Finally got to have a read of this thread. I've been testing V2.0 of the scenario blind, commanding the Americans and got stomped into the mud twice. Didn't even take the first objective. And after reading this my opponent used a very different tactic to Baneman. Will be an interesting read going forward. MacIsles will get back to you soon about feedback as promised.

Wow, looks amazing, keep up the good work.

Best Computer to buy for CM:BN
Ithikial_AU replied to claystone's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Actually they are getting better. My previous rig from a few years ago had a 1200W power supply. Individual parts are using less power than say 5 years ago. Only got liquid cooling as I live in Australia and the peak of our summers can be interesting for IT equipment. -
Best Computer to buy for CM:BN

Check out the Performance Thread first in the tech support forum. There is some issues (out of BF's hands) that you may want to be aware of. I picked up a new rig just a couple of months ago and it runs both ARMA and CM very well with very fast load and turn processing times. Getting a FPS hit that's not nice but that's something to do with OpenGL maybe, not sure. CPU - Intel i7 (forgot the full model name) @ 3.5 Ghz Cooler - Corsair 100i CPU Liquid Cooler RAM - 16GB of Dominator and 2400 mhz. Motherboard - Intel X77 GPU - Nvidia GTX690 (pricey but so far worth it for non CM games) Hard Drive - SSD for OS and 2 x 2TB SATA's for everything else. Power Supply - 850W OS - Windows 7 (Avoiding Windows 8 - personal choice) Can confirm runs many resource graphics / cpu intensive games like ARMA 2, or Shogun 2 on max settings very well. -
The Scottish corridor - A amazing Job

THANKYOU! From someone who went down the Veteran path that Crescendo mission was a great and desperate battle against a company of Panthers. But when I discovered I had to hold off another attack with the handful of forces I had left it felt like a kick in the guts as a player. I felt for my poor Pixeltruppen who had nothing left to give. Needless to say I was steamrolled in the night attack. If you need volunteers down the road for testing the revised Crescendo scenario pencil me in. -
We need to develop full human cloning technology and clone Fuser.

This scenario is looking really nice and I'll have to give it a try down the track. Brothers in Arms, brings back good memories. Would love to try and recreate their Barquette Locks map from Earned in Blood. I had a similar idea myself a while back. I think it would also be a good opportunity for a bit of community building. Wouldn't even need to be prize driven - that would actually cheapen it I think. May even inspire a few more people to take the plunge and open the editor! Possible categories (Except where noted anyone could vote and nominate): - Best New Fictional Scenario - Best New Historical Scenario - Best Campaign - Best Head 2 Head Scenario - Best Single Player Scenario - Best QB Map - Battlefront's Choice Award (BF team pick their best community made scenario/campaign) - Community Choice (Non BF people pick from the new releases and modules from that year) - Best Mod (May become known as the Aris award very quickly...)

Gustav Line - Shipping Costs
Ithikial_AU replied to Canada Guy's topic in Combat Mission Fortress Italy
Germany, that's a nasty situation. We're a little lucky in Australia our Sales tax only kicks in for overseas purchases when the item being shipped hits $1000 AUD. Some bureaucrat somewhere worked out during it's design that it would cost the Govt more to implement the sales tax on small overseas purchases than they would collect. Surprised Europe doesn't have the same kind of threshold. They did try to overturn it last year when angry big local retailers saw their former profits heading towards to online shopping, but all the evidence from the tax office pointed to the sitaution still being the same. Thankyou Tax Office! Never thought I'd say that... -
Silly question... Can the AAA actually aim up and shoot at aircraft? Has that been coded? Would be good to actually get some defence against aircraft attacks other than praying they are off target. Can't remember reading anything on that topic.

Gustav Line- PREORDERS and new Screenshots!
Ithikial_AU replied to iMolestCats's topic in Combat Mission Fortress Italy
Preordered! And being a bit repetitive as it was exactly the same with the CW release, but Battlefront you had me at the news title. My reaction (again).... -
Wich CMx2 iteration are you waiting for most?
Ithikial_AU replied to agusto's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Market Garden Gustav Line East Front Shock Force 2 will be interesting and I'll definitely pick it up but keeping it off any list at the moment. Just hope it's a bit more 'balanced' so you can act out a conventional war between West and East. Also would like to see what modules they have planned for this one, hopefully it will be diverse to cover other theaters in a modern WW3 situation. -
Looking forward to playing this one day. Out of interest, has anyone got any material on the action to the South West of this? I'm doing some initial resource hunting for some scenarios focusing on Operation Windsor.

A little light humour considering all the heavy talk of bugs and performance tests on these forums recently. I posted these a while back on the FGM forums and while cleaning up my photobucket account realised I'd never shared them here. Hopefully fellow CM Generals can relate. Enjoy... And finally to the BF team and testers who deal with all out bug complaints... Anyone else creative here? Would be great to see some others.

Wouldn't it be cool if...
Ithikial_AU replied to InsanePerson42's topic in Combat Mission Fortress Italy
No. But it would be nice if my guys didn't mind picking up the opposing side's weapons and ammo if they're own was low/depleted. Been a few times when I've had say a US Infantry squad all cowering with next to no ammo to shoot back and laying among them is a dead German HMG42 team and working weapon. I'm guessing it's a coding nightmare though. -
Winter Mods automatic selection?
Ithikial_AU replied to Sequoia's topic in Combat Mission Fortress Italy
I feel so sorry for Aris when he returns. -
I did a collection before but haven't got around to updating it. if I get a chance I'll do it again. Takes some time though zipping everything together and then uploading to dropbox.

No probs. As I said have to go on hold anyway to wait to see new terrain sets and September 44 OOB.

Got a JOE's Bridge map half done but waiting until the MG module is released before going any further. You can see my progress here.... http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/thefgmforum/threads/map-preview-joes-bridge.16023/ Really hoping some kind of industrial terrain is included with the module. Campaign wise the allies were pushing towards the Rhine in late '44 so fingers crossed.

Very early stages of doing a series of scenarios regarding Operation Windsor - haven't committed yet. Pulling together available resources.
-
Yeah this mission is separate from the campaign and you start off with full resupplied forces as it's set about a month after the campaign proper finishes. Also just the way I like to play. If I know there is little chance of contact early on I'll use quick and get into position. My pixeltruppen can catch their breaths while spotting for the enemy from a good vantge point. They can multitask like that. Haven't decided. Probably something that doesn't involve CW forces.

Hello all, Following a discussion on this board about presenting CM videos on Youtube, I tried something a little different with my Video AAR's. This time a no edit account of a battle from start to finish. The scenario in question is the bonus mission at the end of the Scottish Corridor Campaign with the Commonwealth Module. So if there is nothing on TV or your current PBEM turn rate is a little slow please take a look. (Lots of artillery and King Tigers). The Playlist: Part 1: Cheers everyone, I hope you enjoy.
