  1. I had hoped that maybe the CM3 engine might have found a way. It was my favorite component of CM1, and I still miss it.
  2. Maybe I missed this: will the QB generator be like the current model (choose from pre-made maps), or more like CM1 where random maps could be produced?
  3. I take full credit for my daily reminders getting it out on time!
  4. 6............., 5............, 4.............., 3............., 2................
  5. 6............., 5.............., 4..............., 3...............
  6. I was giving them until the end of Jan 31st, so they still have 4 days.
  7. 6.............., 5................, 4................
  8. "We'll give you a lot more visuals to chew on in January" And counting………… 7,
  9. And I just got my new iMac with the maxed out CPU and graphics! Ready to roll.
  10. Changes! We don't need no stinking changes. I want the Grenadier Guards with Tiger IIs and the Connecticut militia using 155mm guns! Oh, and Nebelwerfers...........please let there be Nebelwerfers.
  11. I agree. The impact of PB as a tactical game was immense. Granted there were many totally unrealistic aspects, but the sight of enemy 'destroyed' counters littering the map was soooooo gratifying. it took on an added dimension when we set up duplicate boards and a referee who only let you see enemy units that were in LOS.
  12. Not quite at that level, but did anyone play the complete Strategy and Tactics Russian Campaign? As I remember it used 8 map sheets you were supposed to tape together and over 2000 counters. I never even got as far as completing the initial set-up.
  13. I am not quite sure what the "official" label entails, but AH Stalingrad came out in the mid 60's.
  14. 70. Started with the board version of Stratego, then Stalingrad and Panzer Blitz. Still playing enough that my wife comments on it, but luckily my hearing is going.
  15. However, it would be nice to have a 'use as cover' command in which the infantry stick to one side of the tank which acts as a shield. This was a common tactic, but is hard to replicate since it requires having the tank and infantry move at the same speed.
  16. Try telling that to my wife. At 70 I am probably playing more than I did in the past, BTW I still work full-time, so it is not because of retirement. I am Type 4 (I think) CM1 was more fun because you could be a little more careless than in CM2 and the QB system was great. Those two provided a level of enjoyment I don’t get from CM2. Now the QB system is a pain, and I have to pay a lot more detail to every move by every unit. I am sure that is what the designers intended, and what most players wanted: it just isn’t my preference.
  17. I agree that the effect of Maquis activity would be in slowing down German movement, typically well behind the front lines. I assume scenario creators could take this into account when determining force composition and reinforcement schedules.
  18. Get all of your men behind it and yell " All together boys .........."
  19. All joking aside: the past is not that far away. As a young boy my grandfather talked to someone who had fought at the battle of Waterloo. Granted, the person was something like 16 at the time of the battle and played no significant role, but it still means I am just one step away from hearing an eyewitness account.
  20. I have no problem with my troops being spotted immediately, as long as this is made clear in the briefing. In most real life cases, a commander will have a very good idea of which locations can be seen by the enemy, and can make the necessary adjustments. Ideally there could be another overlay color in the set-up region to reflect this.
  21. But, if you knew there might be motorcycles in the area (and they will kill you if they spot you first), you might be more observant.
  22. Similar to: When he killed the Mudjokivis, With the skin he made him mittens, Made them with the fur side inside, Made them with the skin side outside, He, to get the warm side inside, Put the inside skin side outside. He, to get the cold side outside, Put the warm side fur side inside. That's why he put the fur side inside, Why he put the skin side outside Why he turned them inside outside.
