now you have to join the rest of us in speculating (or nagging) about when it'll be released.

Yep, the first module is going to cover commonwealth forces.

Thats not good if true. Only observations I have to offer are that in a game I played with marders vs shermans the marders seemed to take facing into account. The marders would happily sit and shoot at the sides of them but as soon as the shermans pointed their turret at them they'd back off in a panic. Maybe it's an at gun thing?

PBEM files not being created
Wego McPbem replied to Nidan1's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Had this happen a few times with v1.0 (windows). Very annoying after you've spent ages on your turn. Hasn't happened to me once since patching though. -
Why do some mods not work in v1.01?
Wego McPbem replied to Kanonier Reichmann's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Marcos mod is working fine for me along with everything else. Didn't move anything before the patch except to install the update for jujus mod. -
Hi i'm totally new to your series.
Wego McPbem replied to thedudesam's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Use the acquire command with the unit you want to take it. They have to be inside the halftrack to do this. Split squads should rejoin when they're on the same action square as each other but in my experience it can be hit or miss as to whether it actually works. No you can't. Once the gun is abandoned or the crew is killed that's it. -

Welcome! Couple of tips: Learn to watch for spotting rounds from enemy artillery. You can often work out where the main volley is likely to hit and get out of there. Also don't be shy about using area fire on possible enemy locations on the attack, it can be a life saver. Target light is probably best if you're not sure theres something there, this way you won't waste rifle grenades and bazooka rounds. -
Sorry if it's a dumb question but have you patched the game? I stuck with v1.0 for a while to finish up some games and Bloody Omaha and a few other scenarios wouldn't show up for me until I patched.

Is there a gridded terrain mod for wheat fields ?
Wego McPbem replied to noob's topic in CM Normandy Maps and Mods
IIRC it's not possible because of the animated wheat or something. -
Graphics Request: Breaks in Bocage
Wego McPbem replied to Holman's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Like yankeedog said, looking at the width is by far the easiest way to distinguish between them. Low bocage is just as thick as high bocage but hedges are really thin. As for breaks I really struggled with them at first but I've got much better at spotting them now. The dirt tile around the opening thing does help a lot when designers do it. -
Slight spoilers: Played through this last night, ended up getting a major victory. Time ran out in the end because there was a single scout team I hadn't found. The counteratttack seemed really well timed and surprised me a bit but I was lucky to be in an ideal position to deal with it at the time. Anyway, fun little scenario, theres definitely a need for more ones like these. Also wanted to say thanks to De Savage. Have really enjoyed all of your CMBN scenarios so far, keep up the good work.

I've seen some double penetrations (ooer) but only on halftracks.

picking up weapons an ammo from fallen mates
Wego McPbem replied to JG11Preusse's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Just someting I noticed in my current game in relation to this. I had a two man panzerschreck team take a casualty (the assistant) and the remaining member still had access to six rounds when he was next to the casualty. Then, after buddy aid had been performed he was left with only two. I understand the reasons why it happened but it just seemed a bit counter intuitive that I was better off in that case not giving any aid and just hanging around the casualty to be able to use his ammo. -
It's strange, I suffered a load of bogged vehicles within my first week of playing but I haven't had any since, even in places where I thought it was likely. Maybe you just had a streak of bad luck like I did. Having so many of them happen on a road does seem a bit odd though.

Mortars engaging with no order.
Wego McPbem replied to Boche's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
That's a bit annoying. Guess I'll have to start putting target arcs on my mortar teams. -
Very nice, must have taken a lot of work. Kudos!
