  1. Oh, but the link is for drop box, so I was confused.
  2. Do not forget the repository is going away eventually. The new location is the scenario depot iii or is it iI I cannot keep the version straight.
  3. What CM offers is not really modding it is skinning. We can skin lots of things - probably most thing but we cannot change anything that effects play. Yes, I realize that some people have done that but I am talking about what is officially supported. I see. Clearly I was not clear. Cheaters are a concern of mine but a vastly bigger concern is the fracturing of the community. Not sure what is incredible about that concern. You can see it in just the places you suggested I look for information about ARMA - I found it confusing and fractured and all over the place I had no idea where to even start. ^^^ What he said.
  4. Oh now that is an interesting idea. I never liked the look of that one myself but if it gives you less "why the face" moments then that gives it a new value.
  5. Wow. The shadows on the tank are awesome. Have you been sucked into this winter mod too. You winter mod guys are having way to much fun. That background is probably a bit too blue and snow covered for the dried brown foliage in the fore ground though.
  6. Which is a great story in and of itself. Edited to add - I love it when my guys get away.
  7. LOL OMG you did. How could you! I'm kidding of course you should vote for what you like and not what I want. I mean you did vote for the one I consider the lamest but that should not stop you if you like it.
  8. Brilliant - love those moments. Wow that was some serious over kill there at the end. He must have been really pissed off.
  9. Hey gang Matt needs some help with naming suggestions. Go here and see what you think: http://dogsofwarvu.com/forum/index.php/topic,1633.0.html Personally I think there is only one name worth anything and I really do not like the rest - I'm not saying which I like but right now it is tied with the truly lamest one there. If that doesn't get you guys riled up to check it out nothing will
  10. Oh yes the creators should be uploading them. I thought we were talking about campaigns you created.
  11. LOL nice example. Good advice there. I can see a reasonable argument for foliage thickness not matching its visual representation. I really do not think it is as a extreme as @Cpl Steiner is making it out... There is no way that is right. I realize you are deep in observation bias territory here but you must have seen times when your tank, just a short distance into the woods cannot see squat in the next field. I know I have. There is no way that your conclusion above is even remotely correct. If you want to argue that foliage does not do enough to block LOS sure I can see that perhaps even agree but it is being accounted for and has the expected effect a lot of the time.
  12. Why not upload to the scenario depot? That way you do not have to host them at all.
  13. Indeed. The thing is Putin hase been engaging in small conflicts around the edges of NATO for some time. Putin keeps pushing at the edges. Each time that happens it introduces the possibility that a larger conflict will start. I, personally hope it does not and one day future governments will decide to stop there kinds of antagonistic actions. Hey, I can hope. The game is about one of those antagonistic actions finally boiling over into said conflict. Honestly I hope it does not happen in real life but it does not take a history expert to see how it could happen. At some point the willingness to continue to appease could wear thin and or the desire to keep pushing neighbours around could trigger something bigger than either side really wanted. I realize that a lot of these antagonistic actions are a lot of "he hit me back first" each side thinks they are justified because of x or y that was done to them w years ago. Hence my comment about future governments doing a better job and not a future government.
  14. Those are my thoughts as well. Others are free to disagree and lobby BFC to go that way. I just hope they don't and so far no one has put forward a compelling argument for how it will increase business for BFC. BTW ad hominem attacks like "you have blinders" does not forward the discussion about how spending BFC's resources supporting modders makes them more money.
  15. This is how I see it. It BFC introduced an more nuanced jamming mechanism I would be happy to have it but there are lots of things I would like to see before that, the top three of which are in my sig
  16. Hence my comment about how much work there would be for BFC to do to open things up that way. I suspect that comment you quoted was directed at me but am not sure because I don't read the insulting posts of that forum member any more. I am pleased that those of you that play arma 3 and those other games mentioned are happy with them. I do not have blinders on I simply see no joy in those games and I think it is at least in part because the modding has fractured the community and caused a stagnation in the main game. A few months ago i actually spent an afternoon lookibg at arma 3 and what i found was a confusing collections of forums and multiple commercian sites. I could not tell what i would get for my $ nor what i should by to get the experience that was suggested by a poster here, sorry i forget who. It was a drag, honestly. I know BFC's web site is a bit old fasioned and hard to navigate but at least i can tell what is on offer and how much it costs to have a game that i can play. The hardest part here is figuring out how to buy more in the right combination.
  17. Oh interesting question. I do not recall an official discussion about that. Does the big bundle include the vehicle pack?
  18. I thought the consensus of reviewing the literature was that jamming was very rare and easily fixed. I could be rembering wrong. Do you have documents outlining jamming as a significant issue?
  19. No, those Intel cards suck for CM. My new notebook at work has a 5000 and it will play CM but so poorly. The text drawing is a mess and the performance is poor. My last notebook was good because it had an additional NVidia card that I could use for gaming. I just had to configure it to be used when playing CM.
  20. Or I don't find that way of playing interesting in the slightest and don't want to see effort put into opening up the game for modding with all the associated documentation, work on the code and the then needed work to verify that two opponents have compatible mods of the same version etc. None of those other games hold even the slightest interest for me, sorry.
  21. Don't forget the initial game does not go until the end of the war so those modules that come next can have those things too. They don't need to be in the base game. BTW you can already create thick forest now. I am not sure what else you would need.
  22. See, this is what *I* do not get. Why on earth would I want people making all kinds of crazy stuff? Sure some people would make some plausible Chinese army equipment or 1980's equipment. But there would also be uber T90's and uber Bradley's and fantisy rule the battlefield creations. Or perhaps just more subtle cheating like main guns that never get damaged or vehicles that cannot be immobilized. Suddenly there would be a problem with H2H play. Sure I could still play with my trusted friends but I met most of them by taking a chance on someone or entering a tournament. Those things would suddenly be harder. And all of this at the cost of time and resources that could have advanced the game. No thanks
  23. Nice first post there. I agree with @Baneman and @Warts 'n' all that getting the CM Red Thunder demo will give you a head start on how the game mechanics work etc.
