I see your point of course but man do I disagree. The game designers have looked at all the conflicting research, anecdotes etc and came to a series of conclusions. They have a demonstrated track record of making adjustments to those conclusions when errors are found. We should keep pointing out those errors when we find them. However actually modifying the game is not a good idea. Even in your example of one person's desires are not being met. The real life tank commanders could not say hey my tank is not behaving like the manufacturer said it would, I'll just make a few adjustments. Just like in real life you work with what you have. Your particular example might well fall into a case of well it kinda fixed a bug so OK but it feels like a slippery slope towards letting people with (insert stereotypical over inflated nationalist pride here) or worse (insert delusional prejudice belief here) reinforce their warped view. We have all seen some of those people appear here from time to time and perhaps sometimes the pride part might even show up in our own hearts. So in the interests of just making the game better report the bugs and suspicious behavior but let's not try to warp the game. Just my opinion.

Yep, and I strongly suspect that is what will happen.

Oh that is good news (well relatively speaking). Get some rest. -
A little confused as to the state of the union...
A Canadian Cat replied to Sprint31's topic in Combat Mission Fortress Italy
There are several choices for finding oppents. I use theblitz.org others use a few good men and another popular choice is we band of brothers. All of them are still going strong. I do not think that BFC is going to keep their repository once everything is migrated. -
Cool idea. I, personally, would prefer a custom points option trough.

Ways to speed up the medic process?
A Canadian Cat replied to sttp's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Yes, i think you are missremembering. The problem of not starting aid for soldiers on the border between AS happens from time to time. To solve it what i do is give the team i want to remder aid a slow move order so that it goes over the wounded man. Then give the aid team a 45s pause. That way when the turn ends they will also be in between the AS. In the new turn cancel thier slow move order and they will likely be in the right place to perform aid. -
That is how it works. The tags let you create a mod that can be used in a specific scenario but it overrides all uses of that texture in the scenario.

My machine was even slower - 90s or so. Still not an issue just the way it is. Now I realize I have no idea what the usual password is. Can you PM me or email it if you don't want it to appear in this thread. Please. -

Mods do not make much difference to the load times - been tested. As for any junk in your trunk - that I have no idea about. -
BFC: Will the next CMRT module have snow? :D

Well, as with any magic 8 ball you can just keep asking until you get the answer you want -
BFC: Will the next CMRT module have snow? :D
A Canadian Cat replied to kohlenklau's topic in Combat Mission Red Thunder
I consulted an actual magic 8 ball (http://www.indra.com/cgi-bin/spikes-8-ball) and it told me: ___________ / \ \BETTER NOT / \TELL YOU / \ NOW / \ / \___/ -
Surrendering does *not* give either side an automatic win. What it does do is give the side accepting the surrender all unit ovnectives (minus any forces that have exites) and all occupy objectives. Other types of objectives are scored as expected. So, i believe the answer to the original question is yes. To figure out where to set the point levels consider a surrender as awarding all destroy unit and any occupy objectives to the "winning" side and then figure out how many points you need to create the outcomes you want. Then do a couple of tests to make sure things are as you expect.

Those seem like good take aways. Just two comments... I agree that artillery is the best way to take out an ATG but direct firing can still suppress the gun while you wait for the artillery barrage to begin. So, if you cannot get cover from the gun sometimes inefficient direct fire is the only way to keep the crew from taking you out while you wait for the artillery to do its job. I totally agree that FOOs should not be hidden when they have work to do but if you have a 6 minute call time the defiantly can hide for the first three or four minutes. FOOs are best behind an infantry screen in good cover where they do not have to hide. But sometimes you need to bring them close to danger. If I have to bring my FOOs too close for comfort I always move them up, make the call, then move them back to some better cover and hide them. Then each turn I check the artillery status and when it is getting close I move them back to their OP so they are ready for when the rounds start arriving. -
New user question about map border
A Canadian Cat replied to rss334's topic in Combat Mission Red Thunder
On performance differences: as @ASL Veteran said the demos lag behind in patches. I have all the tittles and I do not notice much difference between them. On map edges: at the high camera levels they can be noticeable at times. If you want to increase immersion try spending time using camera level 2 or 1. One of my favorite things to do is lock the camera on a key unit and follow it during play back. That is where your immersion will really go up. -

OK good. We probably should not be reading the German AAR yet then. -

Price Break for Commonwealth/Market Garden
A Canadian Cat replied to norvandave's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Right, and given that CMBN it getting upgrades it is not really a five year old game. Look at it this way. If you were a new customer any one of BFC s CM2x games is just as new. -
Price Break for Commonwealth/Market Garden
A Canadian Cat replied to norvandave's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Price setting is a tricky business. I personally think that BFC not having sales is a good thing. If you put things on sale people wait to buy. If you never do then people buy when they want. I order books from Blurb (I make photo books for my daughter's dance studio) they offer discounts on and off and i find myself not ordering so i can wait for a sale. I don't think that is a good thing. Unless they are managing thier work load using price in which case perhaps it works for them. What i know as a customer i feel bad when i pay full price if i think a sale is just around the corner. I never feel that way with BFC. -
My impression is the oposite: guys in tbe open are much more vulnerable than tank commanders. I see TC s duck down sucessfully frequently. Time for you guys to do some tests and show that something is off.

Every now and then i make the request. I keep hoping...

So i just tried it in CMBN and it was all good for me. My Sherman had one hole in the front of the turret and one in the side, very much like your screen shot. The various settings had an effect at no time did i have black circles or white circles. I'll have t see if i can loose a vehicle in blacl sea to check there.

I think so. I do not claim to be an expert but it seems like it to me. Considering we were always told the radius of the danger zone for a grenade is significantly longer than you can throw it.
