  1. I imagine it would be possible. I am not sure what the reality would actually be or what the priority would be.
  2. LOL I figured I was going to get ninja'd. I tried to keep it to strong verbs and short sentences (ala Bernadine Healy). Probably didn't quite make the standard - must edit better next time.
  3. LOL - that's important. Whatever you do don't spend the night celebrating in your secure compound, drinking heavily into the night without knowing you have been successful before you crack the first bottle. You might not get a second chance like these guys did: https://www.npr.org/2019/01/31/690363402/how-the-cia-overthrew-irans-democracy-in-four-days Note: not trying to be political just a history podcast that starts with the story of a failed CIA backed coup attempt in 1953. The part I am referring to actually starts at 5:15 after the story of the failure and the introduction to this new pod cast. Spoiler alert they get a second try and they succeed that time. I'm sure @MOS:96B2P scenario will give you no such quarter.
  4. Cool - welcome Well the usual advice is to get the theatre that interests you the most. There are differences in the number of scenarios. For the WW2 titles CM Battle for Normandy has been around the longest and has two modules and a couple of packs, CM Fortress Italy has a module (with another one due next) and CM Red Thunder is just the base game (with a module due after that) as is CM Final Blitzkrieg (with only the promise that there will be a module at some point). You can check out this site which has a list of (nearly) all scenarios: http://www.combatmission.lesliesoftware.com/index.html Ah this is the beauty part - BFC have been keeping the older games up to date as engine improvements are made. So with very few exceptions CMBN has been updated to Engine 4 and has all the features that the newest version has CMFB. So, you have no fear of in that regard. No problem. Come to think of it my FAQ thread doesn't cover that - it covers more the 10th - 50th question you will have once you start playing though:
  5. Air missions no not provide intel of any kind to the caller or anyone else. Well other than smoke plumes they might generate by scoring hits on enemy vehicles.
  6. Three teams makes six smoke rounds. If you can direct fire you can give them each a target smoke order and create a smoke screen that will cover 24-30m or so. Pay attention to the wind direction and order each team to fire smoke ever second action square.
  7. Getting ready for space lobsters of doom. Someone needs to defend Earth.
  8. The icon was so bad I was confused. Well bicycle troops would cool to though.
  9. The Blitz is running one scenarios this month. Sign up for the April scenario of the Month has started over at the Blitz. This month the scenarios are: CMSF: Al Amarah The form post on theBlitz for sign up.
  10. The Blitz is running two scenarios this month. Sign up for the April scenario of the Month has started over at the Blitz. This month the scenarios are: CMRT Sacrifice in the Snow CMFI Cesaro, Sicily H2H The form post on theBlitz for sign up.

  12. You mean "No"? Exactly. The patch does not have everything that each of us think is wrong with the game. The patch contains various prioritized fixes to issues that are recognized as bugs. Not the "unbuttoned crew vulnerability". I put that in quotes not just because it's a quote form an earlier post but because it is a meaninglessly generic statement that could not possibly be acted upon and yet many people think upon hearing it that it covers their pet peeve. There have been various unbuttoned crew issues that have been fixed over the years is: crews not buttoning down quickly enough, commanders sitting too high in their vehicles and German HT gunners not using the gun shield like they should. There could be more that I am forgetting. A while back there was yet another discussion on this topic where someone did point out that a unbuttoned crew was more easily hit than some random guy in the woods. That went further to show that the danger was not just because the crew would be a priority target. I forget how that ended exactly but it was something that was either not conclusive or in the "just the way the game is" category (i.e. not a significant enough problem to warrant the downstream effects that might result).
  13. This is possibly the best advice ever offered here on these forums. It certainly is the best post ever on one of these "why are we still waiting for X" threads. How come his post does not have 10, 20 or 200 up votes? My mind boggles. Was that too snaky? I might have broken my new years resolution.
  14. Interesting. Why would that be? Or do you mean they are ineffective if you also want there to still be pavement?
  15. Humm I am surprised at this. Just to verify they had a launcher and a missile right? If you have a save it would be good - unless I am totally wrong and get corrected by someone else before you come back with a save :) Automatic ammo sharing only happens within a platoon. So if the platoon LT gets the ammo it should work but the Company CO or another Lt will not. However you also need to know that auto ammo sharing from non ammo bearers happens only when the consuming team (in this case the MG) is out of ammo and then they will automatically acquire ammo one mag, belt at a time. Dedicated ammo bearers is different - in that case the MG team will use ammo from their bearer team first before switching to their own supply. This allows the ammo bearer teams to zip off and get more while the MG keeps firing. There is no mechanism to transfer non trivial amounts of ammo between teams.
  16. Don't forget that auto sharing only works for units in the same platoon. @rocketman if you did not need reminding of that then just disregard this post
  17. My two must haves are Vin's animated text icons. Here is the CMSF 2.01 version (you must have the matching version of this and if you apply a patch you must remove the old one or you will be unhappy): http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/cm-mod-warehouse/combat-mission-shock-force-2/cmsf2-other/vins-animated-text-cmsf2-v2-01/ I also like to replace the icons. I am partial to my own (not migrated to the new mod warehouse yet): https://cmmodsiii.greenasjade.net/?p=2684 But there are other good ones too (some in the new warehouse and some not): http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/cm-mod-warehouse/combat-mission-shock-force-2/cmsf2-other/lt-smashs-floating-icons-for-shock-force-2/ http://cmmodsiii.greenasjade.net/?p=6301 http://cmmodsiii.greenasjade.net/?p=6292 http://cmmodsiii.greenasjade.net/?p=6189 http://cmmodsiii.greenasjade.net/?p=6154
  18. Using the target LOS tool is not directly effected by hide but it is indirectly effected. The target tool uses the current heights of the solider models to make the determination. That's why if you have some soldiers standing and some kneeling you get that grey line for some targets because the standing team members can see the target ground and the kneeling members cannot. Hide will encourage troops to get prone to, you know, hide. Therefore a hiding team will likely all be prone or otherwise behind any cover they have to hide behind. Their view is effected because of that.
  19. What @rocketman said. And while I am sure if you look hard enough you might find anecdotes to support what @z1812 said but this design choice it's not about modelling every possible thing that might have happened its about giving us the feel for what it was like to fight with various forces in WW2. Another example is apparently Churchill tanks could breach many bocage walls on their own but to do so was very risky and exposed the under side of the tank for extended periods and was done very rarely. Steve knew that if we could do that too it would not be a rare occurrence so he decided to not let us do that since designing that feature out of the game was closer to the reality than having it in.
  20. Search tip: use Google. If you preface your Google search words with site: community.battlefront.com you can get better searches of the forum.
  21. I have just moved an install from one drive to another with no problems. I have an SSD drive that is a bit small. I put the latest versions of the games there and then have any older versions and test versions on a larger HDD. This is on a PC.
