  1. Maybe they don't want to become the target for snipers!
  2. Well, the Brits still are waiting for a "Brew tea" option.
  3. I have had nothing but great experiences with BF. In those cases where there was a dispute or problem, they worked to fix it promptly and graciously.
  4. It has started to download the Windows version (I am on a Mac): I don't remember seeing a place where I had a choice. Any Mac users got an idea? Thanks
  5. Ah Wizardry! I still fire it up on an Apple II emulator from time to time---Tiltowait, better than a small tactical nuke! BTW 40 is a very distant memory, but 71 is the new 40.
  6. I got my Commodore PET with 4K of RAM in 1978 and had to write my own games, as there virtually none available. When I upgraded to 32K I was sure I could never run out of memory, but within a month I had written a game that used every byte.
  7. They can't possibly release it tomorrow: who would believe an April 1st release?
  8. It would improve the quality of two countries at once.
  9. Ssshhhh. I'm hunting wabbits!
  10. Heck, back in the 50's I made Airfix models with three! different colors.
  11. I will add my thanks. Seeing how each turn played out, after reading the rationale for each move has been very instructive.
  12. I will add my thanks to the rest.Being able to read your planning and commentary have made this a very instructive thread.
  13. Amazing: after 15 years I still can't tell if the Peng thread is populated by infants or those suffering from dementia.
  14. Let's eat, Grandpa vs Let's eat Grandpa Punctuation: saving lives for centuries.
  15. You *always* have to pee in the middle of a battle!
  16. Should the number of mines that you can purchase be affected by the type of battle or scenario? Units that are in well-prepared defenses might have had time to lay extensive minefields, while others might have had no time for more than a couple of quick AT mines on the main road.
  17. I suffer from CDO. Well it's really OCD but I like the letters arranged alphabetically: as they should be!
  18. What! Noooooooo…. I have to spend the *entire* day actually working?
  19. "Splitting was, by technical definition, a tricky thing for the Soviets to pull off in real life. They centered their doctrine on concentration and simplicity, which in a way was the opposite of Western doctrine." Would one of the knowledgable forum members comment on the fractal nature of military doctrine? Do most nations tend to use the same overall approach at every level, or there no general pattern?
  20. My all-time favorite Clavinism is Well, you see, Norm, it’s like this. A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it’s the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Now, as we know, excessive intake of alcohol kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. And that, Norm, is why you always feel smarter after a few beers.
